Brutally honest and slightly sad interview. I wish the Clash had managed to get back together at some point. You can tell Joe realised his mistake very early on, but got stuck with his decision. Mick needs a large part of the blame too, he was on his own schedule and ego trip and seemed to have little interest in anything Joe or Paul did or wanted to do. The Clash were the first band I liked as a kid in 1991, when Should I stay or should I go and Rock the casbar got re-released after the Levis advert. I was really sad when I learned these were old songs from a band that had broken up years ago.
There’s a couple interviews where Topper also shows remorse for his actions leading to his eventual ejection too. Really one of the most tragic ends to a band where they all share a bit of blame with why the band ended but later felt guilt and reconciled separately. A shame they never got to reunite one last time before Joes untimely death, just a few months before their Hall of Fame induction
