I am right now in Puerto Morelos ( first travel in 2 years), I came here based on Vagabond recommendation few months ago. We first went to Tulum, then Playa del Carmen, each a bit different and Puerto Morelos is the best! Love the beach side of town especially! Thank you Vagabond! I had a chance to ‘test’ your recommendation and it it did not disappoint!

Great Video - I was there August for a month and loved it. Now I have a great video to share with my family and friends who ask me about my stay! The country is very well run. Was never looked at twice for being a gringo, nor was I charged Gringo prices anywhere, including taxis, bars. No beggars, or hookers, or people trying to sell me illegal substances. Tree House is a great find, they rent nice Cabins for $80 per person, I think food is included. There beer is cheap and tastes good.

Planning to keep my home as my kids are living there as they work on their college degrees. I can sell it when they leave the nest or keep it? Another $300k. Debt free for the last 13 years.
No pension, no health insurance at the moment.

Yes. Just take a bus to the border and walk through immigration. Then catch a bus on the other side. It is how to slow travel the world cheaply. Only take flights when necessary. Plus you see so much more of a country by not flying over it.

Great video! I was there 20 years ago. You are right when you mentioned it looks a little like Mexico. When you mentioned it in the beginning of the video, that beachfront area looks just like Puerto Vallarta. And the shot where the local church with the park benches totally reminded me of Cancun. Not the tourist hotel district part of Cancun, but the local part where the locals live

Dan how safe is Nicaragua now. In my mind all I can think about is the 80’s with the Sandinistas and Contras.
American’s backed the Contras and you being American do you get any awkward looks in Nicaragua.✌️

Nicaragua felt safe to me. But I measure safety by neighborhood rather than country. Here are my thoughts on that: vagabondbuddha.com/how-to-travel-the-world-safely/

@@VagabondAwake Russia was backing the Sandinistas and we were secretly backing the Contras. Russia wanted to build a airbase in the jungle, and those plans got spoiled. There’s a Russian Mi-24 Hind Helicopter shot down in one of the jungles in Nicaragua. 🇺🇸✌️

My husband is gringo he doesn’t speak Spanish, but he loves Nicaragua we go twice a year. Nicaragua is a safe place as long as you don’t say anything or have any opinion against the government.

@@anagonzalez8300 I can imagine that wouldn’t be good.
Back in the 80’s I saw warehouses full of supplies being sent down to the CMA (Military Assistance). A lot of bloodshed that people in the United States has no clue it happened. There’s a Russian Mi-24 helicopter shot down in the jungle. I saw polaroid pictures of it.

Hey Jase Andersen, thanks for the great question. Of course, but check to see if they need a tourist Visa before buying the flight. Thanks for commenting. RUclips shows our videos to more people when they get more comments. So your comment is like you are giving us a pay raise. So, thank you! Dan

That was funny, you weren’t wearing a mask, but your wife was. I wonder if she realize that she would just simply get expose to anyone there on that bus via you. It would’ve only made sense if both are masked. Just sayin 😊

In Nicaragua they don’t force you yo wear the mask or to be vaccinated. You do you if you wish to wear it cool but if you don’t wear is also ok.
