This man was a nightmare for Novak Djokovic! Andy Roddick, arguably the greatest, and biggest server in tennis history. One of the very few players who have a winning head to head against Novak.
He even beat the Serbian 4 times in a row leaving him completely helpless.

I think the greatest difference is the mentality. Same with Jannik Sinner being down 6:0 against Medvedev, and now having won the past 5 encounters. I don't think he became a literal sports god with superhuman skill over night. These players already have their weapons. They might hone them and constantly tweak their technique, but committing to a game plan under pressure and knowing when to take risks and when not makes much more difference in my honest opinion.
The right mentality bestows clarity of mind upon those elect few greats, which enables the central executive to calmly problem solve and make a majority of point winning choices as well as execute them. That is what you call the zone I think and the greatest players can consistently acheive it.
