Savalass is a first rate burly-q performer and from her moves you can tell she is also a dancer. Her lower register is perfect for the final harmonies. Love her.
I was SO impressed just by this performance, and I’m not surprised given what you just shared! I’ll have to eventually dig into more of what she’s done, for sure!
great reacton... this was the first postmodern jukebox i saw and still one of my favorites. it does excellent job of representing the overall experience of what pmj does so well. not just the excellent vocalist, musicians and arrangement but meticulous implementation of "vintage" character though their outfits, expressions, movements and setting that virtually transfers you back in time. its also great how each of the women are unique in vocal attributes and styles yet can then also harmonize so well together... in addition, the dual bass play was very creative touch and notice how it ends with the bass getting the last word.... well, because its "all about the bass" 😎
Becca my friend you bring such lovely positive energy to your reactions. You are a definite soul sister & this song is AMAZING!! I too Love the Andrew sisters & have often remarked they needed to bring the crony sound back. This song does it splendidly. ❤
Great reactions - best of luck with this whole new year we're all working on. More Haley: Check out "Seven Nation Army" for another fun cover, and "Don't Speak" for a powerhouse performance. More Morgan: "Maps", "Take Me to Church", "Dream On". All of these are with PMJ, in various "vintage" styles. And here's a different sort of female duet: classical voices over a hard metal band ... and an orchestra ... and a chorus. I guarantee you've heard nothing like it: "Sancta Terra" with Floor Jansen and Simone Simons. (Floor is a 6'1" Valkyrie with one of the best voices on the planet, but that's another rabbit hole for another day.)
Thank you so much for the encouragement AND for all the suggestions, I’m making note of them all and adding to my playlist of things I want to make sure I get to at some point. Really appreciate you taking time to share all of this!💕
My goodness, that was a blast. I'm so glad you've clicked with PMJ. There's so much to go at. I'm taking credit for the intro by my badgering you, by the way 😂 The Home Free acapella version of this tune is also brilliant, but hilarious also. Home Free. Another can of worms... Much love xx
PMJ has a knack for turning "turd songs" into gemstones. Such as "Barbie Girl" covered by Morgan James and "Oops, I did it Again" covered by Haley . . . . .
@@BeccaDoss - Glad you caught the tribute riff to Ariana's father, who played a NYC detective on the Kojak TV show. 99% of reactors miss that completely! There's one other riff during Ariana's solo, and that's "Mr Sandman" when she sings ". . . a little more booty to hold at night." See if you can hear it when you listen again. Other trivia: On the first harmony with Haley and Morgan, Haley's singing the melody, with Morgan harmonizing under Haley's lead. On the second harmony, with Ariana and Morgan, Ariana's singing lead as an alto, with Morgan singing harmony on top as a first soprano. When the three girls come together for the final chorus, Ariana's singing the lower harmony as an alto, Haley's on the main melody as a 2nd soprano, and finally Morgan's harmonizing on top as a 1st soprano. With typical PC/Mac speakers, this isn't that obvious, but with a good set of headphones you can definitely pick out each of their parts. Finally, I really enjoyed your reaction - it was obvious early on that you were thoroughly enjoying what Scott Bradlee did with this arrangement, and that you, like several other reactors, have agreed that this cover is actually better than the Meghan Trainor original.
Casey and Haley met on the same season of Idol. That season was one that featured many firsts. Haley and Casey sing Moanin, which featured scatting, Casey playing stand-up bass sing jazz songs, Haley's dad playing lead guitar on one of her performances, Haley singing a Country song featuring her modeling skills. Imo, the best idol season ever, but then the worst too (thank you Randy Jackson for taking us there). Anyway, not leaving this link to react to, just for you to listen. ruclips.net/video/4n_Nh7kr0P0/видео.htmlsi=Y0EIgXELPZQaqZTF
Great reaction, PostModern Jukebox is a big rabbit hole to fall into, they have done so many great songs. Ariana's part is a bit small here, I can really recommend watching her PMJ cover of Bad Romance, she really gets to shine there and show what she can do. (which includes some amazing whistling.) Also Sarah Reich is tap dancing in that one and she is amazing.
Having just seen PMJ on tour less than 2 weeks ago, they still do this song but with different ladies who gradually make their way on stage for their section
I have been waiting for someone to point out the New York New York motif. Also you caught the double meaning of bass right away. PMJ originally did this with a single base playing vocalist called all about the (upright) bass. This adds so much with all the talent and harmonies but it is essentially the same arrangement and worth checking out on the side. More Haley please.
@@JRobertEllsworth-fp2yi I’m so glad you enjoyed the note on that “New York, New York” motif! I thought it was brilliant! The double entendre with bass was just too darn clever, I’m surprised some others maybe didn’t mention it, but to be fair, I’m also very heavily in the music world, and have been my whole life, including instrumental/orchestral music, so these things make my little music geek heart so happy.😊 I’m really looking forward to doing more Haley, and PMJ in general. Do you have any specific favorites you’d recommend I add to my to-react list?

I've watched probably 100 reaction videos of this song and every time I listened to Arianna sing, I have thought that it sounded like New York, New York. You are the first person to mention it. Also Morgan James is Julliard trained. Several people suggested PMJ's Andrew Sisters style of the Spice Girls' Wannabe. If you haven't done it yet, please do!
Honestly, I didn’t catch it when I first listened, but in the editing process, it was much more noticeable, so I tried to at least add that note in the video. The subtlety of adding that in was sheer genius! I am SO looking forward to that Wannabe cover. Funnily enough, that was the recommended video on my screen when this one ended, and it made me laugh because I had just gone on a whole thing about the Andrews Sisters.😁💕
I think you might enjoy another cover of this song. Home Free, one of the modern masters of a cappella, covered this song with a country flair and threw in some humor.
You probably won't get too many recommendations for this one, but you should check out Haley's (w/PMJ) version of Tove Lo's "Habits". I was not personally familiar with this song until I saw Haley do it. But I have since familiarized myself. First off, it's a quintessential Haley performance. Secondly, it's kind of a pitiful song. Maybe it's just me, being a recovering alcoholic, but the song is dark AF and even the original the music doesn't match how dark and pitiful the lyrics are. But Haley's performance of it, in typical PMJ fashion, takes that contrast to a new level. If you didn't listen to the words it's like a playful flapper girl, Betty Boop sounding song. I watched it in a deep dive on Haley, but I found the song itself to be a separate cathartic experience...again, likely because of the rock bottom story telling that I can personally relate to. Even if you don't do a reaction to it, you should watch it yourself. And if you do, force yourself through the Tove Lo version first. I don't say "force" because it's bad, but rather because from my experience with your videos, you are likely to have a visceral reaction to it. Might be fun to do a dual reaction, original then PMJ version. Separately, you are likely to get a lot of recommendations to do PMJ's (also Haley) version of White Stripes "Seven Nation Army". Also, just a mind bending performance from Haley. Jessica Rabbit incarnate.
Infectious reaction. You made me smile. Aside from the usual video requests of Haley and PMJ, you should consider reacting to Haley doing her own thing. A video of Haley singing with her dad on acoustic guitar, at Chess Records in Chicago. She sings the best version of Can’t Find My Way Home, and an original, Don’t Know How To Love You. ruclips.net/video/omtsHEs2g0w/видео.htmlsi=3SixYLspO3SjQWTE Second video Haley singing I Put A Spell On You, live on tour. ruclips.net/video/LCWwOtdf728/видео.htmlsi=DtzfcAAM2M2Xs2JK

Morgan James in the blond, she has also been featured on quite a few PMJ songs.
