Great to see you Becca and nice you chatted live. This track is amazing. Chinchilla’s range is so powerful. The emotion and passion she puts into her delivery and storytelling is 🔥 The karmic message of the track is “if you bite the hand that feeds, then watch out! When I address what you did I’ll do more than bite back when I cut you off”.
Always nice to see you, too, and to be able to connect with you and others in the live chat. I really enjoyed that format this morning, so I have a feeling I’ll be doing it more often, and experimenting with a few different times to see what works best for most people (and gives people different options if they can’t join at one particular time).
That overall message of the track is just SO POWERFUL, my goodness! She’s truly amazing.💕
This young lady is mind blowing. It's totally not my genre of music, but she has a superstar persona. If she had a label that wanted her to succeed she would be headlining the Grammys.
You should check out 2 songs from her younger years.
One, called "Elements" has a lyric video on RUclips, but it might as well be a an actual video. That's from when she was like 21 years old.
The other is a little more recent called "Trigger" from her Moon Maintenance for Dummies album, that she actually made under a record label, but they never really pushed it out because of the coof. It's just an audio track. but you can find it on YT also.
Both are complete bangers, and would 100% be US radio hits if they were pushed. Girl boss anthems. She is such an absolute badass. Not only does she have a great voice, she actually has something to say. A true artist. I'll link the others, even if you don't react to them, you should check them out.

I find that anytime you hear about vulnerability from Chinchilla it's in hindsight, almost as an explanation for why her boot is currently up your ass, and what you did to deserve it. No weakness ever shown in the moment. I don't know if it's an act, or a character, but she gives off total bad bitch (in a good way) street smart vibes. Like she's been through some shit...more shit that a 24 year old should have been through. She has a real raw, experienced view on life. It's intoxicating.

I am so, so sorry to hear you’ve been feeling so sick for 3+ weeks, I can honestly relate and that’s such a pain. Especially if it’s not something that normally happens, it can really knock you down. Saying a prayer and hoping you feel better sooner rather than later, 3+ weeks is long enough. I’m so glad to be able to add any bit of cheer while you’re trying to recover, though!😁💕

Thinking of the short update you gave us a couple of days ago, it looks like you had to push through an awful lot of pain to post this reaction which you had recorded before your medication ran out. I found myself thinking, "So *this* is what Ren also has to do..."
Thank you also for mentioning her outfit. At first it just put me off, but during your reaction i realized it gives her the silhouette of either a cruise missile or a fighter - bomber, signaling that destruction is on the way.

Thank you so much for bringing this up, Dave. It means a lot to just know I’m seen. I didn’t intend to share that quick update a few days ago as a regular video, but the time was one second too long for it to post as a short, so as a result, I think more people saw it than usually see shorts.
But you’re right, it takes a lot to work through editing even on a good day, and even more when all these physical symptoms are exacerbated, and yeah, I’d say it’s very akin to what Ren has had to do over the years.
You’re so welcome for the remakes about her outfit! I loved it (and I forgot to mention this part) because I know she has personally shared many times about how this past year or two she’s finally embraced herself and thrives on letting herself take up space in the world instead of shrinking down for society, etc. And I thought the structure and design of this outfit was a perfect encapsulation of doing just that! I mentioned it in reference to her vocals, but forgot to add the rest when filming.
I LOVE what you added about the silhouette and how it very much does look like some of those offensive weapons-and that takes it to yet a whole new level!
Happy to report the meds came in over the weekend, so things should start to improve a bit soon-ish!🙌🏼

Yesss so glad you got to this one! Something about her voice here gets the waterworks going no matter how many times I've watched it, especially the 'hell hath no fury' note. Fun fact about the ending lines, they're not in the original song and were added last minute just for this performance. The original is super fun too btw, completely different vibe and she really goes all out with the costuming. Hope you're doing well today!
It was such a blast to get to! And funnily enough I was listening on Spotify AS this comment came in, and had just made my way through the end, and appreciating how the not only added that new ending for this performance (so I’m super glad I did this version first!), but also changed the melody and delivery of some lines. I loved the OG, but the power in the “hell hath no fury” line here is unmatched! WOW! But I can see myself going back to both versions, for sure.
Hopefully slowly but surely getting to a better overall level of functionality. My medication finally came in over the weekend, so it takes a while to build back up, but I’m just grateful to finally have it!

Plot twist with the meds: the most vital one is here, and I’m super thankful, but I just realized the second one the pharmacy sent (which also happens to be my second-most vital med when it comes to daily functioning) was made with the wrong ingredients and the wrong dose, so it’s gonna be a rough 2 weeks trying to get that corrected.
I guess it’s a “good” problem to have, because it means I technically have access to these meds, but it definitely doesn’t feel so good to be basically stuck in bed again. Not complaining, though. Being able to connect with others here helps, and this is another reason I’ve started trying to record several videos at once-so I can work on editing even if it’s a week I can’t physically film something new.

Daisy has a wonderful voice and precision in hitting those notes, and she Loves a big belty run, but even when you know she's going to have one, you are wowed by it, and just when you think she hit the high note or extended the syllable as far as she can go, she goes up a level and twice as long as you think she has air for. Add her production work and lyrics and she stands uniquely as an independent artist.
Well she signed with the record label Universal, "Cut you off" was her first song with them. It is a large production and many dancing extras. In her article she said being independent helped her gain some experience but limited her creative process and this current contract is much more in her favor compared to the last one. I believe she was on the production process on "cut you off" as well.

So sorry about that, but I’m glad you were able to enjoy it after the fact! The good news is I was kind of using this as a way to experiment with setting my uploads to go public as “instant premieres,” where I’m able to join in the chat as it plays for the first time, so this was just one time slot I was trying out.
Next time I’m going to plan it for probably 12-1 EST so it’s more accessible across more time zones, and ideally I’ll have a notice up the day before that it’s gonna happen.

Did anyone else spot that there are 10 syllables in ONE - BY - ONE - I'LL - CUT - YOUR - FIN- GERS - CLEAN - OFF .... just as there are 10 digits on a hand ( OK so the thumbs aren't technically fingers but I'm sure this was not merely accidental 😍 ) Chinchilla is such a perfectionist in every aspect of song structure and delivery. Before I get to the body of the video - if no one else has mentioned it, your voice audio is mixed way to the left side. The main video audio is mixed in the middle, so only seems to affect your mic recording.
Watching how she impacts you from the start…I can’t wait to see how her epic belting part hits you ;)
I like how you shared your first impressions from just those first few lines - your positive interpretation of the intent of the person she’s talking about, that they care for her etc, says a lot about your character.
I think the “maybe I should shed a tear” is said sarcastically - she’s not sorry about how the other person feels, because that’s the suffering she went through the last year as a result of them. The sarcasm as she delivers that line might be more obvious to a British ear - if I’ve got it right that is ;)
“Whoooa! Yes yes!” That’s the right reaction to that power of delivery :)
I love how empowering this performance is even if it is about revenge and scaring the bejebuz out of someone who wronged you. The power, confidence, I think is inspiring. I think it’s particularly empowering for women hearing this (the line “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” that she belts so amazingly), but I feel it applies to anyone who has felt down trodden :)
