I can assure you it was filmed in Toronto; Ron Harris took his idea there because it was cheaper and at the time, he was a fashion photographer looking for more models, but my older brother worked at two of the hotels in the area at the time, the Omni (and another I can't remember the name of) but he worked at two hotels where SOME--not all, the girls stayed in and most of the camera crew. From what my brother told me, Arlaine and Sue were two from Canada.
How can this girl talk while doing all this exercise? Where do these superwomen live? And how does a program like this not continue on forever? I used to watch it every day after school when I was 16, 17, 18, and 19 years old, in the late 80's. I used to run my but off every day so I would not miss it.
I remember doing this workout each morning while my babies were little, it worked too. Mind you I was only in my early 20's and only slightly heavier than these girls. I even made myself the costume - pink stretch cotton leotard with a high cut leg. This is before the days of g-strings although they were just on the horizon...(and something I have never found comfortable, particularly when exercising)

Ron Harris rented a house nearby and it was rumored that he had wild parties with some of the 20mw girls, but never confirmed....from what my brother said of him, Ron was very polite and professional and wasn't messing around with the girls, but Ron didn't like that some of the girls were partying it up and picking up the guys because he was already getting a hard time selling the show as serious and not soft-porn, so he wanted the girls to be portraying a nice image around town
No locations, because of the complex lighting required to make it appear to be a seamless background with no horizon as well as the special electronic adjustment of the cameras to complete the effect, it was shot in the small studio at the Magder Studio complex in Scarborough, Canada. I've been in the biz for 30 years and this gig is one of the highlights for me, we all got 20 Minute Workout satin tour jackets and it got me more than a few free beers while it was the hot show on the tube :-)
the show Aerobicise started the :20 minute workout show...as far as accents go, I can't tell you who was from where, but most of the girls did promotional tours for this show and they visited malls and military bases. I know Annie, Bess, Arlaine, and maybe Nicole did promo tours in malls and my brother has pics of him with some of the girls. He said there were more girls that were cast for the show but weren't featured on it for some reason...
Gawd, this brings back some memories. I did two seasons as a cameraman for this show. It was so weird the first season as we never had control of the zoom, it was done by Ron the LA director from in the control room. Depending on how the girls were moving, their position on the turntable and which direction Ron had us zooming we had to find a shot to go to. Thankfully that changed in the 2nd season. Arlaine Wright who's leading this workout was my fav T.O. gal, wonder what she's up to now?
Just recently, I started doing the 20MW exercises again... maybe as a 2015 resolution for myself. It helps me sleep better at night. Thank *GOD* for Bess Motta, and 20 MINUTE WORKOUT FOR EVER!

My brother drove the shuttle now and then that took the girls to the studio every morning for taping and would sometimes pick them up, but he said Ron Harris eventually hired his own limo service to pick the girls up and bring them back so he knew they got to work on time..I'm sure someone somewhere has polaroids of Bess and Arlaine

If anyone saw the girls when theyfirst arrived at 6am from the hotel, they wouldn't have given them a second look for the most part but then a few hours of hair and make-up later and voila - HOT HOT HOT!
