Also you hit several points now I understand to start the airplane and shutting down too! I am just starting with this game. Thanks! 👍🏻

    It's a good idea to shut all the lights off once the engines are shut down, first, then shut all the other stuff down. If the plane has a beacon light, that of course stays on until
    the engines are totally spooled down. so any ground crew know not to approach the plane until the light is off. Just what I've been taught as a simmer by some experts and actual pilots.
    I think this may be the best plane stock in 2020, and once it's updated fully with all working systems, it'll be the best of the bunch.

    Thank you, thank, thank you. Been messing around in FS2020 for a while in small prop planes but have really wanted to do longer flights to and from places I know but needed to be jets and ILS. Today did my first full flight (LOWI to EDDM) by following your instructions and it worked! You've opened up a whole new aspect of the sim for me! OK - did forget to switch off AP at the end but apart from that wrestled it to the ground and had a great time doing it. Keep up the great work. You have a new subscriber!

    You dont need wing light - only in flight to check for icing on the left leading edge. You dont start both engines at the same time - to much drain on the battery. First you star one engine and wait for stabilising N2, N1 and ITT.

    This was FANTASTIC!! Thank you so much! That is a perfect tutorial! One question: Do you always have to turn the autopilot off and fly it in from so far? I usually cut the auto-throttle off quite early (if there is one) but I turn the autopilot off just 100 or even 50 feet from touchdown. Is that really wrong? It is sort of like what you did in the 172 tutorial.

    Help, what am I overlooking here. I insert a flight plan straight off MSFS followed by entering a confirmation GPS location, plus the ILS freq, and confirming the STAR is entered into the FMS. Following this, I notice that while cruising, FMS1 is showing. On final approach for an ILS landing after clicking FD, VS, APPR, the first click of the NAV shows VOR1 second click shows VOR2, third click goes back to VOR1. I still can't see LOC1 or the 2 x diamonds come up when approaching the landing and this is during my approach to the runway using the Vasey Lights as my guide.

    I just realized the answer is yes, if you have this additional onboard computer in your plane. (the one with the icons) Just find the airport and all the frequencies are listed. From the ILS's to the COM's, the NAV's, the VOR or VOF's.. and stuff.. I'm still learning... :)

  • @TheTorfx

    Thanks for another brilliant tutorial. You really are setting the standard for keeping it clean and simple. I have one, maybe stupid question. Is there a simple way of finding out when, and how much, to start a descent? I too often have to dive onto the airfield.

    • @azayomi
      @azayomi  4 года назад +2

      You can calculate it. To maintain a 3 degree glideslope for an ILS approach, Divide Groundspeed by 2, then add a zero. Example: 120 knots / 2 = 60, add ‘0’ = 600 fpm. Most glideslopes are 3 degrees, not all but most. A simple thing to remember is, 30 nautical miles from the airport you would want to be below 10,000 feet. Then keep descending. For the final approach at 6 nautical miles out at 3 degrees you would want to be about 1800 feet. The approach plates charts will show precise figures for any approach. You can also look at the flight plan from the FMS. Turn on the flight director. The PAPI lights also can help in the final moments before touchdown. That'll get you started for gaming purposes.

    • @azayomi

      They are different. The NAV in the centre is telling the autopilot to follow the NAV. The NAV on the left is the source. So which NAV source to follow, being FMS (GPS), VOR1 (LOC1), VOR2 (LOC2). The button on the left works similar to the CDI switch on other planes. I hope that makes it more clear, to make some sense of the difference.
