Awesome history video Michael!! Galvatron was always one of my favorite new Decepticons in the 86 movie, but he really went crazy after the movie. I always thought when Unicron was destroyed Galvatron lost his link with him and it messed up his 'brain'. All and all though Galvatron was a really great designed Transformer. Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I thought that too. Unicron's price for a 2nd chance at life is that you're his slave, and if he dies, you lose your mind. That's why Prime truly won their final battle. Prime got a warrior's death. Megatron may have survived, but got a fate worse than death. Not sure why Cyclonus, Scourge and the Sweeps didn't go crazy though. Instead, they just became inept. 😁
@@MichaelMercy I wouldn't call Cyclonus inept... he was the guy struggling to keep everything from falling apart after the Movie. From handling the unstable Galvatron to preventing the troops from leaving or mutiny. And he had a strong sense of honor, especially for a Decepticon. I love "The Killing Jar", he and Ultra Magnus developed a mutual respect... they were only enemies because they were on opposing sides.
@@MichaelMercy My theory is that Thundercracker, Skywarp, and the Insecticons were all dead by the time they reached Unicron, Megatron was still barely alive, and thus his consciousness continued when he got reformatted, whereas Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps are altogether different characters than the bodies they were built from.
When Cyclones takes Galvatron to have a psy eval it's funny how accurate of the processes with them having Cyclones filling out signing the consent to treatment

I love the unique design of g1 galvatron,his head design looks like a helmet,and i do Like the idea of him being reborned megatron,i mean if he's a seprate character,he will be not megatron,i honestly hated the idea of him being just a repaint in the unicron triolgy,even tho his color scheme was fitting with megatron designs in that contunity(especially in energon),his role waa really good in the netfliex kingdom show,i wish if they give him more screentime more than just a unicron reformat puppet
I think the reason for the size of that toy is because he initially designed to Ultra Magnus's rival, the Decepticon city commander (Magnus for Metroplex and him for Trypticon). I suspect the toy designers had NO knowledge that he was going to Megatron 2.0, even in the toy commercial had him introduced by Megatron. I think there's still old Japanese images of Galvatron and Megatron fighting Optimus and Magnus. I like the character and am baffled why it took so long for Hasbro to give us a PROPER modern toy of him.

Tremendous look at Galvatron! I'm fortunate enough to have been gifted the Legends/Kingdom style Galvatron in the toy accurate colors as opposed to the toon-accurate colors, and to my surprise, I think I love him even more. When standing next to Cyclonus and Scourge, he stands out more: less purple, I mean...lavender.
Feel the power of the lavender! 💜 What I like about the G1 toy colours is it's closer to Megatron with all the grey, so it looks nice if you've got a Megatron to go along with him.

Great video about a truly amazing character; the Marvel UK version of Galvatron in particular was just sublime, and a perfect menacing combination of cunning and crazy (although the 'Transformers: The Movie' version certainly had some killer lines like the one I just quoted, but I digress); most people would probably cite 'Target 2006' or 'Time Wars' as their favourite UK Galvatron story, but I personally have a soft spot for the 'Fallen Angel' arc, where he's powerful enough to take on a dozen or more Autobots while barely breaking a robo-sweat - including all five Dinobots, for Primus' sake! - and that's before he tries to make himself into a god with his volcanic power siphon...!!! (I also really liked the version of Galvatron who popped up in 'Perchance to Dream' - although it might be Galvatron II or even Galvatron III, given the confusion that exists with dating Earthforce stories, yes? - in fact, I took the last part of that story in to sixth-form college to show to my A-Level English teacher because it quoted Hamlet, and we were doing Hamlet in class at the time!). More recently, I picked up a more-or-less complete unboxed G1 Galvatron toy at a convention in Llandudno, North Wales a few years back (it even had the original instructions...!), and he still looks and works great, aside from one of the cannon treads constantly coming loose from its arm peg in robot mode...as for his size, I think he was deliberately meant to match up to Ultra Magnus, as they were the ones being marketed as 'The New Leaders!' back in the day, yes...?! Here's hoping for a History of Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime vid from you soon to boot...'Til All Are Fun...!!!!
When Energon Galvatron came out he was very cool. The head sculpt and the body looked great despite all the kibble. I did have the Lavender Galvatron and liked it a lot but for a long time I thought the Energon Galvatron was great until they improved it recently. I do have the Fans Toys Galvatron and I think that is the best version at the moment.

I recall hearing the movie toys were the first to be jointly designed by Hasbro and Takara. Galvatron wasn't an existing Diaclone toy like the other previous Transformers had been.

Megatron is cold hearted, but Galvatron is psychotic. I honestly can not decide which of these two minds is the more sinister one? Megatron's mind is more unsympathetic, but Galvatron is far more destructive. lol
One thing I didn’t like about Galvatron was when he showed up on the series. He wasn’t voiced by Nimoy like in the 86 film, and his series voice was nowhere as cool as Megatron’s was.
I wish Galvatron would have been terrifyingly ferocious in seasons 3 & 4 of the G1 era like he was in "The Transformers: The Movie", and they could have retained the vocal talents of Leonard Nimoy, who was a far better voice for Galvatron.

There’s a missed opportunity in Beast Wars for Predacon Megatron to call himself Galvatron after obtaining his Dragon Form. Think about it. Both are reborn into something more insane after a dip in lava.
I can understand why Galvatron was in a three pack of triple changers with octane and astrotrain. Because if you're going by G1 continuity by that point in time blitzwing had left the Decepticons after five faces of darkness. That being said you could make the argument that octane betrayed Galvatron as well..... So come to think of it you're right lol 😆😆😆
A bit off topic, but is it just my town (North Bay, Ontario) that has a Walmart with only 1 aisle of action figures and 5 aisles total for all toys? Years back there were a ton of toy aisles and end caps. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing that?

I've done in-depth videos for the '84 and '88 releases if you search on my channel. There have been so many Optimus Prime toys, I'd have to do them decade by decade. Too many to fit in one video.
I traded galvatron for MegaTron when I was a kid. Sadly I didn’t get to hold on to any of them past childhood . But never a fan of any version of galvatron.
I remember that, in some early drafts, Galvatron wasn't mean to BE Megatron. He was suppose to replace him like Rodimus replaced Optimus. That idea got scratched very early on and Starscream got to fill Megatron's shoes, lol. Somewhere I still have a script of the movie in which Dirge jumps Optimus from behind. Prime grabs him and uses him as a shield from one of Megatron's blast, ending him. Megatron lowers his canon and says: "No, I'll crush you with my bare hands" It had a note saying something in the lines of: "Optimus wouldn't do that" So many changes this one movie had, lol
Galvatron vaporizing Megatron would have been the worst death in the movie, and that's saying something. Played out perfectly the way they did it, Galvatron finishing what Megatron should have done to Starscream long ago. Also nice to hear they were so thoughtful of what Prime would and wouldn't do.

A bit off topic, but is it just my town (North Bay, Ontario) that has a Walmart with only 1 aisle of action figures and 5 aisles total for all toys? Years back there were a ton of toy aisles and end caps. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing that?

I've done in-depth videos for the '84 and '88 releases if you search on my channel. There have been so many Optimus Prime toys, I'd have to do them decade by decade. Too many to fit in one video.

I traded galvatron for MegaTron when I was a kid. Sadly I didn’t get to hold on to any of them past childhood . But never a fan of any version of galvatron.
Those live action perversions of galvatrona are horrible
I remember that, in some early drafts, Galvatron wasn't mean to BE Megatron. He was suppose to replace him like Rodimus replaced Optimus. That idea got scratched very early on and Starscream got to fill Megatron's shoes, lol.
Somewhere I still have a script of the movie in which Dirge jumps Optimus from behind. Prime grabs him and uses him as a shield from one of Megatron's blast, ending him. Megatron lowers his canon and says: "No, I'll crush you with my bare hands" It had a note saying something in the lines of: "Optimus wouldn't do that" So many changes this one movie had, lol
Galvatron vaporizing Megatron would have been the worst death in the movie, and that's saying something. Played out perfectly the way they did it, Galvatron finishing what Megatron should have done to Starscream long ago.
Also nice to hear they were so thoughtful of what Prime would and wouldn't do.
