Sept. 2023. I was 15 when Honey was released and thought it was sweet but something that I could never experience Today I was looking at my wife of 29 years, who dresses in mix and match thrift store clothing, and fills our house with plants, and harp music, and a tiny dog 🐕, and is very much the flower child from the 60's. And I pulled up this song, Honey, and slow danced and cried tears of joy that I am so blessed. Thank you Bobby G.

I am 70 yrs old and I never get tired of hearing this beautiful song. I miss my mom and dad so much that I can't wait to see them one day. Love you forever my two angels.
Tomorrow would have been 36 years for my wife and me, but I only got 6 years with her. She died at 37 from a brain tumor. I miss her every day but she did give me 3 beautiful kids. One is 44 and the twins, a boy and girl will be 36 this year. She was brilliant, beautiful and had a hippie personality about her that I fell in love with. This song brings me back to those wonderful years we had together.
My wife and I have been married for 53 years. Several years ago I almost lost her to a brain aneurysm that made a return a few years later. I can relate to how you feel. I don't know what I would do without her.
One of the loveliest songs ever written. This song is not only beautiful, but it takes us back to a time that many of us can remember fondly. At 57, I can honestly say that I grew in the best time in human history.
I’m 65 years old but hearing this song ,today, i shed a few tears. It still moves me as good as it did in 68 when i used to hear it played by the DJ at a local skate rink i went to for many years. Good job bobby! Good job!
Don't feel bad or indifferent, I am 74 and still cry on hearing this gem, and, I always wonder why they never play this in "oldies" stations? Perhaps some contractual clause, its weird!
I'm 62 and remember hearing this on the radio. I'm here because I just watched an interview with Keith Richards, Keith told a funny story about himself and Bobby Goldsboro that took place on a Tour Bus! I'd never imagined those two hanging out together.
My mom died two months before this song came out in 1968...when I heard it I thought he's singing about mom. Dad heard the song too and commented on it to me and also bought me the 45 record. My brother and I played the song 17 months later at dad's funeral. In 2007 driving my brothers ashes to Tombstone AZ, while traveling through Texas late one night, with my brothers ashes in the back set AND without searching for 'any' channel on the radio, oldies or otherwise, I turned on the radio and Bobby Goldsboro was singing Honey....it was truly a God Moment....and now that 45rpm record is number 174 on my jukebox.
IN 1967 MY WIFE WAS KILLED IN A CAR WRECK(I WAS NOT IN THE WRECK). Every time I hear this song IO think of her usually I will cry if I'm alone. This is the first time in a long time I haven't cried. In all the time I never did get remarried I just couldn't let Penny go. To this day I love that fine beautiful girl
Hold onto those memories, and never lose that love for her. One day you will see her again! I still shed a tear whenever I hear this song, which was played at my wife's memorial service in 2013. :-)
I also lost my Fiance in a car accident in 1971, I was also injured in that crash, car turned in front of me, so I know exactly how you feel, it never leaves you.
I lost my honey in 1998. She did plant a tree and it's big and strong in Baytown Texas. This song I love but it does make me cry. I guess it always will.
This is Dan Eidson, Frances’ husband. My wife and I were married over 50 years. She went home to be with Jesus this past January, 2022. I always called her Honey. In fact, many of our friends called her Honey. I love this song. I loved my Honey.
I always called my daughter honey. She left us quite unexpectedly, over night. Walking Pneumonia, at 25 years old. She left us a beautiful grandson, and I'm thankful for that. But she was my girl, and I loved her more than I can say.
I am so sorry for your lose . I hope your doing okay and I know in my heart that the memories you have of your honey will help you through your sorrow. Be good to yourself and hang in there .
@@kathryngleason9197 - Thank you for your kind words. It’s getting easier, but some days are hard. The Lord has been my strength and good friends have made a difference. Blessings to you and your family.
I am 52 years of age ,and every bloody time i hear this song i cry No one in this time and age can write a song so heart wrenching To all of you out there who have lost a loved one ,listen to this song and remember the good times Take care ,you will meet them again
Hello, I'm reading all the gorgeous comments below. I just turned 67 and at long last I can feel the emotions so many of you feel having lost your honey when I listen to this wonderful song. All the best, Peter Nolan. Ph.D.(physics). Dublin. Ireland.
Sorry for your loss....My parents(adoptive) married in 1945, celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1995. They remained married until March 4, 2001, when he was taken by blood poisoning following a quadruple bypass heart operation. He was 85.....Mom passed in 2018 at 99. They were together for 55 years.
I really like this song a lot.It reminds me my past memories that make me sad.I really admire bob balboro the singer so often times I played this song.
I just lost my Honey Friday Nov. 26th 2021, I am planting his tree this coming spring as it's in the house right now! We both loved this song and it had always meant so much to us! God Bless y'all ❣️🙏😪
I lost my "Honey" not in the spring, but in the fall, Oct. 07, 2018 after a long and hard cancer battle. My Honey and I were together for 46 years, and not a day goes by that I don't think of her and cry. I would be with her if I could. Kay, I loved you so so much.
@@debnewyork8221 I appreciate your reply, I am doing OK now. I still miss her terribly, think of her everyday, not crying as much. Thank you for caring.
heard this song in 1968 and having been married one year i could visualise me losing my one and only. any how just after our 45th wedding anniversary she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 4 months later she was gone. then i rembered that song from 1968 and i burst into tears and 5 years later i am typing this and can't see the keys because of the tears and this from an 80 year old grandfatherwho should know better but doesn't . this will always be a tear jerker for me jerry
I think you were a lucky man to have loved a woman so and she obviously loved hardly anyone has a love story like yours I wish you well you will see her again
38 yrs married and 64 yr old grandfather in tears trying to type. Heard the song when marriage wasn't an option but put me to tears thinking of losing someone anyway. I think of this song when I consider the thought of losing the Love of My Life. I'm trying to be good and you better to. She has been working on a place for you and her .... So don't show up to the Gate without a Pass. LOL ... Grace of God we both make it.
I love this song! My dad bought the first tree for our yard and laughed at me because I'd get so excited. I called when it started to bloom. I called when the turned into leaves. I called when the first bird landed on it. And he'd start singing Honey. I think of my dad every time I look outside. I miss him so much but I still have the tree...when we planted it was just a twig. 😥
My Wife of 43 years died from chronic kidney disease in 2013. I recall so many happy memories as I hear this classic song. I'm 79 years, old now and happily remarried to a remarkable, beautiful, woman of character. I sure my beloved 'Linda' was somehow able to send 'Nana' into my life to share my remaining time on Earth. ❤
I just lost the love of my life on September 20,2020. I always loved this song and have been playing it every single day since her death and when I do I always cry. I will never stop loving you Andrea. Sleep in the arms of Jesus until we meet again.
It is! Back in the day, Rolling Stone had this in their list of "worst songs for the year". Around the same timeframe, "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" was also in that list. Give it a listen. Says a lot about that worthless rag, doesnt it?
@@raywharton2296 Sorry for your loss. I know how it feels as I've lost both my parents & my sister in the last 10yrs, and i always think of them. I've just released this. ruclips.net/video/mUhwGPkZZ_g/видео.html I've been meaning to do this and forgot until your comment.
Lost my lovely Dawne on the27th of June last year after a long illness with chronic pain almost like the song found her gone in the middle of the night, together for 50 years just had our 47th wedding anniversary and a week into her66th birthday.zNext month will be one year and it seems like yesterday. I don’t think I will ever get over her, this was always our favourite song and we played it at her funeral, I still love her so much.
I am Mexican, I understand little English, but the music, the feeling that the singer transmits, makes you transport when listening to it, without a doubt I agree with all those who like it, it is a BEAUTIFUL melody, that it is not enough to listen to it just once , you can listen to it several times and still love it. God Bless you all.
I never believed I would ever be married. But, at age 41, I finally found the love of my life. But, just over a year after we were married, I came home to find she had passed away suddenly, just like the song. That was over 15 years ago and this song still gets to me. RIP Karen. 😥
I am so sorry for your loss, remember the good times you had together ,and when you do try to smile,i am sure your wife will look down from above and smile with you ,take care jeff, take care.
I'm 57 and I'll never forget this song as long as I live. I remember being 3 or 4 when I was listening to it with my sister and she started crying so I started crying. She says "why are you crying? And I looked up at her and said I'm crying cause your crying. I didn't understand the song then but I grew up and I knew what he was singing about. I still cry if I see my sister crying. She's 15 years older than me and I love her very dearly. Yes we lived In a great Era where life was simple and music was the best. How I miss those days ❤️
BEAUTIFUL and still brings tears to my eyes. I've been with my wifr sincr 1970 and she has battled cancer eight times. We have been so much, Our eldest son had a seizure disorder growing up, brain cancer his senior year of high school, and a paralizing stroke five years ago. Our younfest son had brain cancer at age 22 and died a year later. We have always worked to gether to make, with NO HELP from any one. My sister said I was a self made man because Nobody ever helped us. It has always been my wife (Sherry) and me against the world, but we made it. This song represents the love a couple SHOULD have for eacg other, like we do. Thank You for this wonderful video.
Must be a very difficult moment for you , but please let that unhappy moment slip away. Hope you are having good times with your love ones now. My mother is 95 now. Luckily she's fine and can manage everything herself and, she does the cooking everyday. But none is able to stop her from leaving her children someday when she has finished her task from being a wife, a mum, a gran and a great gran. By the way, I am a guy of 70 from Hong Kong.
The first time I heard this song I was eight years old and I cried. I still cry every time I hear this song. It is so beautiful and plays on my heart strings. I try to sing it while the tears are rolling down my cheek. Maybe one day I will be able to.
I never had the chance to grow up and really know my mother since she passed away when I four and my dad seldomly talks about her. I remember when I was 15 years old when my father share this song to me. A year after that he passed away. I guess through this song he is telling me about his feelings for my mother. Now im 27 yrs old and everytime I miss them, I listen to this song.
Tremendous song, reminds me of how blessed I am to have grown up in the 70's being exposed to all this great music. I remember my Mom and Dad playing 45's and albums of all this amazing music. As a Dad now of two sons, I am compelled to pass this onto my kids. Sadly, they are going through the most awful time period for music, culture, etc. God bless everyone.
God how I miss my Honey. Almost 10 years. Sitting here on a Saturday night/Early Sunday morning 12:30am. Playing this and crying like a three year old. God how I miss you Honey.
Your never alone always some one feeling the way you do You have to talk to someone the more you talk about the one you were in love with and still are i know your love will never die but would they want you to be miserable and sad and lonely till you die No No No please people dont say rest in peace They are sleeping with the angles get a big soft bed throw even if ifs a child's something that reminds you of him or her and like me i sleep like a butterfly my blanket wrapped around me I call it my snuggle bug We all bug each other but love to to be hugged even more now The beds too big without you Im 53 and still have my cuddle bug and my snuggle bug no mater how young or old we get when your alone and talking to your self Your not going mad your not grieving you need to scream out why but your cries cant be heard But im here

The saddest song I've ever heard I'm 57 now I remember my mom used to play this I used to listen and tried to understand what happen to Honey sadness fo' sure Thanks mom
From the first time I heard this song, sung by Bobby Goldsboro, every time, including 30 seconds ago, I haven't been able to love it without crying my eyes out. It was a favourite of my dear departed mother, like 'Honey', also an avid gardener...... For all whom I've loved and who have either gone before, or left my life, I lament. Forgive me, I had need to share this thought, a penance perhaps, for still being here...alone, amongst millions.
Ah it just like yesterday this song was always played for last dance for couples at Dances in Dublin in 1968 fabulous song Everyone knew the words a great no 1song📀📀📀📀📀

My mother loved this song they played it at her funeral she passed Dec 1st 1967 she was 36 yrs old. My mom & i listened to this song all the time rest in peace mom...your son Joseph Robert
Loved it from the first listening. Many years have past, but I still play my 45 of it. Growing up in the 50's 60's & 70's I was in my 20's back then I knew the world was changed, because the music did. 76 now & still play my oldies. Thank you for my youth.
This is indeed the saddest song I’ve ever heard and never fails to make me cry. This song has a special place in my heart. My grandpa, who passed away in 2012, used to play this song in the car sometimes when I was young. He’d be driving me to school in the morning, and I remember wondering why he would listen to such a sad sad song and enjoy singing along to it. The sad story would get stuck in my head all day and I would listen to it on my own. Now I think of him when I hear this song. I miss you Poppy, and I’m being good.
awww much love n good energy to your broken heart ,,, I had almost same experience when i lost all 5 of my family in auto accident in one day ,unreal ,,,,I use o hear this song a lot when I was little too .
This is a Moms Day song if ever there was one...My Mom died at the young age of 50. That beast Cancer got Her. I wa only 27, and I remained numb for years. I felt I dealt with it.Not until I played this one on my Sunday morning internet show on KABL the tears flowed again. ..she never saw Me travel Europe or the USA, graduate from college, become successful in my Radio career, buy my home, re-marry, have a beautiful child and survive Cancer myself. This song is a beauty. I will always miss my Mom.
1.9 K people disliking this are walking around without a beating heart. A miracle. I’m 37 years old and listening to this song since a long while with tears in my eyes.
I lost my grandma over 6 years ago. When I was 3 years old, she played this song for me on an old phonograph at my grandparents' old farmhouse. I had such great memories on that farm and of my grandmother. Every time I play this song, it reminds me of her and happy memories and happier times as a very young child. I'm now 57 years old and I cry and wishing I could go back in time.
I lose my mom in October 19 1995 at fifty three of cancer is reminds me of the saddest days of my life my mom was always good with plants and animals that is how this song reminds me of my mom aloha
He was 37 and she was 35 years old. My Buddy had a love relationship you'd never seen before. Such love between the two, beyond belief. Just over a year after the beginning of their relationship she developed terminal cancer and was given less than a year to live. What devastation! That being said, their love grew even stronger. On the night she passed away she was in his arms and the background music was playing. As she spoke her last words, "I'll always love you," this song (HONEY) started playing. And tears just flowed down our eyes. We have never forgotten this song, which of course reminds of her passing. Bobby Goldsboro...such good music!
My sister died aged eight in 1967 Just before she died, she had gone missing, we found in church praying. The one thing she so wanted was to make her communion. The Catholic priest denied her this, because she could not memorize the text in the prayer book. I felt so sad for her and offered her my place with no avail. A week later she died. This song helped me through the grieving process at the young age of ten. I didn't t understand the lyrics then, but the magic and tranquillity of the voice were enough for me to gain some solitude. This was the beginning of my music therapy to that of religious therapy🎶🎵🎼
As we now all now know most of these Catholic Priests were all Paedophiles, denying your Sister communion was just plain EVIL, she was such a young girl, rules more important than compassion, I hope he did not come to her funeral, he was obviously the DEVIL. I am not religious and have never been, and I am glad that I was not, as the most evil people that have been exposed in the last 20 years were the Paedophile Catholic Priests and also the Nuns that murdered thousands of children born to unwed mothers. Religion is EVIL and the Ministers and Priests are just plain EVIL.
Caroline I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my brother when I was 8 in 76' and this song and many others helped me through my grief...I played this song repeatedly until my parents asked me to stop...I always like the idea that my brother went with the angels it kind of gave me some peace...I hope you are well and have a good day..💞
My wife is in the hospital. Not sure she will ever come home. This song came to mind and I had to hear it. Made an big impact on me when I was a teen, never really knew why until now. It’s been 50 years since I last heard it. God sure is great.
There are a handful of songs that are so utterly beautiful, that speak so directly to our hearts, that combine lyrics and harmonies so completely perfectly, that convey the passage of time, the pain and joys of life, and the sacrifices we make for love, that they will be with us for all time, decades into the future. This is one of those songs.
I was in 4th grade when it came out. And I too cry to this day every time I hear it. Mainly cause it reminds me of a weeping willow tree that was behind our house where I played. Weeping willows were my favorite. The summer between 4th n 5th grade we moved out of state due to dads need of work. Things went well. Dad retired eventually. We moved back into the country. He bought me a weeping willow. Dad has since passed away, the tree means everything to me. I miss dad horribly. But mainly the song just reminds me of playing under my (happy tree) as a child!
I use to listen to this song on my grand parents record player and sign with my grandmother. It was 'our song". It brings back such beautiful memories. Thank you.
This was my sister's favorite song. I cry whenever I hear it. I miss her terribly! ❤

They sure do.

Yes every time I hear "one day when I was gone & she was home all alone the angels came" I become teary eyed too
I've recently lost my darling wife Ann through cancer and this song means so much as Ann has left a beautiful garden that she planted.

Hello,
I'm reading all the gorgeous comments below. I just turned 67 and at long last I can feel the emotions so many of you feel having lost your honey when I listen to this wonderful song.
All the best,

I lost my love in 2016, to cancer. We were together for over 60 years. It still is a hell of a loss to me. The song brings lots of memories.
Very sorry for your loss

I just lost the love of my life on September 20,2020. I always loved this song and have been playing it every single day since her death and when I do I always cry. I will never stop loving you Andrea. Sleep in the arms of Jesus until we meet again.
This is one of the most beautiful songs you will ever hear. So full of passion, love and loss.
It is! Back in the day, Rolling Stone had this in their list of "worst songs for the year". Around the same timeframe, "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" was also in that list. Give it a listen. Says a lot about that worthless rag, doesnt it?
Reminds me of my late wife. Always makes me cry.

I don’t think I will ever get over her, this was always our favourite song and we played it at her funeral, I still love her so much.
Yes it is a beautiful song I feel for you but you will see her again and together you will hear this song .until then take care.
You never get "over" some one you love, you conquer each & every day & you heal in each moment & treasure the memories

Aw man, every time he sings, 'and now my life's an empty stage where Honey lived and Honey played.' It totally wrecks me.
on that stage now my fault alone
Forlorn Dream this song wrecks me period.
My sister died aged eight in 1967
Just before she died, she had gone missing, we found in church praying.
Wow. Shocking. He isn't God.
I lost my brother when I was 8 in 76' and this song and many others helped me through my grief...I played this song repeatedly until my parents asked me to stop...I always like the idea that my brother went with the angels it kind of gave me some peace...I hope you are well and have a good day..💞
if she believed in Jesus she is with him the bread of life. You will see her again. 🙏🌹
Damn that priest he'll answer when he meets St.Peter
My wife is in the hospital. Not sure she will ever come home. This song came to mind and I had to hear it. Made an big impact on me when I was a teen, never really knew why until now. It’s been 50 years since I last heard it. God sure is great.
I hope she is home , good luck.
Prayers for her
Trump Lost hahahahaha
Be strong until she comes home
There are a handful of songs that are so utterly beautiful, that speak so directly to our hearts, that combine lyrics and harmonies so completely perfectly, that convey the passage of time, the pain and joys of life, and the sacrifices we make for love, that they will be with us for all time, decades into the future. This is one of those songs.
You are so right... best you-tube comment ever!

Love The Song Honey Such a Pretty and Sad Song
Hello friend, how are you doing today?.
This song breaks my heart 20 years ago I lost my soul mate, love of my life and the pain is still there. I love you Laura Turner r.i.p sweetheart xxx
the pain isn't forever, Michael. :)
I lost my hubby 9-5-22 and this song makes me emotional, sweetheart I miss you
After all these years this song still makes me cry
I was in 4th grade when it came out. And I too cry to this day every time I hear it. Mainly cause it reminds me of a weeping willow tree that was behind our house where I played. Weeping willows were my favorite. The summer between 4th n 5th grade we moved out of state due to dads need of work. Things went well. Dad retired eventually. We moved back into the country. He bought me a weeping willow. Dad has since passed away, the tree means everything to me. I miss dad horribly. But mainly the song just reminds me of playing under my (happy tree) as a child!
donna nash oh I know that feeling
