This is such a banger mic, for voices that have a fundamental of like 80-90hz, and a bit of that grit to the top end, shit’s endgame. $800 is such a steal
@lupit1 That's what I was thinking as well. I've a ShureSM7B and obviously I'm happy with the Shure because it's a great mic. Usually when I watch these mic reviews I'm like these mics aren't as good as the ShureSM7B. However this mic is better than ShureSM7B. If I had $950 I would buy this mic right now.
17:41 This needs to be shouted out a million times. If you're gonna buy gear, buy it because THAT specific thing will work for what you do. Don't buy anything because it's the "industry standard", or because it's the next whatever or it might be exactly like the other thing but cheaper. Gear choices should be very personal, it should get out of the way of you creating, and be cost-effective. I just got one of those Antelope Edge mics and I love it for what IT is. I didn't care if the models sounded EXACTLY like their real counterparts (although many of them are incredibly convincing), they simply sound great as they're own thing and it relieves me of the headache of back-and-forth trips to the guitar store.
hey bandrew, i've owned this mic before. the grill-head fell off, bad soldering job. i also had a problem with the wiring on the motherboard, the soldering was also bad there. other than that this mic made me want a real u-47... so i used that warranty. i do singing and harsh-metal vocals (screaming) and this mic was great for it because its not fatiguing at all. i believe chester bennington used the u-47 in studio (linkin park). in the end (no pun intended), i sold the mic with 2 new grill heads. one head was non-chrome but had the original triangle placement of the screws so only 1 screw in the back fit. still held together while the other head that i attached to the wa-47 was the real u-47 style with the cardiod polar pattern in the front and full-chrome. great review. sounds really good on your voice. dreamy affect. i will say, this mic has u-47 characteristics when mixing and mastering. it has that same dream-like tone affect.
Awesome video! Have you ever considered reviewing the MA-300? I own one and it's amazing. I've seen your MA-200 video, but the MA-300 actually has a slightly different sound - curious to hear your thoughts on it
I have this mic and I love it for soft vocals and acoustic guitars. I have gotten a good sound on it for a pop mix once, but I prefer other mics for dense mixes. But maybe your voice might hit it totally different. I've heard it sound great on those when other people use it.
Lots of producers I follow seem to be using these now. Problems with their vintage originals have meant these recreations have become more desirable. You also have to remember that Warm Audio use different transformers than the originals so there will be some slightly variation there too. Warren Huart seemed to suggest in his review this is as close to an original as it'll get given how its had to be made. I also seem to remember there is a Dutch studio engineer who compared these to a well serviced original. He did the same with the WA67 too.
You know what would be a cool video is how the different polar patterns on a microphone actually work. Like how does a mic go from cardioid to figure eight to omni with just a switch. I’m sure I can find this information if I looked elsewhere online or on RUclips, but I don’t wanna cheat on you like that.
I own the Jr and have used the WA47 in the studio on vox in cardioid. Both are good performers. Interesting tossing in the variety of Neumanns - thx. The WA47 sure sounds full and warm (hence Warm Audio - go figure) and I like it. The top end - if it were to be anymore pronounced, I would have a problem with it on vox. I agree - on spoken word there are better options. I wonder if aliens enjoy drinking beer?
Do you think you can review the Rode X XDM 100 USB mic? Btw guys, even with how high quality this mic is, it'll probably be never necessary for the average consumer, anything over 250 ish is way too much money to be spending on a condenser mic. The Lewitt 440, Nt1, and the Sennheiser is probably what you want to look for in that 150 to 250 price range, high quality mics without you spending an arm and leg to get it lol
I saw the thumbnail and thought "Whoa! Bandrew got his hands on a TF U47!"
Lmao😂
SAVOX LOVE YOUR VIDEOS 🫶🏾
@podcastage. Your musical "tests" have come a long long way. Your guitar playing both electric and acoustic has gotten really good.
Now I'm just waiting for a review of the warm audio wa-8000 and I'll be happy 😊

Sounds GLORIOUS on your acoustic. And I'm continuing to love your playing and composition my friend :)

It sounds amazing, extremely similar to the Telefunken TF47.
love Warm Audio stuff

The MA-300 is way better than the Warm 47.
It gives that classic studio sound. Defiantly similar to the original U47 mic.

It does Sound better to my ears than the tlm49 or the TF47 😮 way smoother and warmer
Love it! Now you’ve got to get the ultimate U47 replica - the Flea!! Seemingly a lot of folks top choice mic for male vocals…
Heeey!!! New video! Thanks 😊🙂

He doesn't really talk about the insides of the equipment that much, I don't think he specializes in it
Its something to do with the transformer I think tho
Thanks for the vid!!
