Hey, I have an iPad Air 4 and it says it’s compatible everywhere but when I try to download it, it says it isn’t and won’t let me download. Is there a way around this by chance? I’m updated to the latest software and eveyhing like it says
Have seen the Speed Editor in this video for the first time, was thinking about switching from FCPX to Resolve. Now that I've seen that the Speed Editor includes a license for Resolve Studio, it's a no-brainer. Ordered one immediately after watching this video.
This is gonna be one of the first apps to truly grasp the iPads capabilities. This looks so convenient and intuitive and I can't wait to be more productive because of it! My only wish is that they add the edit tab someday, but cut should be sufficient enough for what I do.
Which brings the question of why is Apple being so stubborn in its refusal to bring Final Cut Pro to the iPad? What is the reason? It’s not that they can’t, it’s that they don’t want to. What is hindering them from taking a leap of faith and bringing this very powerful professional software to a very professional machine of their making? I also find it quite amusing that so called tech experts not realizing that these M chip and A chip iPads are in fact computers. Tablets are in fact defined as being computers. We call them tablets for short and drop the word computer which has led to so much confusion to such an extent that techies try to argue that iPads aren’t computers. Hilarious really.
@@coralreef909 Maybe is not about performance that ipad is not capable but to bring the whole touch experience to their pro apps. Apple is weird at this decision even small apps like calculator is not available for ipad for the same excuse and the weather app just drop recently
@@coralreef909 because an entry level M chip isn’t the best chip for editing. If you want to do anything more than an assembly edit or a talking head RUclips video you get an M1 Pro or more. And once you plug it in to external monitors… is an iPad you really want? The power can be used if you using art apps for drawing, animating or 3D sculpting. If that’s not what you do, why do you want an iPad Pro? And for that the M1 and all it’s 16gb of ram comes in handy (though I still run out of layers sometimes) The device just isn’t for you mate. What you need is a good laptop, and entry level iPad 9 is all you need, as the pros don’t make sense for your case. And that’s totally OK.
Could you see yourself editing on an iPad? Really interested in how many people could see themselves switching from Desktop to iPad. Let me know down below :)
Absolutely see myself using DR on iPad ... makes for highly mobile solution ... Say you are traveling and you do not have your equipment at hand and you stumble upon a "situation of interest" .. then you can actually shoot footage with iPad and/or multiple iPhones "air drop" the footage to your iPad.. sync the footage using audio .. ... professionally package up a "multi cam" video and upload to where it should go to within minutes ... Then later polish it on your desktop using the voice isolation tool & dialogue leveler in 18.1.1 Studio ... Or if you and a bunch of friends get together for a friendly music jamming session, using a portable WiFi enabled video switcher that allows multiple inputs from the mobile devices at hand .. like Roland's AeroCaster ... You would be able to produce a fairly polished "music video" within the hour ... hmmm ... the possibilities are endless ... 🤩
I actually bought this years iPad Pro 11 for this specific purpose - to edit videos on the go, knowing that DR is coming to this model soon. I am a diving instructor and I don't really have much time to edit videos while at home (and I do have pretty good gaming PC at home), I'd rather do it either between the dives or while traveling to and from the divesite. Ability to import camera footage right away after the dive, without waiting until I get home is priceless. And I can start organizing and editing it right away. I still need to find good weatherproof case for my iPad though :)
Kinda. I'm going to end up using both... put all my media on my 2TB SSD and can quickly connect to either my iPad or Mac using Blackmagic Cloud. That way I can spend more time with my family on the sofa or in the kitchen rather than being stuck to my office chair :) Can't wait.
Thank you Alex this impressive Davinci Resolve run-through on the iPad took me by complete surprise. It's staggering how fast Blackmagic is moving with enhanced mobile video capabilities

Thanks for awesome overview. Was this on a M2 or M1 ipad? I was impressed by the performance of the ipad. Hoping my M1 will be able to handle 4k raw smoothly.
When importing files from the SSD, does it actually edit from the SSD or is the footage imported on the internal space of the Ipad itself. Makes a huge difference in choosing the Ipad options in terms of internal memory
Good question! It edits directly off the SSD :) So if you plan to be plugging in SSD's, you definitely don't need to max out your iPads internal storage. Hope this helps
I’ve been thinking about getting an Atem Mini ISO for awhile. This is awesome that you can edit right on iPad. I’d love to be able to get into multicam video work and live production.

USB-PD power in, 2TB OWC Envoy FX Pro SSD, and a ProGrade card reader with a 256GB UHS-II card inside it, all reading and importing fine on the iPad and Resolve while charging it at full speed.
I try DR and I imported an old project to my iPad, when I try to reconnect everything a few transitions, sounds and alpha videos were OK, BUT! when I try to reconnect the XAVC files... didn't work at all... just offline files... can you Help with that?
using such a specialized keyboard with the ipad is like putting an external flash on a Sony RX100M2 camera. Thus, we don't have any external keyboard and the only tool next to the iPad is a finger or a pencil. How do you do the same thing you showed using only your finger? My speed editor works fine with Macbook Pro, but there is zero info on the ipad DR app showing how to connect. The speed editor never shows up in the BT settings, but does work via BT to my macbook pro. The forums are full of people not connecting then finally putting "resolved it" and never saying how. It's so frustrating that on forums people act selfish instead of sharing and that Blackmagic didnt put out a simple doc or video on how to connect. I've seen another review that made me wonder about Combining rather than replacing your desktop. Apple Universal Control turns the iPad into a kinda Wacom. Blackmagic Cloud allows Simultaneous workflows, maybe with a couple of profiles? There's a LOOOTTT to process here in terms of workflow.
