I plan to add a low profile Radeon 6400 graphics board for some light gaming next. The second SSD is setup for automatic backups for now. Very good computer.
The first prebuilt I bought on EBay was a Lenovo MT 73, and I upgraded the memory to 16GB, added a 256GB SSD, plus a 1TB SSD, upgraded the CPU from an I5 4570 to an I7 4790 and a 1050TI.

Did you hear about the MSI RTX 3050 Low Profile 6 GB just uses up 70W of power supply, and by the way if you encounter a bottleneck at 1080p the best would be to go for a 2k or 4k display.
Can’t really get a better gpu without better power supply. I have a 600 w psu in mine and an RX 580. Huge difference between the capabilities with those 2 cards in. You may be able to get away with a 1060.
I got it for $150 with 16g memory.Installed the then cheap rtx a2000 for$160(price is double now for this gem)And it can play almost all new games maxed out
Your best options without changing the PSU are GTX 1650 and RTX 2000 (equivalent to RTX 3050). You can also use RX 6400 but you won't be able to get the best performance out of this GPU with this optiplex as it needs PCIE gen 4 to perform well.
I think your 1050ti is bottlenecking the cpu. For gpu upgrade path you can pick RTX 2060 6GB / 8GB Super as replacement with default PSU; i assumed it is 320W. But to increase safety margin just undervolt the gpu as low as 0.700v so that RTX could run 100% load with 75-80W; it is 50% less power draw with the price of 10% performance penalty. Good for long term. In my opinion, it is not worth upgrading the GPU. Something like a GTX 1650 might be okay, but most newer GPUs are going to be overkill for this build. My daughter has the same setup down to the i7 and she is using a GTX 1060 6gb, It works well, but it is a real tight fit. We had to do something with the stuff that was in the way, because the GPU was too long to fit easily. I forget what we had to do, but we did get it in there. Also, we had to upgrade the PSU... we went with a 600 (??) watt unit from Seasonic. Buts lots of the newest GPUs only use 4 or 8 PCIe lanes, so not real good for older PCIe 2.0 or 3.0 builds. If you do upgrade your PSU, be sure to get a standard ATX type, because bigger ones will be too long to fit.
Yup, I 100% agree. I grabbed a similar ( smaller ) I7 model that came with 16g ram, a 256g ssd boot drive and a 1tb drive. I put the best GPU I could fit, a used 1650 non super.
