Thank you for all your KC tutorials! I just downloaded the paid version a couple of days ago, and I'd be lost without your videos. (I also love your stitch, cast-on, and bind-off tutorials!) You are such a gift to the internet!!
I have an iPad, very old, but my daughter has a newer Samsung Tablet. I’ll have to try my knit companion with her tablet. I love your knit companion demonstration. I need a full video class on all of the free features. I’m sure I’m missing things. Many thanks Stacy. I had a tiny 7 lb Italian Greyhound for 18 years. I love greyhounds, whippets and Italian Greyhounds. Thanks for sharing your baby with us.
Thank you, Staci, for these tutorials. You're right; KnitCompanion truly is a game changer - saving on paper and printer toner! Can you give a tutorial for androids on setting up Row Repeats, please?
As an Adroid user, I had given up on the app years ago because it was missing so many key features. I just re-subscribed based on your video and I'm loving it!!
Thank you. I know I don't use half of the bells and whistles I should. I would love to see a video on how to hide unused sizes. I'm a very visual learner and the written instructions are just not doing it for me. 🙃
The only thing we're missing on Android is voice control and large format counters :) Since we have the setup options I enjoy making my own setup for every pattern I knit, not only using it for the sliding row and markers like before
Oh wow and double wow ! Knit Companion is fantastic. Takes a bit of getting used to but you’ve helped a lot Staci. Just knitting a top down cardigan and using THREE counters at the same time ! I like using charts too, Knit Companion makes it so much easier. The last stole I knitted I made a cardboard guide to slide down over pattern ! No more thanks to Knit Companion. For me the monthly subscription is well worth paying. Thank you Staci.
Thanks Staci, Knit Companion is incredible but needs to be taught and learnt. I now download all my new patterns to Knit Companion my printer is in a sulk ! The paper saving is excellent too. I’d say to others it takes time to get used to using it and will prove to be a great asset to serious knitters. I’ve just bought my first iPad to use with Knit Companion, brilliant ❤
That chart editing is amazing! I've always used the Android version (paid) and don't usually use charts, but this feature may change my mind! Thank you!
Very exciting news! Can't wait to use this and there's a free version is the cherry on top! Thank you for sharing this. Your tutorials make it look easy and I feel confident I can do this. Have a blessed weekend friends.
Wow! Staci thank you I’m going to try some of these tips for my next project. I’ve subscribed with the extra features for awhile and have only used basics. Thank you
I'm an Android use and this couldn't come at a better time! I'm starting a very complex lace project next week. So, I have time to get familiar with the new 'toys' before I start!! Thanks so much for the demonstration. It really. helps with the learning curve :D
I have a problem with the cropping process. The red lines don't align with the chart grid, they are too wide. What am I doing wrong? It doesn't allow the magic marker to capture the symbols. 2:23
You missed setting up counters for continuous stitches. I hate to count the stitches on my device as I am very challenged with vision issues. I also use this app for crochet and cross stitch.
I just wish it showed the *column* numbers on the new chart! And it does have some problems accurately finding the same cable stitches. It finds more than it should.
I'm just coming back to KC after about 2 yrs. How do I get a PDF pattern from my laptop into KC? I used to add ot to Dropbox on my computer and then retrieve it from there on KC. It's from Knit Picks, if that matters. I'd also like to know how to find what version of KC I have.
I'm probably wording it incorrectly and so I can't find how to do it but; Could you do a video where one knits a tube closed, using the knitting needles. My example is I want to knit an ear warmer, and when I finish the fabric, I'd like to close it, while still on the needles, rather then bind off, then sew into a closed tube.
Yes - you can get a photo from a book or magazine into kC. I demonstrate that in Apple in this video: ruclips.net/video/RTM2zDn94eI/видео.html I have another short video on this technique for both Apple and Android coming soon.
Thank your for the update. You've convinced me to pay for the subscription. It's nice to know what you're getting before you take the plunge. Do you know if the KC apps sync projects etc, if used between two different devices ie iphone and android tablet? Has anyone tried this?
These were very helpful tips - several things I didn't know I could do! One issue I ran into when trying it was I did a chart with the magic keys (amazing) but once I set it up, the yellow highlight bar won't move when I'm on that page. Is there a trick to unlock it, or is this a bug?
I think what you're seeing is the one-tap counter in action. You advance the highlight bar by advancing the one-tap counter, as I demonstrate in this video.
Soooo... How exactly do you get the updated version ? I re-installed on my Android phone and all it did was mess up (ie deleted most) of my projects. Not what they promised. 😤
Not sure why you deleted the app? But as long as you backed up, your projects are safe! All app updates are done from the App Store, no need to delete in order to update.
I've been using the same tablet with knit companion, the stylus is fine if you have practice with it. Also cool updates but I don't chart with knitting but would probably work just as well with colour work crochet 🙏🏾🙌🏾
Does it work on phones? I downloaded the app, but the seller is no longer on Etsy where I bought patterns from. This is gonna be a challenge for me lol.
I was upset when Knit Companion sent me an alert that I couldn't advance to the upgraded version until my basic essentials has expired. What is this nonsense? I will willingly cancel my basics so I can get the pay app. ,but I can't. My basic won't advance until March of 2024! Have you heard about this? I've tried everything. Any thoughts?
Sorry, I don't know anything about membership information. But in the video description field, I give a list of resources for contacting kC and getting help.
I originally bought it from Amazon, should continue with Amazon subscription?? I seem to remember that didn't have the extras added into the subscription. It time to renew, help!!
I think I may give this a try. Always welcome ideas to eliminate paper. Can you reference the shawl I see at the beginning of this video please. I have searched Ravelry under Very Pink but wasn't able to find it. Thank you.
You'll always find information and links to everything you see in my videos in the video description field. That wrap is called River City Wrap, more info here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/river-city-wrap

Great news! I use the free version but I think it's well worth subscribing now that Apple & Android are the same. Thanks for sharing!

😲 The chart customization is so cool!

Grabbed your free pattern, thanks. Amazing app!
I've been doing the highlight manually - I had no idea you could use a stylus to do the highlighting! Thanks for all these tips!
The only thing we're missing on Android is voice control and large format counters :)
Since we have the setup options I enjoy making my own setup for every pattern I knit, not only using it for the sliding row and markers like before
I finally know how to get my pattern into projects and I'm going to spring for the paid version. Other than that, all I have to say is THANK YOU!

Oooh! this will be perfect for mosaic crochet charts!

You are always so great at explaining Knit Companion, thank you.
so happy to see the highlight feature be a part of free version. That was the #1 thing I need!
What a great video! I recently purchased the app and can’t wait to use these features. Thank you!

This is so cool! Ihave been (im)patiently waiting for these features to be available in android!
Thank you so much for this great overview of KnitCompanion ❤
I have only used the free KC app...because I'm Android based. This video has me wanting the paid version! Thank you!!

Can you add grid lines to keep track of the number of stretches per row ie every 10 stitches? So useful for catching mistakes before you go too far
I have a problem with the cropping process. The red lines don't align with the chart grid, they are too wide. What am I doing wrong? It doesn't allow the magic marker to capture the symbols.

Wow! First time seeing this. Very impressive. Thanks for sharing.
I just wish it showed the *column* numbers on the new chart! And it does have some problems accurately finding the same cable stitches. It finds more than it should.
Thank you for sharing! I have downloaded knit companion!
Hi, what is your favorite natural blend of yarn to use?
Kind regards,
Kim
Omg wow I'll have to check it out. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all
Thank you for this tutorial!
This is very exciting! I can't wait to use this!
I am left handed. Do suggest flipping the charts. Does k it companion do this
Love it! Thankyou for the lesson.
Is there one for crochet as well?
Thank you so much excellent tutorial
Can it handle a chart that isn't rectangular? Like a chart where stitches are increased? I couldn't find a way to get it to do that.
I have this app a few years now, but did not use it from march this year and i just open it and all my patterns are gone 😢
What can i do?
Thank you so much for this demo. Love it
Is the voice control now also available?
I’ve been trying to download this on my Samsung Galaxy tablet and it won’t let me
❤❤❤❤ congrats and thank you!!!

is there a way to print a pattern off of knit companion ?
I didn't know about this app, but I'm going to download it. Thanks!

I believe this tutorial explains what you're asking - ruclips.net/video/mEdqTkQKEdo/видео.html
Way cool app, dowloaded and started playing with it already 🙂
Yes, at last scribble!!! I've been using the paid version for years, hoping they'd get to developing this for android.
Does your pattern need to be in Ravelry? What if I have a pattern that's in a book? Can it be copied and put into KnitCompanion?
Yes - you can get a photo from a book or magazine into kC. I demonstrate that in Apple in this video: ruclips.net/video/RTM2zDn94eI/видео.html I have another short video on this technique for both Apple and Android coming soon.
I'd say that's pretty cool stuff! 💖🙌😺
I recently got knit companion but when I click on scribble it days i have to subscribe
It didn’t tell you how many of each stitch. Does it not do that in android?? Thx
It does do that on Android now, and I believe I have a short video coming up demonstrating that soon.
Thank your for the update. You've convinced me to pay for the subscription. It's nice to know what you're getting before you take the plunge. Do you know if the KC apps sync projects etc, if used between two different devices ie iphone and android tablet? Has anyone tried this?
It sure does! You can use any cloud, email, or computer to do this.
@@slyknits subscribed today 🥳 I hope you get a commission 🤣
This looks wonderful! Question: not all patterns are in Ravelry. Does knit companion allow us the import from our own files?
Sure can! In fact that is this week’s tip on Instagram. Your patterns can come from anywhere!
These were very helpful tips - several things I didn't know I could do! One issue I ran into when trying it was I did a chart with the magic keys (amazing) but once I set it up, the yellow highlight bar won't move when I'm on that page. Is there a trick to unlock it, or is this a bug?

@@verypinkknits Got it - I missed that little tidbit, but can see it's working. Thanks so much!

How do you link revelry to knit companion. I just got it loaded onto my apple i pad.
Tap ravelry at the top!
I've been using the same tablet with knit companion, the stylus is fine if you have practice with it. Also cool updates but I don't chart with knitting but would probably work just as well with colour work crochet 🙏🏾🙌🏾
Do I still have to pay for a separate subscription per device? Is there still no cross-device syncing of pattern progress?
If you're not switching operating systems (between Apple and Android) one subscription per knitter should cover all your devices.
Thank you
Does it work on phones?
I downloaded the app, but the seller is no longer on Etsy where I bought patterns from. This is gonna be a challenge for me lol.
It works on phones too I have the free version on my android phone
If I have it, can I open on both my iPad and my android phone depending on when/ where I am and want to work?
Sure can!
When you buy the paid version, is it just a one time fee. Or yearly?
It's a yearly subscription.
I was upset when Knit Companion sent me an alert that I couldn't advance to the upgraded version until my basic essentials has expired. What is this nonsense? Grazie è molto interessante
Thank you for this update. I was wondering why when you cropped the chart you didn't include row numbers.
Your row number is there on the counter that I pointed out. No need for row numbers in the chart.
I think I may give this a try. Always welcome ideas to eliminate paper. Can you reference the shawl I see at the beginning of this video please. I have searched Ravelry under Very Pink but wasn't able to find it. Thank you.

What happened to her? Did she die?
Are you asking about me? I'm fine, just put out a new video today!
LOL I finally switched to iPhone.
