Gang flag, disrespecting the flag code
Never buy a home in a HOA. Most HOA are a Dictatorship. Fine a family for early Christmas decorations Come on Man. I hope he didn't take down. Much love and respect for all first responders.
You have to have them if you live in a shared property situation like condos and the like. I admit that if you have your own property then yes, never do an HOA. But if you live in a condo with shared property then you need an HOA or every time the place needed painting or the grounds need maintenance, etc. You would have to hire a lawyer and draft up a contract then get every single owner involved to sign off and pay a portion, etc... it would be a nightmare.

It's called HOA my man. Nothing about offensiveness or politicalness, some HOAs are just assholes who want to decide every aspect of what you can and can't do with your home. You'll even be made aware prior to buying your home about the HOA and the HOA rules they expect you to follow when you buy your home there. You sign an agreement saying you won't break any of those rules and now you're stuck with em. My HOA thankfully is not too anal, but they do not allow any signs of any kind in our yards. So if you wanted to support a political candidate with yard signage, that's not even allowed here. You can't have people park on your own grass. Yup, that's a problem with them.

This HOA is viewing the flag as political. That doesn’t mean it is. He doesn’t have to do much to prove that it’s not.
Though I do not see this flag as “political” in any light, there is one important thing to keep in mind- this household is a police household, not a random family making a political statement. He served. His family served. He has earned the right to hang that flag on the home that he risked his life to pay for.

I am the product of two USAF lifers, a police officer and RN/Flight Nurse/Nursing Education PM and professor. There are better and less offensive ways to show support for first responders. As for the HOA, unless they are selectively enforcing the rules, which all home owners must sign and agree to prior to move-in, he's screwed. He should really just take down the hate symbol flag.

I'm a veteran and I love my country and the flag that represents it. I'm also for police officers but I really do think they should make up a different flag, one that isn't based on the American flag, one that doesn't desecrate the meaning of the stars and stripes. This flag doesn't have the red/white stripes that represent the valor and bravery of the fallen soldiers that fought for this country and it's very disrespectful. It's as if the cops lives mean more than theirs. The American flag is not about police officers, period. Please, make a new flag and stop riding on the coat tails of soldiers.

Just as back during the Revolutionary War days there are two types of people in todays America. I can't put up my pride flag or BLM/'Love is Love, No One is Illegal, etc.' signs according to my HOA either. Buy a house with an HOA and this is what happens. To avoid claims of discrimination against the HOA, all policies must be consistently and equally enforced. If not, then this guy has a reason to complain.
