On February 6th 2021, Steven Saine RF Productions and I ventured up to the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad to chase the Winter Nantahala Gorge Excursion. GP30 2467 and GP9 1751 led the excursion into the Gorge with a little twist. Going into the Gorge the locomotives lead the train Long Hood Forward. At the Nantahala Siding, the locomotives performed the runaround (which they haven’t done in a long time) then ran forward back to Bryson City. We chased it both directions and it was nice to see them running a bit differently. Enjoy unusual operation at the GSMR!

That catamount car looks great. Go Cats!
26:53 looks like that person went VIP! A cab ride!
Yeah, must’ve been an awesome experience
Sweet video! I love GSMR's roster
Thanks! I do as well
That’s a lot of cars for the GSMR, I love it!!!
Thanks! That’s actually about average for them!
Over the summer they were running Gorge trains with upwards of 20 cars (since there were no Tuckasegee trains)... super impressive!
@@cartertimberlake1559 yes it was! I’ve heard that in the fall they ran 25 cars! They’ve had some long trains recently
Awesome video!
Thanks!
What is the status on 1702?
It’s sitting in the shops until further notice. They weren’t planning on running it in the winter months anyway
I'm surprised they are running that many cars on the winter trains.
There was more of a crowd then I expected. Seems there is decent demand for winter trains
Awesome video, man! Quick question, what video editor do you use? (If you don't mind sharing).
Thank you! I use IMovie.
Cool!
Thank you!
