From the Forbes article, Paulie reads: Disney has revealed that during production of its upcoming live action remake of Snow White, women occupied just 30% of the highest paid jobs but had 48% of the lowest paid positions despite the movie being hailed as a showcase for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

What was particularly funny was that when Zegler was talking about wanting to be paid for standing around in a dress there were pictures coming out of her stand-in standing around in the dress on set.

I really enjoyed this presentation with many excellent points. I had no problem with Rachel Zeglars casting. I didn't even know she is half Latino, due to her surname, until all the controversy commenced. She looks like snow white in appearance. She does have a lovely voice. That said, what came out of her mouth, well what the PR people probably told her to say about the movie, along with her own point of view has certainly tarnished the movie. I just wish that the live action movies weren't reimagined for the so called modern and be kept close to the source material. As for Disney under paying its female employees, it certainly reveals the hypocrisy of the company, not following its own agenda.

I immediately didn't want her to be *Disney's* Snow White. It's like you said, if it was a new story based on the Brothers Grim story that's one thing. To replace Snow White with someone that isn't Snow White was absurd. If her skin color doesn't matter, why not a black woman. If they live actioned "The Princess and the Frog" and used a white actress, I'd be just as pissed.
And Dinklage's position on the dwarves was so moronic it was hard to believe. These are fantasy creatures. A different race, not unlike Hobbits etc. This guy made it up the ladder and pulled it up behind him.
Bottom line, this movie may make some money, but Disney will be leaving half a billion dollars or more in box office on the table. Insane.
I should add, it's clear she's talented. I enjoyed The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes for what it was. She clearly has talent in there. But, she also seems like a brain rotted Zoomer.

Are we sure this is a German story? Why do so many hold Disney's products as "the standard"? Disney derived its movies from the Grimms Brothers who re-told existing folktales. Shakespeare and Verdi "re-imagined" African stories (Othello and Aida).
Well yeah it’s a fairy tale maybe based on a Bavarian princess, something like that. I think most people wouldn’t care if Disney didn’t shovel down their throats the DEI agenda. Then we learn they don’t even take care of their own employees
Rachel is half Polish so she still is a better fit then many other Disney actors in fairy tail remakes. Nah, that isn't really the problem with the movie at all.
The main problem is that no one really wanted a remake of Snow White in the first place and people are very tired of live action remakes by now.
Rachel's problem is that she isn't very good at interviews, she have a habit of sounding very entitled which rubs people the wrong way. I think some media training would help her a lot, or she could stay far away from reporters and social media, that works fine too.
Nothing will change that this movie will bomb hard though. I mean, have they really run out of fairy tails to make movies of? Remaking old stuff is just Disney being lazy and having no imagination at all. Considering how much money they spend on the movie, why wouldn't they just make a new movie instead?
Ever since Live action Mulan, people don't want to see any more of these movies anyways.
Bob Iger talks about "mining" IPs and I think that is a bad idea in general, he is just diluting his brand. The entire world is full of folk and fairy tails, just find a good one and turn it into a movie instead.
There is no pay gap in Hollywood, if you don't like the pay don't take the job, it's not like working at 7-11, YOU make the deal, if you get underpaid its your fault.

I'm curious about this. Do they mean women are getting paid less for doing the same job? I mean, the director probably got paid more than the make up artist, but some jobs pay more than others regardless of who's doing them. So I'm wondering if that article was just to stir up some controversy. 🤔

Unfortunately Snow White doesn't seem like it's going to do well and sadly not all of the damage is self inflicted by Disney just as much damage has been done by her. While I don't think it's failure would kill her career it probably will drop her from top billing and she'll probably have to restart her career from the bottom and get back to the top.
She's debuting on board-way this year with Romeo & juliet, a good move I think...

What exactly are the changes to the story people should expect? That's what should be the priority of the discussion of the film. Not whether or not a particular percentage of the working force have clams instead of rods and what they're possibly being paid.

Jenna is not a broadway level singer. Rachel is not a grounded dramatic actor like Jenna is. So it’s about even. Jenna’s likability makes her rise above Rachel.
