    I plan on doing this using Titebond 3 and truck bed liner.
    Don't tell my wife.

    I like the build. I can think of some options for his "poor man's fiber glass" and did not see them listed in the description nor in the video. Could you list what you used?

    • @zrig1
      @zrig1 2 месяца назад

      It is a drop cloth and a shit ton of Titebond II. The drop cloth sucks up a bunch of the glue.

    Great video! I don’t mean to be negative, but you could sure use some more editing. Watching you paint the boat brush stroke by brush stroke is a bit tedious. Good job.

    How thick was the insulation you used, sheets, cost of total project and was canvas like tent canvas used instead of fiberglass?
    Thanks, that's is an awesome build!

    • @richharris9036
      @richharris9036  Год назад +6

      It was 1 inch thick foam board insulation. 2 sheets. The canvas was a painters drop cloth and titebond 3 waterproof glue. 1/8th inch lathe strips inside and out on the gunwhales. Thanks for the comment. The total cost was about $140. However, those same supplies now would likely be triple that amount.

    I saw another boat build just like this, is there any advantage to gluing two boards together along the center other than it probably helps ensure both sides are exactly the same?
    And is this shape better than a rectangular Jon boatish style hull? I assume the curved sides add a bit more strength than a flat side
    Also, go Orioles!!!

      @@mindaugasgau6546 is most definitely strong enough, I've had right at 400 pounds in mine and had zero problems. I also paddled it 97 miles the first summer

    What is the material you use to make the boat?

    • @richharris9036
      @richharris9036  Год назад +2

      It is insulation foam board, and I used canvas for a covering, along with titebond 3 waterproof glue.

    • @richharris9036
      @richharris9036  Год назад +2

      It weighs 41 pounds. The original plans used a much lighter fabric and would only weigh 27 pounds. I fish mostly in a river with tons of logs and sticks, so I decided on canvas to ensure that I didn't puncture it.
