I use one on my boat a lot, cos i find them better fof cutting rope. The scenario im concerned about is stretching out to saw at something wrapped round the prop. My knife has a saw blade as well, come to think of it, being one of the larger victorinox ones.
I am watching it again on my pc and it still looks like a counterfeit the finish/coating on the blade looks way too glossy the numbers on the right side of the blade are to big. the font on the right side" MADE IN USA PORTLAND, OR" is not the same font. The height of the grind is a little too low and the serrations look to big and are also different. the color of the sheath and the handle should be the same and the color is off on both the nylon strap to keep the knife is the wrong color, wrong side (the button that goes on top of the the other is on the right side not the left) and is of a different weave the plastic the pattern of the handle looks off aswell around the black plastic where the sheath retains the knife. I could keep on going. Im sorry to say but I think you have a counterfeit
The Strongarm is 420HC and were an excellent knife for the price a few years ago. Their prices have gone up and a lot more competition now. Not such a good deal anymore
Yo im pretty sure this is a fake i almost got a fake from amazon because it was cheaper than in Gerber’s official website but i saw the reviews and they were saying it was fake make sure cause there are alot of fakes
The strongarm is a reliable tool knife which will have your back in many scenarios. This is a fake however... the handle has mold flash peeling away in the video & the blade has a glossy coating, not like the matte phosphate of the genuine article.
@@CadillacDriver I bought one off Amazon. I should have known it was a knockoff due to the low price. I was immediately suspicious, because it didn't arrive sharp, and this is Gerber. There are literally dozens of videos showing the differences between the real deal, and the knock-off. The boxes are different shapes, the blade geometry is slightly different. However, the dead giveaway is the snap placement. In this video, the male side of the retention strap snap, is on the opposite side of the genuine knife. Luckily I was able to return mine to Amazon. I reported the seller as well.
@@DDDYLN I'm not a fan of Gayber at all, hence my lack of motivation to do research to answer my own question. I certainly believe you, I was just curious as I have no idea what a genuine one looks like in-person.
@@CadillacDriver I'm not a fan of Gerber either. Everyone just talks up the Strongarm like it's the damn God of all knives. It's an overpriced piece of cheap 420HC stainless steel. Admittedly, it does have probably the best sheath of all knives. I wanted to check one out for myself. Instead, I got a knock-off for $46. BTW, the original price of the Strongarm was like $38. I have no idea why people pay $90 for that knife. Like I said, I wanted to see what the fuss was all about. Unfortunately, I guess I won't know, because I got a knock-off. From watching the comparison videos, it looks like the knock-offs have slightly less thick handles. I have XXL hands in width, but not length. When I held it, my hand was like 0.25" off the back of the handle, so that my fingers wouldn't slip onto the blade. Even though it was a knock-off, I decided it wasn't a good fit for me. I could compare it to the less expensive Cold Steel SRK, SRK-C, or Recon Tanto. All those knives are half the price or less, the blade stock is thicker, and they're better knives IMO. However, it's not really a fair comparison, because those knives are 1085 high carbon steel, and the Strongarm is mostly stainless. That said, I bought a Steel Will Argonaut 800 about a year ago (it's discontinued now, but there are still some for sale). The Steel Will Argonaut series is AUS-8 steel, the spines are thicker than the Strongarm, and they have hidden tangs that protrude out the rear of the handle, just like the Strongarm. After holding the knock-off in my hand, I decided to return it immediately. BTW, the Steel Will Argonaut 800 is the same price as a Strongarm, it arrives hair shaving sharp, it's made from a better high carbon stainless steel, and the blade lengths are roughly 7". The sheaths aren't as good, but I'll take that knife over the Strongarm any day.
I have one of this and I love the knife but the sheath sucks! My button sheath did not last! The button on my sheath did not last! Knife is good but sheath buttons suck!
"you can see the gwip" I love the accent 😭
“You can see the chainsaw..” 🤣
Hate serrated Edges.
Makes it easier for someone to also strike a ferro rod though
@@Niko-the-Black-Dragonthat's what the spine is for
@@FurNaxxYT that's what I meant. Like you have a smooth to serrated edge so the spine is free space for the rod

This looks like a counterfeit everything looks off from the coating the font and the size of the text, the serrations, the color.
It’s from amazon
The color might be off because of the filter
Give me 5 minutes and il get mine and confirm but im 95% sure its a counterfeit

The funny thing is - Asian dude reviews Asian fake copy. The long serial number and the stitching gave it away.
Gerber mystery steel.
The real gerber strongarm has 420hc
The steel on a real one is 420HC. Which is part of the reason why it's almost an indestructible knife. But yeah, Gerber loves pot metal
I hear its 420, but i also hear its not THE best, but ok.
420 stainless
@@Monsoonpainit's virtually indestructible what else do you want?
If it's made out of 420hc it's a solid pieces but i don't see any info on the blade Bad thing i don't like when a knife Come with no info on the blade

Nope! I'd get the Cold Steel SRK.
Serrated edges u usually used for cutting rope or anything else u don't want to dull the main part of the blade
I have one..i love the handle, blade ok, wish it was more premium steel...but its ok
Looks good but I HATE serrated edges. Only good for cutting rope.......
Serrated blades r usually made on one side for strength
Gerber has fallen so far from their glory days when they made real knives like the BMF and LMF! Wish I would’ve kept mine (BMF)!
Thats the counterfeit model sorry bud
Saw it too.
I also seen that.
Still a good quality, instead of paying 10 times for not that big quality difference
Yo im pretty sure this is a fake i almost got a fake from amazon because it was cheaper than in Gerber’s official website but i saw the reviews and they were saying it was fake make sure cause there are alot of fakes
If they made this in a better steel that would be the perfect fucking knife
Pretty sure it's purpose built to be easily maintained on the field, although some 1095 would be nice
They make it in bdz1...its somewhat better.
Sick knife love it
Surrogate edge? Or ragu edge?

Umm- I have one just like this, but without a brand or anything on it, is it still gerber? Or us it a fake knife pretender?
Prob fake
Guess the only redeamable thing is mine came razor sharp

Keep a sharpener handy
I have same one
Its not seregate edge lol smh its serrated.
Gerba
Meula , Spain
That blade doesn’t even look like my real strongarm. There shouldn’t be a shine to your blade like that.
Gerber uses sub par steel. Get a fallkniven or benchmade.
This is not a true Gerber strongarm, it’s a Chinese knock off.
Made in portland lol
How to review a blade with no content whatsoever ever
Im sorry but that knife it’s fake. Please look into the details like logos, serial number etc. thanks
Ни хрена себе это меня такой же но только по прямой и без серрейтор и потрёпанный
