Never been really that much of an R8 fan, but the review is great and that manual 'click-clack' gearbox is simply awesome. Love the traditional details like that.

Hi Paul, this exact Audi R8 is or used to be my uncles which he had for a while and sold. I remember this registration plate and have tons of pics of it if u don't believe me! Lovely car, nice to see its being taken after.

Great review, always cool to see a review by an actual owner rather than a journo. A pretty big step up from an Astra !!! nice work !. Hopefully folks will see that with a bit of hard work and effort that it is possible to own these sorts of motors. Picking up my GTR on Thursday and these videos are helping me get through the agonising wait !!!

I respect your taste Karan Sehmi, I've always had my eye on the R8 and Balboni Gallardo, one day when I complete med school...soon. *Might I suggest a better option than the M3 (which is amazing as well), the LOTUS ELISE. Literally half the price of the oh-so-original BMW, and built with super-car design. I've put about 38k total into my Elise and she gets to 60 in 3.8 seconds now, she's carrying a measly 4 pounds per horsepower, and the best part is it's a reliable toyota engine that I can replace with cheap parts. It's truly a weapon, and it looks cooler too, you'll get laid easier regardless if you track it or not :P.

Never tried the v10 but I drove the v8 on a track a few months ago, the noise of the v8 is completely intoxicating!

The flat bottom steering wheel is for quicker turning and to fully lock the steering quicker, hope this helps 👌😜
Tied between the R8 and a GTR, Both hovering in the used market around 35-40k mark, can't for the life of me decide which is the better car but your review was great bro!
Biggest Opportunity cost is only having Paddles in the GTR and no Manual like the R8. Speed discrepancies with regards to 0-62 are irrelevant, they are both RAPID.
But nice job man, Brilliant car!

The Audi r8 v8 model makes up around 420 horsepower? I always thought it could pull more hp but thats interesting. I just recently purchased my first automobile, its a 2006 c6 corvette and i believe it pulls in around 400 horsepower flat. I know its not a supercar but it is my first car and i don't think its bad at all, haha. I'm already thinking of which car should be my second and its either an Audi r8, corvette stingray, or lamborghini gallardo. A lot of people might say its not possible to obtain a car of such magnitude but look at Supercars of london, his second car was an Audi r8 at 23!!! haha, i like seeing young people drive nice cars, it inspires me and motivates me to work my ass off so i can one day purchase a supercar.
My R8 is on the way from out of town and I'm 21 \o/

Brilliant car! I love the gated shifter and the looks of the car. I agree the V8 is plenty for public roads and you want a car you can handle in everyday driving. What about luggage space? Do you have enough room for groceries and things like that?

Car enthusiasts make me happy, young car freaks make me even more happy. Seems we be headed for an uninspirational eco electric car era. Good for you that you spent your money on an natural aspirated V8 and good for us who dream about that. Would never have guessed you'd be an R8 guy, judging from your looks. But great review. It's a beautiful car but i'll be honest that clunk sound when you change gear because of the metal gear surround would annoy the hell out of me so if I bought one i'd go for the V10 and the automatic.
