Kup was one of the best characters in the movie. And now to find out he was voiced by Max from Hart to Hart, incredible. Thanks for the review!
He should have became the new leader of the Autobots instead of Rodimus Prime because he was at least a war hero

Kup would probably say " don't mock me on being old, with age comes an understanding that the wisdom and advice you give others is just as important a legacy to leave behind as that of great deeds that are accomplished for society sake".
Kup gets better with age. I don't have my original anymore but proud to have the Studio Series 86 Kup now. Don't forget Michael, Kup knows Japanese as seen in the season 3 episode which is one of my personal favorites of the third season, "The Burden Hardest to Bare"

I always thought of Kupp as the Grandpa that lived down the street who will tell you many stories. It is always great to put a face to those iconic voices that we adore. Thanks for this video on a grizzled vet.
Kup is one of the best transformers characters but also one of the best Autobots ever,in both the 🎥 and the cartoon,also Kup was first voiced by the late 👍 legendary Lionel stander.also Michael all I can say is thank you for posting this video about Kup the veteran Autobot warrior and 👌 up the 👍 work stay safe and stay healthy until next time till all are one.

Great video as per usual. I got Kup myself a few months before seeing the movie. It was the first time I saw 86 toys on a store shelf and just really liked the look of him. I was later thrilled when he had such a big roll in the movie(once I got over the trauma of watching almost my entire collection die on screen that is). He would later be joined Ultra Magnus, Metroplex, Springer, Rodimus Prime(because my Optimus broke a leg shortly after his onscreen and comic book death), and Pipes, Tailgate, Swerve, Outback and Wheelie(because I loved minibots). At age twelve it was my last year collecting Transformers toys(Though I got Sixshot as a Christmas present the following year), so my 86 crew were retired with honor at the end of "my Cybertronian wars". I held out hope for a Powermaster Optimus Prime to stand on my shelf with them but he would not arrive until years later when my interest in Transformers was resurrected as an adult. Good ole Kup though? Still in really good condition, weapon included, and standing beside my reissue Hot Rod where he belongs. (With just a little wear that adds to his character.) 'Til all are one!
I know Kup gets a lot of grief especially for his G1 toy but I was one of my favorites growing up. I'm a sucker for "futuristic" alt modes and he was easy to transform.

Ah, Heart to Heart, used to watch that a lot back in the mid 90s when the original fX network (before it became the FX of today) did nothing but repeat old 70s and 80s shows (they also had a morning news show featuring Tom Bergeron and a puppet named Bob as well as Phil Keoghan of The Amazing Race and Suzanne Whang of House Hunters among others). It's also where I would watch a lot of Fall Guy, Green Hornet, Wonder Woman and Batman.
Jeff Probst was there too. Crazy the hosting talent they had when the network started.

The UK didn't get the movie until December so my first exposure to Kup was in Marvel UK's Target: 2006 when he, Hot Rod and Blurr (displacing Shockwave, Frenzy and Thundercracker into Limbo) went back in time to force Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge back to the future.
Sad to say, it wasn’t until recently that I learned that the name Kup comes from the term pickup truck. I had been wondering for most of my life where the name came from.
I first recognized the actor Mr. Stander was from the comedy movie 1941 which also started the voice actor Robert Stack who did Ultra Magnus!!!!! He was great as the Amusement Park owner!!!!

As a child i had Kup , Optimus Prime and Bumblebee , my older brother had starscream and that purple black plane forgot the name nice memories!
I had this one, too. The only one I ever owned from movie. There was just something I loved about the design and the color scheme.
i grew up with the g1 transformer's and had a lot of them. i got g1 kup for xmas one year. but i never had the target master kup. i miss the old g1 transformers they where the best.

Super cool review of G1 Kup, I liked Kup and Blurr when they first came out and they were Cybertronian vehicles (as a toy) which stood out from the rest of the characters before them. Great video Michael, you're awesome and so totally rock.
Love this video! Kup awesome! And the Dr Wu head upgrade kit was my first 3rd party purchase. I'm building a Kup display with every version of him that I have. Fans Toys made such a fantastic version of him that I avoided ordering that Xtransbots dumpster fire. Ha ha

I consider my G1 Kup one of my really well posably G1 figures because of all the joints in his arms allowing to get more poses with his arms than most other figures
im still a big fan of KUP and still have my original toy of him.
I love Kup he's such a good character he's just one of the better old timers, you would've expected his personality to be like Gears (When we first saw him first in 86 well I did anyway) although he's genuinely one of the funnier characters, the point is Kup is just excellent.

I remember as a kid I got this birthday gift that was a letter with 30$ . The note said here is money for Rodimus Prime, happy birthday! When I got to Toys R Us they didn't have Rodimus or Hot Rod. So I had to get Target Master Kup...

Oh heck, I was watching Hart to Hart back in the day so was fully aware of who Lionel Stander was, lol. I watched a lot of adult dramas back then (Magnum, P.I., Hart to Hart, Hunter, Murder She Wrote, etc). (also did you forget John Stephenson was Thundercracker or just leave him out cuz he's not "old" enough?)

For my personal collection any of my original childhood toys get top billing on the shelf. I love the wear and tear. I may have another clean version or reissue but the original stays out front.

I’m a huge kup fan in fact I’ve just started building my 95 Dakota to be modeled after the old coot. I have badging for my truck that says kup I’m painting it to match his colors and of course I’m adding some autobot symbols. Anyway also as I was looking there are 86 comments before mine which is the same year kup showed up in the movie.
Kup is awesome! There isn't an autobot that I don't like. Back in the day, when I didn't have Kup in my collection, I used the rubber green lion from voltron, and called it Kup lol. It wasn't supposed to be the same Kup in my universe though.

Pax is a recolor of kup. So that means his alt mode before autobots where built for war. Making it a golden age mode.

You do it in a way where I can relearn things and be nostalgic while at the same time it keeps my son interested in what he calls 'stuff from the 19s'. We always look forward to new videos of yours coming out and we always enjoy watching them on the weekends when we aren't in the middle of an outdoor activity. We even listen to your GI Joe year-by-year history anthologies while on road trips.

I like Kup, but felt like he was a replacement for the murdered Ironhide without the on-screen history.
Honestly I think if you painted him red, his design is close enough to Ironhide's that I would have bought him as a revamp like Goldbug
You could of even had a van attachment like the G1 Ironhide's that fit between his legs in vehicle mode
