CGC is, rather always has been, weird about graders' notes. My first pre-screen, post 25 book minimum elimination, I got graders' notes on the rejects. I thought 'Wow, GCG is upping their game,' next pre-screen submission, no graders' notes on rejects. Next regular submission no graders' notes on anything...and now back to reliable GCG business as usual. We can dream. Awesome books to have, and some incredible grades. My son picked up God of War #1 this year and was able to get TC Carson's signature and is getting Marv Wolfman's signature at Columbus Con.
I honestly don’t know what’s worse. Being attacked by Poison Ivy or submitting a book to CGC expecting a 9.2 (9.0 at least) and getting an 8.0. I’ve had both happen and both were miserable feelings.
CGC is definitely grading harsh these last few months. A buddy of mine runs a publishing company and sent off 8 brand new ones strait from the print and they ALL of them came back a 9.6 after pressing.... I think this would be a good thing with trying to "preserve" the 9.8 rating. But its been seeming like they have been intentionally knocking modern books down a grade point. I feel like it cant just be me that is feeling this way.
sorry about the poison ivy. very annoying! enjoyed the video. i typically do my CGC drop at the Baltimore comic con once a year. recently got 73 books back. my venom lethal protector #1's got 9.6s but the #4 got a 9.8. (you had an earlier video about the same thing. lol). in 2018 the 2 lethal protector #1s got a 9.8. is 9.6 the new 9.8? my prescreened books did better than the ones i submitted for straight grading and I was happy with some grades, disappointed with others. I did manage to get 9.8s on the Green Lantern's 48-50, so i have the emerald twilight trilogy in 9.8. thought i would pass that along since you are huge GL fan. hope you aren't itching too badly!
@@MintHunterComics I have been watching you for awhile and if anybody knows a 9.8 candidate it would be you with all the submissions and success you have had . I know the line is thin between 9.8 and 9.6, but I agree that a book you thought was 9.0 or less, something is wrong especially when there's no grader notes.
Sorry James, thats a tough break. CGC is so hot-cold with their grading lately. It depends on who is looking at your book, at what time of day, and what mood theyre in lol. Its a crap shoot. I had some come back that I thought were in better shape and they sent it back lower than I thought. Keep hunting man.
Dude! Your looking pretty darn good for having poison ivy. I’m so allergic to it, I’ve been hospitalized twice for it. Steroids are the way to go. Prednisone!
I had to get the shot several times in my teens & 20s, by the time I was in my 30s the shots had gotten so effective that I got one & haven't had an outbreak since (13+ years now since I'm almost 45).
Imagine sending a 100% 9.8 clean and sharp copy to CGC but CGC decide to F you up for no reason. CGC is really good at doing their job. Oh and can't forget the label didn't mention the newsstand while the book is a newsstand version. That's the icing on the cake. F you CGC.
Weird that out of all these books I got the most excited about Avengers #257 😅 but then I remember you're one of those guys like me who likes the weird ones. That Doctor Strange #61 is one I picked up several copies of over the years because it's such a cool cover, I remember someone saying it was the 1st meeting of Strange & Blade.
Number 1 : just show the grades, I hate when people block them with their hands like it’s some major reveal … just show the dam grade, talk about it and next 👍🏻 Number 2 : cgc has been all over the place with modern books lately, getting 9.8 candidates back as 8.5s with zero graders notes, really annoying as they are just arbitrarily giving out grades. Anyways my opinion, keep up the good work ya good boy 👌🏻

Anything that doesn't get a 9.8, should automatically have graders notes. C'mon CGC, do better!
I don’t understand why grader’s notes aren’t on EVERY book less than a 10.0. We are paying for them to grade, they should show their work!

No - I try to go down that particular conspiracy rabbit hole. Does make me angry when I get a 9.0 with no graders notes though

More good grades than bad. Although it really stinks when a book you thought was a contender comes back with a trash grade.

I just don't know about CGC sometimes. They seem a little inconsistent. And omitting the notes should never happen.
