    the shloka गङ्गे च यमुने चैव गोदावरि सरस्वति ।
    नर्मदे सिन्धु कावेरि जलेऽस्मिन् संनिधिं कुरु ॥
    gaṅge ca yamune caiva godāvari sarasvati .
    narmade sindhu kāveri jale’smin saṃnidhiṃ kuru ..
    is from the hymn, Ahnika Sutravali (verse 106)
    and, so what sanjeev says ins one explanation for the sapta sindu (rivers); But this shloka also exists from quite some time back...this is also an auspicious hymn recited by millions of people daily , for a very long time.

    Hapta Hindu is mentioned in Vendidad as the last country or place our of 16 countries. The first country that is mentioned in Vendidad is Airanyo Viego.

    Hindu word was not given by Persians.
    According to the Brihaspati Agama the word 'Hindu' is formed with the letter 'Hi' from the Himalayas and 'Indu' from Indu Sarovar (the Southern Ocean), conveying the entire stretch of our motherland.
    The Brihaspati Agama says:
    हिमालयं समारभ्य यावदिंदुसरोवरम् ।
    तं देवनिर्मितं देशं हिंदुस्थानं प्रचक्ष्यते ।।

    I would like to know what the word Hindu means in Persian? They changed it so y heir version had to have a meaning. Why did they change it.

    Sindhu is real name of Hindu, If you read some more books You will find seven rivers in past near Haryana punjab other part in pakistan was named on rivers was Singhu.

    जिनके खुद के ही ग्रंथ का नाम अवेस्था है वो सिंधु pronounce नही कर पाते थे. Never heard such dumb logic.
