Omg. I have never laughed out loud so much during one of your reviews 😂. You should honestly put together a short compiling all the fantastic statements you made (e.g. “I can’t think of any occasion where it would be appropriate to wear this”). Then imagine you are some regular Joe who’s never experienced fragrance content. They would think you/we were all out of our minds!
Pulling out Antaeus at as an alternative put it over the top. Jacques Polge is spinning in his grave. If he’s dead. Can’t remember.
ALL that being said, I’m super intrigued to smell this, Bat, T-Rex and Sacred Scarab at some point. Never gotten into the brand, but ya know, for research purposes!
Yeah this one is something else :D
Antaeus is a masterpiece and was not mean to be offensive at all, it's just a similar, MUCH more wearable build.
T-Rex is like burnt olive trees and bbq sauce, Sacred Scarab is really unique and not that stinky. Still never tried Bat :D
I used to have the T-rex as my signature scent and, yes, it was fun. In the high heat the smoky opening fades off much quickly, making it more wearable; while in autumn, winter, if you are going to stay indoor, you just blow the spot with an hairdryer for a few seconds after spaying it, to make the toughest and most volatile parts go off right away.
@@ChristianCantelli T-Rex is a masterpiece of perfumery, the best part of it is the massive evolution during the wear, starts off rough and harsh and ends up incredibly smooth.
Sounds perfect for someone who regularly soils themselves! 🙂 In truth, it's one of a handful from the brand I haven't smelled for that very reason. 😂 But I'm glad you appreciate it Dan! I feel like it should come with a t-shirt that says, "Yeah, that's my perfume." 🤣
@@justaddlight that’s actually a T-shirt that I would need for real, some stuff, especially at the office… thanks for the comment!
Btw the frag is actually awesome.
"It's not poopy, it's pissy...The rose comes across as gasoline vapors...given the scent profile, I would assume that wearing in public people may think you've peed yourself." My friend, I hope to never smell this fragrance in my life 😂. I thoroughly enjoyed the review nonetheless
@@ShanMasala-we8cw it’s not that bad, I mean, it’s stinky for sure but not gag inducing, just really interesting 😂
It's gorgeous, and the dry down reminds me of an unlit maduro cigar, cedar and all. One of my most treasured fragrances.
@@coreyryujinmcintyre1416 I love it so much too. Amazing artistic work ❤️
I used to own this. Tough wear
@@RichMitch it’s a really tough wear but something about it makes me love it so much.
I actually don't have any problem wearing T-Rex to the office and making it my signature scent. It's definitely a bold choice, but it can also serve as a great conversation starter. That said, I agree with your conclusion about Hyrax. While it’s a beautiful scent, I can’t imagine a situation where I’d want to wear it-perhaps only if I wanted to perplex someone I meet.
I haven't worn T-Rex to the office yet, not it's opening, not that I find it offensive or anything, it's just super loud and burnt and don't feel like overwhelming people :D
Thanks for this review, and thanks for mentioning the Antaeus resonance. I remember that Antaeus was quite an outlier scent even in the 80s, not at all typical of men's "colognes" of that time. And what a beauty it is until this day... I guess I will have to dig my old bottle out of storage now and wear it tomorrow. See what you've done? 🙃
Thanks for watching and commenting! Antaeus kind of embraces the same concept of Hyrax but MUCH less obnoxious
After college, I moved to the Castro district in San Francisco.
The notes of hot steeped piss, leather and rose buds became my ever-present disgruntled neighbors.
Yeah, most cities have a place like that, many years away from Rome and I can definitely still smell the area around the station...
@ The glass elevator in that station. I’ll never forget that smell. 😂 All the best.
Thanks for the review! The brand sounds really interesting I definitely want to give it a try, though I don't think it's a available here in the UK😢
It's really, really hard to find in Switzerland where I live but I think Zoologist ships from Canada to the UK with no issues, might even be favorable with the exchange. The samples are killer :)
Starting the review with: "This is the stinkiest"😂. I've only smelled Tiger. But I'm very intrigued by the brand. ❤❤👏👏
@@Roy_Godiksen well, it’s a pretty harsh frag to pull off 😂
Tiger is SO good. Linear but I love it
@@rherbm Tiger is awesome, tried a decant and really like it. Cristiano Canali knows his stuff ;)
thank you for the review! did you try anything Homoelegans? brand from Holland, very affordable comparing to Zoo, so they have thing called Quality Of Flesh. the closest to Hyrax that i’ve ever smelled, fantastic yet cringey. love it.
@@baba_s_kosoy wow, you never stop learning, going to check it out right now 👍
I admire your resiliance to try this around people by how you described it! Have you tried Complex from Boadicea the Victorious? I haven't tried Hyrax but I got similar reactions from Complex, I found it unbreable to be honest, which was disappointing as I thought it sounded really interesting. (It was 😀 )
@@blacktapes3475 never tried it but now you got my attention! BtV are not easy to get here, I’ll keep my eyes open 👍
Just when I think I’ve gotten my ‘must try’ list under control, here comes another one. Especially as I’ve been on an animalic kick lately…
Just picked up Arquiste El, which is compared to Kouros.
I’ve still yet to try anything from Zoologist, as I know it would be like opening Pandora’s Box, but I’m getting more and more tempted.
not all Zoologists are animals bombs, a lot of them are actually really pleasant and wearable. Some though... this, Rhyno, T-Rex, Dodo...
I need this!
@@жизненный_опыт I you are in this camp, I highly recommend it, it’s absolutely awesome 😎
Off topic but I received my bottle of Amouage Outlands today. I really like the bottle in person, but I wish the cap was ceramic for the price. The scent profile is very interesting to me. I get a lot of patchouli with a sort of sweet citrus accompanied by aromatics and spices. I don't get a lot, if any oud, and the drydown for me is ambery with remnants of spices. On my skin there is a creamy aspect that might be the sandalwood. I watched your review for it and I'd like to know if Outlands has grown on you at all. For me it's about a 7.5/10 right now. I have samples coming for Reasons and Lustre :)
@@EndersFPS yeah the bottles look a LOT better in person! Outlands has grown on me but it’s still not one of my favorite Amouages. I have a full ranking of my bottles coming soon 😉
Now that you have had experience with Salome, how do you think it compares with Hyrax (especially when it comes to the animalic elements)? As always, thanks for your content!
Thanks for the question! They ar every comparable scent wise. Salome is more wearable, balanced towards the florals and toned down. Hyrax is just an overdose of ammonia/pissy animalics which actually make the scent very bright in the opening.
Drydown is similar for both with similar longevity.
Are they redundant? Probably. But Salome is ok to wear and I like Zoologist so I'm keeping both :D
Thanks for great reviews. Also, try Ormonde Jayne Montabaco Intensivo, its uniqueness is matched only by Ganymede. Very ethereal and molecular (in a good way) fragrance, I'm interested what would you think of it
I've gotten a ton of recommendations for that, I'm in the process of getting a bottle :)
6:15 🤢 😂 … I was disappointed with Camel; nice hit at the beginning, but fades too quickly. Thanks for another great review. 🙌
@@richard220273 thanks for watching and commenting! Camel is great but longevity is really not up to standard.
Another option I'd give is Night by Akro. It's by far one of the stinkiest cumin notes I've come across. There is a slight rosy powder nuance to it though, which is nice. Definitely wouldn't wear it public either lmao
@@befuftlefumpter3817 that one I tried, it’s rough but completely different, Hyrax smells like urine and toilets 😂
Where and when do you prefer to wear this over all fragrances in your colection?
@@bombel2297 I’m weirdly attracted to this scent for whatever reason. It’s a really hard wear so I don’t wear this in public, it’s mostly my guilty pleasure evening type thing. If I wake up with any trace of this in the morning it’s beautiful and smells good by then
I don't think you can find zoologist in discounter
not very common but I've gotten Sloth discounted at a very good price. You just have to find the shop that carries them.
Hi, I've been following your channel for a while and I really like the way you describe perfumes, so much so that I can almost smell them in the air. Your intonation is a bit monotonous and without much emotion, which is probably a consequence of your origin, that is, the country you live in 😂. As for perfumes that contain the smell of animal glands and secretions, my advice is not to apply such perfumes on parts not covered by clothing. Two to three sprays on the skin in the area above the navel and between the breasts. Try it and see the reaction of people around you. Good luck in your future work, I'm with you.
@@mladentesic5053 thanks so much for the comment! I wear most of my frags on skin anyway as the longevity on clothes is just too long. Thanks for the comment on my tone, I’ll try to mix it up a little as best as I can.
The whole brand on next level of perfumery 💯
I would love to ask you do you have instagram account?
@@faisalalkharashi8966 I completely agree, I love the brand so much.
Yes, I have an Insta account but as of now it’s only for messaging.
