    I am by no means a Splatoon noob and also not a pro, but as someone with several hundred hours of playtime across both current Splatoon games, I do believe I'm experienced enough to claim that this video is indeed very informative and good for those who are just starting out.

      @@user-rk9jg9ir6g All the online gamemodes requires an NSO subscription. The singleplayer campaign does not.
      I don't know if you need NSO to access the in-game shops. You don't really have much use for them if you can't play online, but it may be enough to be connected to the Internet to access them should you care for that.

    Absolutely phenomenal guide, incredibly informative and manages to be incredibly useful to newcomers. In particular I have to praise the audio mixing for being incredibly clear and well balanced, I especially love that the ending cut with the celebratory screaming was toned down significantly so that I wouldn't need to lower my volume temporarily. Hope to see more content in the future! I await your next video excitedly.

    I think something you should mention is to totally test out the different sensitivity options for the right stick and motion controls. It really helps with making the game more accessible as it lets you find your preference and really helps for those that might find motion controls too difficult to use. Otherwise, this is a really good guide for new players.

    I've always had an interest in the series since the first game was announced, however, Splatoon 3 is the first entry that I'm going to be playing (Largely since I didn't have the consoles before, and being a minor meant I couldn't just go buy them)! After trying out the testfire, I definitely still need practice (Especially since I couldn't get motion controls down in a full 12 hours of straight gameplay), and was planning on doing the hero mode to get that down, before trying to get far in ranked matches (or anarchy matches as they're called in splatoon 3.)

    One big thing he missed was the clothes branding. Based on the brand of your gear effects how often you will gain a specific clothing slot ability. They are also setup to never gain some slot abilities too. This is used to help you grind for specific abilities on clothes ... so use those Drink Tickets wisely. Drink Tickets can be received from Salmon Run or the Campaign.

    I'm literally about to pick up Splatoon 3 in the mail today, I have never played one, but I have always been kinda interested, since I play a LOT of competitive games and shooters, and my stream chat has told me I should use the 3rd game as a opportunity to try it, play it, and get competitive! This info was just what I was looking for, now I know what I am jumping into, and what types of weapons I want to try. Great to hear it from a fellow Australian, that was just the icing on the cake to hear it from a local player who is big on the competitive scene! I can't wait to dive in later today and get to practicing. I don't usually use gyro controls at all, I normally struggle to get used to them, but I will take your advice and actually try them this time around!

    You forgot at least one *MASSIVE* and important thing; ability chunks.
    The gear system isn't doomed to total RNG; you can get ability chunks by resetting gear, and then use those chunks on empty gear slots to pick exactly the ability you want.

    • @coachcookie_
      @coachcookie_  2 года назад +2

      I haven't forgotten! You're right, ability chunks are quite crucial to play optimally! (I spent hundreds of hours grinding for my sets :P)
      However, I didn't think it was necessary for a complete beginner's guide. It would be more fitting to talk about ability chunks and grinding methods in a separate guide for players to seek out once they're no longer a beginner. But you're right, it was probably worth mentioning.
      Thank you very much for your comment!

    • @greyrifterrellik5837
      @greyrifterrellik5837 2 года назад +1

    Thank you for making this guide! I thought not many people would be new to the Splatoon series, so no one would find it sensible to create a guide. But you did! a very up-to-date, informative explanations of the games intricacies. I first played Splatoon 2 in a Target store as a teen, but I never got the game. Nonetheless, I was hooked on it, I was so excited to see Splatoon 3 being announced and I am super stoked to play.
    My only question is: What is the purpose of the penalty in Clam Blitz and Splatzones. Is it to prevent one team from overtaking the match in one fell swoop?
    Great video!!

    • @coachcookie_
      @coachcookie_  2 года назад

      I'm very glad you enjoyed!
      The penalty score serves to punish a team for losing control of the objective *right* before they win off a push. In both Tower Control and Rainmaker, if an attacking team gets team wiped right before they win, the objective will end up moving very far backwards before they can try again, which both forces them to make another substantial push to win *and* rewards the defending team by giving them more room to breathe before they defend again. Under the same circumstances during SZ and CB, though, there's nothing stopping a team from coming in and instantly winning the game in only a few seconds. The penalty emulates that extra bit of effort needed to get your score back to where it was when you lost it.
      Sorry if this was a bit technical! Thank you very much for your question, and thank you for watching!! 😁

    A lot of people that I’ve tried to introduce to splatoon hate motion controls, and saying “just keep using them, they help like a lot.” Is true but it doesn’t make them understand. (not trying to be mean I literally couldn’t come up with how to explain it until a week ago)
    So why do they help? The reason is that it allows really REALLY precise aim. It’s the equivalent to a mouse for a pc gamer. Like imagine using the arrow keys or something to aim, not ideal right? Obviously you’d rather use the thing you can control precisely with your own hand movement.
    Have a nice day to anyone who saw this text wall and decided to read it :)
