Pat Carroll's delivery of "Poor Unfortunate Souls" is possibly the best delivered Disney song. Not necessarily the best sung, but best delivered. Every evil laugh and accentuation is necessary. She simply nailed it. And I can't help but very loudly sing along with her when she says "And never underestimate the importance of body language...HA!'. I love that line.

I would disagree but only because Ursula with the trident was able to control the entire ocean... which, when you think about it, she essentially rules the entire planet as a result of that.
Ursula has always been my favorite Disney villain since I was a kid! Wouldn’t that be amazing if they made an Ursula movie like they did with Maleficient ?! How awesome that would be ;D
In the musical they are. In the revival, they have a song called daddys little angel. It explains ursulas background. She was the seventh sister and the least liked. She ended up killing all of her sisters and her father to get into power but she forgot that she had a little brother: triton. all morgana wanted was to just best ursula because of the denial she faced as a child. morgana however was not killed but instead imprisoned in an ice cube. really hope Disney still does something with that.
Stan Cipher But Ursula was sinister and a sadistic Sure Morgana was a villain but she seems tame compared to Ursula. Maybe they toned it down because Ursula gave small children nightmares.
Emma Frost exactly my point. Other than jealousy morgana had little to no reason to be a villain and seeing as she is manipulating a child it wouldn't be surprising if she stayed tame. While I like morgana a bit more than ursula I still have to admit ursula is the crazy one and that Disney need to work something out with morgana to make her a better character.
I love Ursula. I will always love poor unfortunate souls. I think, if you truly consider it, Ursula is the good guy. in my understanding Ursula and trident are not the only children of Poseidon. he has sexy with everything in the ocean but when Poseidon fell for a human he made murpeople, according to the lore of the Greeks. he is like the zues of the ocean, raping everything he comes in contact with and making lost of hybrid children (Zeus's famous halflings Hercules, Amazons, & the minatoar) Ursula was most likely just child from previous consorts. the human children just happened to be his favorite so he left the magic to them. Perseus is said to be decent of mermaids, has many water cousins. it makes sense.
I think the Ursula and her sister were friends with King Triton and Ursula had a crush on him but he turned her down to be with Ariel's mother. Ursula was jealous of the relationship and the fact that Ariel looked like her mother drove Ursula crazy
That doesn't make sense, Triton and Ursula are different races as you see. And Triton's parents are both sea people. Or is one of Triton's parents a squid species?!

I believe that Ursula is not King Triton's sister, but a distant relative, as I believe they are related through their ancestry as they both might be descended from Poseidon. They know about each other, and I think Ursula despises Triton because he recieved the Tritan, which was very powerful, possibly more powerful than the shell she received. Ursula was hands down a better villain, as she was born with a thirst for power, unlike Morgana who developed it. Also, Morgana was not as determined as Ursula, and Ursula always wanted benefits for herself(not that morgana didn't) but Ursula had a greater thirst than morgana, which was probably why King Triton despised her(if they were relatives). Their family were probably believers of good, and didn't want power, but he was ashamed to have a relative like her, who loved being evil and had a thirst for power. My favourite song(from the little mermaid) has to be Poor Unfortunate Souls. They way Ursula says 'don't underestimate the importance of body language, ha' gives me goosebumps. I loved the musical for the Little Mermaid, especially the fact that they put the brother-sister relationship between Ursula and Triton back in there. Ursula is my second favorite Disney villainess, tied with Hades in the villain category, because of how dang fabulous she is while being scary and wicked. And both of them went into the character inspiration board for my favorite Disney villain, Dr. Facilier.
Morgana was such a letdown and a huge cop-out. Instead of creating a new villain to oppose Melody, they created a character that was essentially Ursula, but not nearly as cool or as threatening. I don't accept Morgana as being canon to the Little Mermaid story...actually, I don't accept the whole sequel as canon! It could have been executed better. But that being said, Ursula is by far the best of the two. The Little Mermaid is one of my absolute favorites! Nice work on this one, I have always been genuinely curious about Ursula's origin.
I would love to see Rebel Wilson as Ursula in the real live action film. She has the voice, has experience playing self-loving characters and her comedian side could give another color of the evil character and also the whole movie. A bunch of the full stories are hard to do because there is little information on them outside of the movies, but Ursula had a ton of background. Thanks for watching!
Ursula actually never lied to Ariel, she told her what would happen if she didn't pay the price, same as her other deals. And Ursula had every right to be mad at Trident, and she actually was really honest with Ariel about her deals and what would happen if she didn't pay. So please don't make Ursula to be lying when she wasn't.
love this feels like the appendices from lord of the rings or something not sure if this is still canon from Disney but I like to think it is just gives you a deeper rabbit hole for the film so EPIC well done vid bud
2:38 thats right! in fact in a deleted scene Ursula is talking to a merman she made a deal with and revealed that the undersea flower that she requested for the price in 3 days, was out of season (not blooming)
I’m a bit surprised that you didn’t mention her original story of the Little Mermaid. In the original, she wasn’t necessarily the villain, she had no ulterior motive when giving the spell to Ariel, she was just doing what she was asked. Also, in the original where Ariel dies, her sisters try to find a counter spell, so they cut off their hair in return for it, and are given a knife to kill the prince with. Ariel doesn’t do it and dies instead, but that makes me think that it wasn’t really the witch that was evil, just the spells she cast had high prices. Just sharing my opinion, like if you agree the witch is misunderstood.
Fun fact: in the deleted song "Daddy's little angle" it reveled that ursula was poseidon's youngest daughter of his 7 daughters, becusse she was born as an octopid while her sisters were mermaids, she killed them out of her jealousy to get her father's attention, but when her young brother triton came poseidon loved him more than her, and when poseidon was on his deathbed he passed to his children magical items. To triton the magical trident and to ursula the nautillus shell. But it was scratched and replaced with i want the good old times back.
You ask for a favorite song however I prefer not only how they are used, but also how how the rest of the musical score is used is extremely compelling. That is why people like John Williams and Alan Menken (who would eventually be regarded as the John Williams of Disney) are so respected (and if they aren't, they deserve to be), because they scores they compose aid in the storytelling so much that you may only need their music to understand the plot.
I really enjoyed this video. My only question is: what is the source that you got this information? Was it "Poor unfortunate souls"?? The original script? The cartoon? Or just your own hypothesis??
Ursula is a favorite of mine loved the video. Poor Unfortunate Souls is my favorite for sure. Thank you for the fun video and I like the idea of them being siblings I totally support and would love to see it in a full on prequel.
someone wrote a fanfic actually, I wish the fanfic was legit, but sadly the backstory doesn't fit. basically Ursula was once a beautiful mermaid, and Zeus saw her and wanted her to be queen of olympus, and ditch Hera. However, Hera found out and cursed Ursula to look like an ugly squidfolk. Zeus came back, and rejected Ursula causing Ursula to be bitter and hateful towards the Olympians, in this case her rage was against Poesidon and Triton.
I heard that Vanessa was how Ursula looked when she lived in the palace before she turned into the Cecaelia. And then I heard Vanessa was a human princess that wanted to be a mermaid but Ursula killed her and used her skin as a future disguise
Actually there was a Disney released book. I cannot remember what it was called but it included mini stories in it, one of which explaining how triton became king, apparently Ursula was a tyrant who ruled antlantica and trident grew up a warrior, and thus went to overthrow her, and banish her. I remember reading that book as a kid and whilst this theory is cool the book had already provided a full story of this.
I think Ursala is king Tryton's jaded ex partner. Ursula is a good villain and I'm sure she is also a hero in someone else's story. I'd like to see more backstory/ mythology on the good and bad side of Arielle, Ursula, and Tryton. my favourite song is the bear necessities. Thanks for a great video! :)
Wotso Videos oh I know. How did Ursula turn into a human? And remember when Scuttle peaked in at Vanessa room and saw her reflection to be the sea witch? Now how can scuttle, a bird, that does not live in the sea, knows what the sea witch looks like?

I have loved Ursula since I was a young child and I actually root for her in the movie. lol. I have always wanted back story for her. I think I'll have to check out the Poor Unfortunate Soul novel. Thanks for making the video.
There's one thing that I don't understand of Ursula's timeline: in the Hercules series, Hades gets to know Herc is alive before he went to train with Phil, but then fell in the river of oblivion and forgot the series' events, hence why he's surprised of Hercules being alive in the movie. How do you explain how Ariel decides to trust the witch that in the tv series used her collection to take over her city plus many other schemes that OPENLY shows her to be evil!? "She's angry at her father" it's not an excuse to trust a witch that YOU KNOW it's bad news no matter the pros and cons. Even in Kingdom Hearts she does that, and it's more stupider... cause she's falling for the SAME TRICK! "I'll let you see new worlds" "Didn't you already tricked me with that?" "Ehmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... no?" "Ok, then"
i kinda agree with the theory that ursula and king triton are blood related.. if you connect the dots with the little mermaid part 2 sebastian said something about no other merperson can touch the trident not unless it is the descendants of triton... please correct me if im wrong 😵

Ursula had her “poopsies” intervened on Ariel’s and Eric’s kiss. Goes to show, don’t even make a deal with the devil
....i love ursala.. and the song poor unfortunate souls..
When I was little I was obsessed with the little mermaid but I didn't like Ariel a no no no no
my favorite was Ursula and she still is my favorite...
I love the big sexy queen
Poor Unfortunate Souls is hands down the best villain song ever
love this feels like the appendices from lord of the rings or something not sure if this is still canon from Disney but I like to think it is just gives you a deeper rabbit hole for the film so EPIC well done vid bud
I appreciate the support. Thanks for watching!
"Friend like me" The genie
I got the role of ursula
That's awesome!
I almost got Scar, but instead I got Bonzai.
Joama Stjean Ito
Are you serious
You poor unfortunate soul hope you do well and don’t forget body language HA
Great background on the story of Ursula. Would be great if someone did a movie on Ursula. :)
RIP to the one and only legendary actress who voiced Ursula ... PAT CARROLL!!!!!
"Reflection" in Mulan is my all time favorite. It is amazing!
It makes me so happy!
It's such a great song that I feel is sometimes forgotten. Thanks for watching!
'Personally I enjoyed Hakuna Matata'WHO DOESN'T?!
I kinda felt sorry when Ariel made Ursula miss her shot towards Edward and towards the Ursula only friends instead...
Ursula is one of my favourite Disney Villains and villains in general.
2:38 thats right! in fact in a deleted scene Ursula is talking to a merman she made a deal with and revealed that the undersea flower that she requested for the price in 3 days, was out of season (not blooming)
My favourite Disney song is If I Never Knew You from Pocahontas because it was my very first dance solo song I did for competitions
Hellfire is my fave Disney song
I believe he posts his sources in the description.
all wikia, so 1 step up from his opinion. needs better research.
There is a book
waroftheworlds2008 then you do the research and make your own video
Isaac of Wotso Videos' theories do make sense, whether it's a hypothesis or not.
Is there a video saying anything about Morgana? :)
No there's not, but there could be! Thanks for watching!
Please make the Jafar! He is my favourite villain!
Ursula is a favorite of mine loved the video. Poor Unfortunate Souls is my favorite for sure. Thank you for the fun video and I like the idea of them being siblings I totally support and would love to see it in a full on prequel.
Sebastian: Ariel! Where are you going?
Ariel: I’m going to see Ursula.
Sebastian: No Ariel, she’s too dangerous! She’s a monster! She’s a big demon!
Ursula is my favorite villian to hear of troubles makes me feel nothing
ItalianMikey89 Yeah well her ending was brilliant though
ItalianMikey89 Ikr but everything sassy comes to an end...unfortunately Ursula did too
If Ursula and Triton are siblings why isn't Ursula a mermaid? How did she turn into a squid
Some people think they are half siblings which would explain the obvious physical differences. Thanks for watching!
In the musical, Ursula attempted to use black magic to try and overthrow Kink Triton. Doing this altered her form and turned her into an octopin.
someone wrote a fanfic actually, I wish the fanfic was legit, but sadly the backstory doesn't fit.
basically Ursula was once a beautiful mermaid, and Zeus saw her and wanted her to be queen of olympus, and ditch Hera. However, Hera found out and cursed Ursula to look like an ugly squidfolk. Zeus came back, and rejected Ursula causing Ursula to be bitter and hateful towards the Olympians, in this case her rage was against Poesidon and Triton.
NaesTheFox that actually sounds a lot like Medusa and Poseidon's story.
Sailor Moon Uchu she's a octopus
This video was interesting. I like it! 😀😎
I'm glad you enjoyed!! Thanks for watching.
I heard that Vanessa was how Ursula looked when she lived in the palace before she turned into the Cecaelia. And then I heard Vanessa was a human princess that wanted to be a mermaid but Ursula killed her and used her skin as a future disguise
1:04-1:07 Omg what a beautiful piece of art!
I played Ursula in a school play. It was so much fun
That's awesome! Did it go well? Thanks for watching!
OH I JUST CANT WAIT TO BE KING!!!!
Madolyn Fries That’s the Lion King! 😂
But you already knew that. 😂
Amazing video !!! Great job
+It's Me Tamara Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Stay awesome.
It's Me Tamara really
ELSA'S FULL STORY
Ursula is by far my favorite Disney villain. Maleficent comes in a very close second. She was super scary in the cartoon...
Thank you Isaac for such a great video!
Lmao gotta love Ursula 😂💀
She so big n sexy
@@italym6410 sksks I- 😂😭
Ursula wasn't as bad as all. I mean, she made the deal with Ariel and Ariel agreed with the terms. Ariel supposed to be the mean girl.
but she rigged the deals and tried to sway ariel with lies
my favorite driver song is I can go the distance from Hercules
+Ezranisha Banks It's a great pump up song! Thanks for watching!
There's no comparison between Ursula and Morgana. I'm offended on Ursula's behalf.
Personally... I'm a much bigger Ursula fan. Thanks for watching!
tell us more about Ursula
What else would you like to know? Thanks for watching!
Wotso Videos
me
Wotso Videos oh I know. How did Ursula turn into a human? And remember when Scuttle peaked in at Vanessa room and saw her reflection to be the sea witch? Now how can scuttle, a bird, that does not live in the sea, knows what the sea witch looks like?
My favorite Disney song is "Part of your World."
Danielle i like Under the Sea..but Part of your World is a close second
d1nonlyd ars Yeah Under the Sea is one I like too. But Part of Your World always got me all in my Disney princess feels when I was little and would sing it 😂 and it still does so that's why it's my fav 😂

Danielle Favorite Disney song is BE OUR GUEST from Beauty and the Beast
My favorite is Reflections from Mulan lol
honestly Ursula is my favourite disney character
I have loved Ursula since I was a young child and I actually root for her in the movie. lol. I have always wanted back story for her. I think I'll have to check out the Poor Unfortunate Soul novel. Thanks for making the video.
This is great... What about maleficen...?
She is one of my favorite villains. I'm definitely going to do her! Thanks for watching!
My favourite!
I like your channels. I SUB
Welcome to the party and thanks for watching!
1. Yes
2. Ursula
3. Bear necessities
I love videos like this, good work with the storyline! Idk how on earth I’d do this, it’s really cool! I really like these videos!
Luna Black actually he said no one can pull the tridon free from the poteum where it was sitting at (I'm watching the movie now with my little cousin)
