okay, so I put on my studio quality headphones, and listened very closely to those vocal samples both wet and dry.... thats how you can REALLY hear the difference, and I REALLY did... what I found out is the one that really stood out is the WA-14... it stood out with its sound and price point.... it was nice and open, cuts thru the mix, it sounds like a microphone that costs more than what it actually does, another one is the WA-251 (oh my God) the warmth, the character you get outta that one this one is soooo awesome... make sure your room is well treated for this mic (listen when he doesnt sing, you can hear alot of background noise), the WA-47 surprised me, because I originally thought that microphone wasnt for my style of vocal and music background, but now I reconsider, damn good sound out of that one.... lastly, the WA-8000 is what it says it is... as soon as the clip both wet and dry kicked in, you can hear that open, clear, but warm vocal cut thru like butter... the ones I didnt mention doesnt mean I didnt like them, they ALL sound awesome, but those ones I mentioned stood out for me, and I might be making a purchase for that WA-14 and see how it works for my rap/hip-hop/R&B type vocals, I need one mic to work all around and build from, this one might be it..
In my opinion, a big issue with these comparisons is the changing distance from the capsules. You get different characters because of proximity and room tone at various gain stages. I think you should stick with a fixed position marked with the pop filter to ensure getting objective sound samples of these products. Otherwise great content, thank you!
*High end* = WA-8000 (rap/dance/hip-hop) or CX12 - (Acoustic/Pop/Orchestra) *Middle ground* = WA-14 IMO *Budget* = WA-47jr By the way..the CX12 is perhaps the perfect mic for you. Well done 👍
Such a great video Edward congrats! I am starting a studio at my school and I'd like to get a good all purpose mic. I'm between the lct440, the wa47jr or should I save for the wa14 what would you do?
Love the content like usual! I said it before and Ill say it again. Microphone comparisons are my favorite from this channel🔥🔥 I got myself the wa 87 and did not regret at all! Loving it till this day. Tbh my fav has to be the Wa 8000 which has the most unique sound imo. Keep up the awesome content!🔥🔥
Is it a bright mic? Im thinking of buying it but wanna know how it sounds on the higher frequencies. My voice soudns really bad with a mic that exagarattes higher frequencies. Had c414xlii earlier hated it
For recording pop vocals the WA 8000 is a no-brainer. It had far more top end sparkle that was still smooth that lends itself to that genre for live use and a more natural true to life tone for me WA 47F was the clear winner with its note weight in the low register, creamy mids and perfectly attenuated, smooth high-end. to me the 47F put your voice in the center of the music.
GREAT VIDEO!!! I have the WA8000 and its really nice although it can be a little harsh on the top end. I have the wa251 but haven't tried it out yet. Its funny that you released this video right as I'm planning to do a Warm Audio Mics vs the Townsend Labs Mic shoot out on my channel.
Thanks for the shooutout. Great to hear them against each other. I do have one big request: Could we please have the wav files to do our own A/B testing in a DAW? That would be so helpful!
grreat video!! thx I use the 251 and the 67 and the 47. I put vintage nos telefunken fuses in them.. love them.. the 8000 and the cx12 are gonna be next..

Great video! I really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing your insights and providing those raw takes to help us assess the sound quality of each microphone. Just keep in mind that the panning of the raw takes is slightly to the right, but everything else in the video is balanced and centered.
Hmm, I was wanting to hear an elaboration of the quality short cuts that some have rumored about on WA mics. I find the color combinations a bit wrong with the boring matte Aluminum look that most have, with then also chrome on the same mic which I dont think is attractive, and i might find distracting, but tend to lean to the sound of the 47 and 67 models
Thx for the great vid. Cant believe only 600 likes for such astounding content. WA47, WA67, the CX12 were so natural sounding. The rest all sounded great but did add highs or lows as designed of course. Thx again.
I was thinking about getting the wa-8000. And now, I don’t think I will. Hmmmm. The 14 is better imo. For that crisp high. And then the 251 for warmth. Thinking of getting the tonebeast(emphasis on thinking about it) or the mpx and the 73 EQ. Can add the warmth there instead of chalking out so much for the mic. Still gonna sit in my decision cause it seems that with AI, and all these companies giving away so many high end plugins, or either for super cheap, I think emulation might finally be on par coming up with whatever they have up their sleeve. So might just get a couple mics, upgrade my interface(RME I’m thinking, maybe Apollo) and just wait and see. Still kinda want that VCA style bus channel strip tho. I get wildly good deals on WA so that’s why I’m kinda stuck in their products. And they seem alright, if you don’t A&B them with what they are cloning. But that’s no problem. I’m not an established and wealthy engineer by any means. Good video tho. Straight to the point.
Sonically 251, cx12, 67 is best. Emotion and captures that make u feel a type of way would be 47 and 8000. Microphone is more than highs mid and lows. Alot of people talk about body and brightness but u see no people talking bout low end sentiment and high end openess.
I'm undecided between SE gemini II and Warm audio wa 8000. I can't find any comparison between these two microphones. Does anyone have an opinion about the two?
This is a hard one. I really like the sound of the WA8000... but long term, the Lewitt will last you longer because it's very well built... If I had to choose, I'm taking the WA8000
wow, in this video, perfect "wooden boxes" are presented (in reality, they have a plastic layer that only looks like wood). The boxes for the WA-47 that I bought were full of dents and damage, so I sent the first delivery back to the dealer. When the second one was just as bad, I gave up complaining and accepted that Warm Audio obviously cannot deliver better quality. Now, however, I am astonished that in this video there is no visible damage to the "wooden boxes". What a wonderful world full of surprises!!! But I am of the opinion that Warm Audio should present the products in advertising videos the way they actually deliver them in reality!!
Is the Neat King Bee II any good? I would love to hear what you think about it. I keep hearing about it. They say it sounds great but is too big and heavy. But for the price I ordered it.

Hi .... I wanted to ask you what your real thoughts are regarding the low range (20hz-300hz) of the WA-8000 Warm Audio microphone. Let me explain: I seem to understand that it's certainly not as full as the Sony on the low frequencies but those that the Warm Audio is able to steal are still sufficient? Do you think that you can get enough information to correct any lack of low frequencies where necessary? Are the high frequencies always nice or are they sometimes a little too sharp (harsh)? If you had to choose between the WA-8000 and the WA-251 (I really like this too), which one would you buy? One last question if you allow: Is this microphone (WA-8000) only suitable for recording male or female voices in the field of Rap Music, Hip Hop Music and similar styles or is it also valid for other musical genres? Thanks for any useful information about it and congratulations for the video !! PS: Sorry for all the questions I asked you but I'm very undecided about buying one of the two models I mentioned.

I agree the wet WA8000 it was a lil too bright
Yeah a different wet chain could have been used to better compliment the mic
I like his voice with WA-251
Wet signal has pitch correction which destroys the natural timbre of good mics.

It would've been nice if each mic preview was recorded with the mic that is being talked about in this particular preview.

The 251 is a touch warmer in sound... where the c12 is a little more crispy and clearer. The c12 has a great overall balance frequency wise.
