- Whisky in the 6 #209 features the Laphroaig Lore. This beauty is aged in a mix of sherry and bourbon casks. It contains whisky dating back to 1993. Check out the video to hear more from Rob.
Over price in Ontario at $195! I converted the price on the customer's site and it worked out to CAN$85!
Ya should cost less but tasty stuff.
This is one of my favorite drams, Rob! The Laphroaig 18 is very similar at around the same price point...
Just fyi.Distilleries are required to put information about added colouring on the Label here in Germany.
The Laphroaig Lore as all other Laphroaig Distillery bottlings are coloured.
Steffen F thanks for sharing brother. I should ask you first when I don’t know for certain. Cheers.
Thanks Rob. Great job as usual.
Nice review Rob , Got one of these awhile back haven't cracked it open yet . Looking forward to it now. Cheers
It's a peaty one. Very nice if you like that sort of thing.
My Laphroaig favorite. Bourbon and Sherry oh my and peat to boot!
Great review, thanks Rob!
Thanks buddy. Cheers.
I got leather on the nose, such as brand new leather shoes or plush leather sofa, really trippy
+nick parilac can totally see that.
The youngest whisky in that bottle is 7 years but Im there with you. Its such a fantastic bottle
Excellent review. I have the quarter cask at home from my brother, which I'm enjoying immensely. You're bang on with time in the glass. Adds so much. With the 48%, although maybe not needed, I personally find a splash of water in there, brings out some sweetness to the 'campfire'. Another great one compadres.
Good point Robby. The drop of water does help. Cheers brother.
Please do a smackdown for the fall...this vs ugi etc
+chopper's place lol I’ll see what I can do
@@WhiskyInThe6 thanks...also Rob: i have the highland park 12...i'm enjoying it and want to try the 18 but it is 2.5x the price...is it worth it in your op? i've read mixed reactions on the 18's value..some for it while others 'meh' ish...your op?
Awesome review Rob.... I have heard people rave about the Lore. Sounds like I need to go grab this:)
It's nice stuff Keith. I think you'll like it.
94 p.?
Hogibaer hahahaha
Good to talk about the palate evolution, it's real and we're all going through it, constantly changing - if we're lucky that is!
If that Laga 12 is the 2017 - I can't wait for you to bust that out.
Aqvavitae it’s the 2016 unfortunately. Is 2017 that much better
Whisky In The 6 I've not tried the 2016 to my memory. They're always great. The 2017 however, moves me. 😊 Did you catch the S4Ds comparison or Malted Man Cave's review? Both great.
Aqvavitae I did. I just grabbed what was available because it’s slim pickings unfortunately.
Enjoyed your review Rob. Most days Lore is my favorite Laphroaig. It’s normally $125 here in Michigan but last December I was lucky to get two bottles on flash sale at Julio’s in Massachusetts for $80 each. Too good to pass up.
Ya wow that's an incredible price. Love the bottle you posted on Snupps for the giveaway. Would love one of those.
Agreed a great dram indeed Rob, in Australia we can purchase at approx. $180.00. My non peated mates found this pallatable (like you I made them wait approx 10mins post pour) & I think they are now beginning to understand my obsession with Islay!
Tony Chehade Australian prices are often higher than here so that sounds like a reasonable price. The wait time is crucial in letting this one evolve in the glass. Cheers Tony. Thanks for tuning in.
Whisky In The 6 our governments know how to tax mate...it must be a commonwealth thing! I just recivieved a cigar order from US & tobacco tax downunder is over $900 per kg now!
Tony Chehade ouch. That hurts.
Whisky In The 6 yes, thanks to our Aussie taxes a $10 yank cigar works out to be $45+ downunder (our mob are too tax happy)! Re: laphroaig, I'm not sure if you have Aldi in Canada..but mid last year Aldi had the 10 for $65..sadly no longer stocked now, it didn't last long on their shelves
Great review.
Thanks buddy.
I enjoy this whisky, I get a red berry component on top of the notes you mentioned... I do feel some whiskeys younger than 10 years but it’s hard to detect, as you said Peat can hide a young spirit. Mike.
Good points brother. Thanks for watching Mike cheers.
Peated Italian whisky?! I haven’t heard of that before.
Joe Prestera yep. The whisky is calle Puni Alba
Sweet. It doesn't look like the LCBO has that. I'll have to keep my eyes open when I go out of town.
Love to hear your review of Hazelburn Barolo and Glendronach Virgin oak !
Sounds good Ludwig. I have the Octomore 7.4 scheduled for Friday, Monday Oct 8.1. So next Friday I can have the Hazelburn up for you. Cheers brother, thanks for all of your support.
Hey man, I love your palate because you’re super passionate about Sherry finished whisky, but I love that you’re reviewing smoky whisky as well. Took me awhile to like them as well, but now Lagavulin 16 and DE might be my deathbed drams. Cheers.
I love the Laga DE. Amazing stuff.
I know it's hard to get and expensive, but anyways look out for the old Lagavulin 2010 Distillery Only bottling. It's basically the DE in cask strength. Beautiful dram, my second favorite Laga. :-)
90 euro in the netherlands... great vid. Love the reviews
Pascal den Otter thanks Pascal. Appreciate you watching. Cheers.
Great review Rob! I see a box of Caol Ila 15 hiding. Can't wait for you to review that one.
Tom R picked that one up for you buddy. I knew you’d appreciate that.
I have the same bottle and I will drink along with your review.
Tom R I was lucky enough to get the half bottle of it from Peter White actually.
Nice job Rob. I see this one for $119 in Texas but have never tried it. Cheers
Bronco Rog if you like islay peated this one is great. It has a nice sherry twist.
Great review once again. Good point on the peated whisky front. Took me a while too, but there are still some I enjoy and some I despise.
Ya I can see that for sure. Which are some you don't like?
Caol Ila and Bowmore spring to mind - thinking about them still make me cringe! That said, I'm a big fan of the likes of Lagavulin and Laphroaig.

Great review, I enjoyed it. Haven’t tried this one yet.
Cheers from South Africa 🥃
THE WHISKY COUCH cheers brother. Thanks for stopping by.
Nice video! Bought it in Germany for 70 Euros. Its one of the too few whiskies which dropped in price and turned to be included into the core range of Laphroaig (which amused me as all of the "i don't open bottles, I collect" weirdos were quite pissed). Haven't tried it yet.
Did you have the Triple Wood and the 18y old? First is a bargain, well balanced with Sherry influence, second is discontinued and a real stunner. It is said that the Lore replaces the 15y old which itself once replaced the 18y old.
Everything older is probably excellent stuff but way out of my budget.
I haven't tried the Triple Wood or the 18. They are on my radar.
Very nice Rob. I give it a little higher score.
Scotch Test Dummies it’s solid stuff for sure.
Nice review as always - Definitely enjoy the Lore. Top three or five Islay? Also... do you have a top three or five Kavalans? :) Hope you're well!
Sean Mc Octomore anything, Bowmore 15 Laimrig and Lagavulin D. E are my favourites so far.
Sean Mc Manzanilla, Vinho Barrique and PX
Whisky In The 6 between Fino Sherry or Amontillado.. which would you pick?
Whisky In The 6 prefer Masterlcass 8.1 or 8.3 Octomore?
This stuff will “lure” you :)
Hi Rob,
I’m not too experienced with peated whiskies. I realy loved Talisker 18, Lagavulin 16 and their DE as well.
Do you think that i would love Laphroaig Lore?
Felix Berkowitz definitely not a bad option Felix. Depends on the price where you are I guess.
👍Sold! 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦
Robert Mello lol cheers brother.
What did you do to your beard?
Go Habs my 2 month old daughter would wince every time I kissed her so I got rid of it.
That's a pretty good reason ... but not good enough. She can kiss her mother! Beard On Bro! :)
Go Habs lmao!
Hey Rob, there is none of this available at any LCBO, is there another way to obtain bottles in Ontario other than through the LCBO?
Rich Lockyer depends what you’re looking for i guess. Email my buddy with stuff you’re looking for. He’s always able to help me out. marco.digiro@gmail.com
Man $200 for some Cats *** Maybe a sample but not a bottle for me at this time in my Whisky Journey
Whiskey Untitled it’s not cheap for sure.
Hey, would you try the Laphroaig 1815 Legacy Edition as well? I am interested how this might be compared to the Lore.
Should do a heads up with lore and ugi!
Finished my bottle of Ugi a while back unfortunately.
