All of them. Edit: Warm Audio made elite level gear reachable to us lesser mortals, it's a great time to be a music nut! Don't know how many years I dreamed of having U47, U87 Telefunken etc. and yeah these aren't perfect recreations of them but they are in their own way super great! If you can't get good sound with these mics you are doing something wrong! Most people will forgive a great performance with average mics over and average performance with great mics.
I am a thermionic emission kinda guy (single ended triode mono block amps, and all tube preamp in my stereo), but I have to say the tube mics all sounded less transparent to me than the FET (WA47jr). I picked up a pair for $200 each on sale and I can't believe this microphone. Compares to $2K mics I have. Amazing.
Nice demonstration! True and accurate - I used to run a studio (not nearly as nice as this!) out of a building in my back yard, we affectionately referred to it as "The Shred Shed" haha
really any of them sound good, EQ would shape them comparably. I do favor the 251 and 47, but the 47jr and 87 all are in the same league of tonal quality.
One of each please! But since we are voting… in order the 251 is my favorite. Very smooth. But maybe not as practical as the U47. U47 little more open with better detail. U47jr sounds amazing for the price. U87 is just whatevs. Not for me. Would love to know what Taylor model you are playing on. Sounds fantastic.
The cheaper of the 4 are surprisingly good, and with some proper EQ would shine. WA87 too clonky/boomy, WA-47 too smooth that it takes away from those natural high ends I was hoping to hear=(. I bet it shines on vocals with little or no eq tho! WA47 Jr might require some more eqing but a more natural sound than the WA-87. Biased on my hears, they pick the WA251. GOOD job on recording my man! 1.)WA251(winner) 2.)WA47(second) 3.)WA47 Jr 4.)WA87
@@nicholasedgett7889 Was thinking of buying it too, but then came across the Ehrlund M line microphones and they are unbelievable. A bit more but the M1 can be used live too, so planning on getting a pair. There is also a Tube studio version in the works that I know someone that tried a beta version out that is absolutely fantastic. Can't wait for it to be available. An example of current mics at: ruclips.net/video/uciybQFeV9I/видео.html
As one of those finicky "golden ears," I prefer the 251 due to the presence peak. It sounds much more like an instrument mic on guitar. A vocal shootout with male and female vocals would be the clincher though. I have to say though that everything Warm Audio makes is gold. You can't go wrong with a whole studio full of their gear.
@@ireneirene5476 just from personal experience, either the 251 or the 87. I have this one gal who has an amazing, very powerful voice in and out of the studio constantly and i use a Telefunken ELAM 251 on her vocals. I decided to get one of these Warm audio recreations of it and tbh, the warm audio sounded better on her vocals. The warm audio 251 sounds alot different than the original, but in some ways its better. Like the fact it sounds almost identical to a vintage AKG C12 on probably 80% of the sources ive tried it on Which is absolutely INSANE for the money. Whether youre female or male or play acoustic or whatever, id recommend just going with the 251 because i promise its the best bang for your buck!
Guys. You have to remember the format of the media you’re on. When you stream on RUclips there is no way we can hear the quality of these mics. We can however hear differences in tone if you switch between mics rapidly. When you ride and open G chord for a minute at a time on a single mic the video is useless because we can’t hear any shuttle differences that we can pic up when you switch quickly. Not that the mad guitar skills aren’t impressive but maybe do what everyone else on RUclips is doing and switch quickly so your video actually helps us. Thanks.

I personally liked the WA47-jr
WA47 for sure

251 is a killer Mic on everything! Own one and use it everyday in the studio! 10 out of 10 👍👍👍👍👍

WA87 sounded the best on acoustic. Nice warm tone.

This poor guy is freezing, turn on the heat!! :)

The more expensive Mics does not sound much better than the 47 JR.
Nice video! In the future, could you cross fade between the different mics during the performance?

The WA47 Jr has too much mid range color but it still sounds really good. I bet they would be killer as overheads on a drum kit.
I use 3 in total on drums. 2 overheads and one on kick drum. Sounds very present.
I like the WA47jr
I was surprised to pick this one too, had the right amount of presence. Though, I liked the tone of the wa87 as well.
ouch... mics right in front of the sound hole for that super boomy mushy sound. They can't really be that bad, right?
251 for me then 47jr or 87
Qué lástima que no hayáis incluido la demostración del W a 67, lo cierto es que de todos esos micrófonos se notan muy poca diferencia

251 sounds way better to me, the 47 is pretty dull, missing lot of definition. 87 is ok.
Literally just bought the 251 an hour ago

I agree
Can we get the same test but on drums? As kick mic, overheads, room mics, and ‘trash mic’ (above bass drum facing snare).

47jr or 87... taster’s choice.
kind of disappointed in the other two tbh
which one do you think is best for female vocals ?

251 here
Nice. Can you do vocals on the WA251?
Maybe, I have a session coming up in a few weeks I may try it on.

Not as much difference as I thought.
sorry but I don't think I can stick anymore of that
Smh this should have been a vocal comparison
