Got one of these and really impressed with the build quality. So far working perfectly with over 50miles on it. Chassis stiffness is awesome! Ran a 4000kv on 3s through it with no issues. Currently.runs holmes 550 35t with 1080 and pitbull rock beasts, excellent machine.
I built a rig off that chassis. It is pretty sweet. Turned it all around so battery is up front. Didn't use portals just scx10 aluminum axles. Used 120amp esc sensored with like 2200kv motor. Used 240 degree 35kg servo for like a robot arm, you can turn the rates down drains less energy from the system. Its a slow moving servo, but the torque and digital coreless gives it so much control. I think i ended up buying those same drive shafts for it. Bought a 6 channel radio and receiver for it for later add-ons. The tires i already had aluminum beadlocks, metal front and rear bumper. Got a plastic transmission case with hardened steel gears. Have aluminium case on the way. Weighs 7-10 pounds. Nothing gets hot on it as far as electronics go and have yet to have a brown out do to power consumption. After it was said and done, got a VW baja bug body on sale for like $20 at hobby shop, $15 in paint, $2 in tape. The total cost of my built was less than a brand new all plastic, bone stock scx10 deadbolt. When i added it up and saw that i built another a little different with front mounted motor/transmission and mid transfer case. If your able to mount that battery up front it really makes a difference. The truck is solid! Only thing different between your vid and my truck is the axle, trans case, tires (1.9's here), shocks (120mm because im not running portals), and the power system. I would run an 1/8 scale power system or a beefy 1/10 scale system. I almost burned up a 37 turn and 55 turn 540 brushed with 60amp (120 burst) esc. If you like "crawling" as much as i got into it your gonna love that truck!.!.!
I built an identical chassis bit by bit from eBay only differences are the links, portals, bumper and my chassis rails are actual SCX10 jobbies. Obviously fitted my own wheels and electronics. And dont have the diff guards on my silver axles. Havnt actually run mine yet so interested to see how it performs!
I would seriously stick a short wheel base XJ Jeep Cherokee hard body body on it as they are quite literally bulletproof And they fit literally perfect on the Scx10
Great Steve..i tell the missus no more crawlers after i bought the RGT Pro and then you go and show us this...that is freakin awesome mate!!! we need to see this one on the rocks for sure-another cool vid once again ...thank you!
@@RCTanksTrucks247 i was thinking its 600 or more. 400 is ok if you look what a plastic Axial crawler cost its even cheep 😄👍 it even has alloey rims !!!
Their flagship Ultra build is right around $830. Under half that $2000 estimate. $830 for a high quality rig with unmatched support and continuous improvement isn't a bad deal for those who can afford them. The price of admission is fairly steep but arent all premium things in life? The 410s are basically a fully upgraded truck right from the box equipped with strong and reliable parts. The ZD trucks are a conglomeration of copied/knocked off parts and outdated designs. They are similar in look possibly to some but the 2 play in entirety different leagues.
@@highlandcrawler calm down. the ultra isnt 100% metal and carbon. now imagine if vanquish made a 100% metal and carbon crawler. how much would they charge? get it now?
@@jessie38supercharged Calm down? I'm just typing an opinion and mellow as can be. Supping morning coffee and taking in some YT vids bud. Just because something is "all metal and carbon" unfortunately doesn't automatically make it better. The carbon frame is made from low grade carbon and a copycat of the scx. What's to desire about it? It offers no geometry upgrades or extra mounting options over a stock decade old Axial frame that's at least steel and weldable. I understand the bling factor of carbon but I wouldn't write home about this frame. Who wants metal rodends? Seriously lol! Have you ever ran them? Slop out in the first few runs then start falling apart shortly after then get replaced with a revo end. Whats the thread on those links? Tiny 3mm grubs that mostly everyone moved away from? There are places for metal, plastic, carbon etc. but just because a vehicle is made with the majority of one thing does not equate to automatic superiority or the best performance. The term "all metal" makes me cringe when I see it having been down that road myself years ago. Vanquish would never build a comparable rig to these as they are not targeting the same audience but I will agree with you. If...IF they did build a rig part for part in similar materials it would be exorbitant in price. Remember the Ripper? OUCH!!!
They did come pretty close with the Ripper but that's in a complete different arena to the "all metal" rigs and even the VS410s. The chassis and body sets were $1700 area iirc and runners went up over $5k. I get your point on price but I'm figuring in perceived value also. For me a $400 pile of import aluminum junk parts vs a $900 quality rig that will last me for years and be well supported is an easy choice. Say your at Axialfest or scale nats and you snap an axle. Mosey up to the VP booth and guaranteed they will have you back in action in minutes. The $900 investment just paid it forward for ya. What happens when the import breaks? There's no booth and nobody coming to your aid. Your on your own to try and source parts. Sometimes easy but sometimes maddening. Personally the choice is throw $400 in the trash vs invest $900 into my hobby. Admittedly I've thrown the $400 away in the past and learned some valuable lessons.
Nice! But I wonder about the width. On an scx10, the skid plate is wider than the cross braces, so how does this line up? Does it have a narrower skid plate than standard?
Hi. I buyed two kits on rcmart, for crawling. Good chassies and good waith to it. I used two jeep cheokees bodies in hard plastic, who works well. One with a bed, other closed
I've been thinking about getting this rc for a good while now. But I'm new to the crawling thing so I don't know if I want to spend that much money on a new rig
Great chassis .. super cool .. great engineering .. love it .. how about an old Land Rover body .. I'm a Land Rover fan .. an original. keep up the good work and vids
thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience! awesome product, and you nailed it in the assembly. I may be getting one of those in a few months. Cheers, mate!
That looks nice, but as a critic, i noticed that there are some countersunk holes in the carbon, i do belive that it would be good to seal the carbon before use, it looks raw.. But as always, nice video :)
Sweet looking rig Steve. It's a bit pricey for right now. Although I'm thinking about it. I really do like it. Can you let me know about how heavy it is ? I think with that front bumper you are limited as to what kind of body you can use. Probably going to be a big one. Let me know. Love your vids keep rollin
