That was fun. My heart nearly stopped when you almost took a knife to that carded figure. For me it brings me back to walking the toy Ile when they seemed to go on forever.
The Silverhawks were one of my all-time favorite cartoons. It had so many excellent aspects and even a wacky intergalactic mob. Tally Hawk made me learn more about and appreciate real birds of prey. I also have a chunk of cartoon adaptions done both by Marvel and DC. Those are fun to flip through at times.
Criminally underrated show. Epic intro music even in an era of epic into music. I still kick myself that my parents sold all my figures. Loved it so much I have a giant tattoo of Monstar on my thigh.
It wasn't until watching this and you mentioning the comics that I realized the similarities between Quicksilver and Darkhawk, at least as far as character design and powers. I wonder if there was some influence from one generation to another.
The Silver Hawks intro was one of those that stuck with you. The crisp energetic animation coupled with that sweet guitar riff really drew you in. It was also a minute and change, enough to illustrate the characters, the villains, the setting and even a bit of the cartoon's dynamic. Effective story telling from a legendary era. Thanks for another great video Ultrasonic Mike!
Awesome review! That was, retrospectively, a really compelling line of toys and associated cartoon. I remember seeing it, remember the toys but for some reason they didn’t “stick” with me at the time. Nice to see a detailed review.
I have all Silverhawk's, bought the US Quicksilver for like 1000 usd 8 years ago, imagine that lol, as a kid I love them along with super powers, and gi joe's
Great video. The original, 1st release Quicksilver was the only SilverHawks figure I had (other than villian Buzz-Saw) back in the day. I will always be amazed at how well kept are your SilverHawks figures, with the vac-metalized finish looking as good as brand new, congrats on that. Also, it's always nice to hear your thoughts on the subject of the rampant speculation that goes on these days with vintage toys collecting; very detrimental to the hobby itself and the community around it.
Very enjoyable production, Michael! As a sci-fi fan in general, Silverhawks was one of my favorite cartoons. Glad you mentioned the comic books at the end, too. Marvel's Star line has a bunch of adaptations of various 80's cartoons.
Silverhawks and Thundercats have really great intros and the quality of animation of both shows was consistent, unlike Transformers, G. I. Joe, and MASK. Having just one animation company (Pacific Animation Corporation) do all the episodes paid off. Side note: current Los Angeles Kings and future Hall of Fame goaltender's name? Jonathan Quick. Both were "born" in 1986. Great video, Michael!
I think Darkbird was the episode where you see Quicksilver's one weakness. He's worked hard to cultivate his squeaky clean image, and is more angered he's being dragged than the actual evil being done. As they say it's personal with Darkbird.
Great vid, as always. Have to honest though, Silverhawks was always Thundercats lite for me. I knew they were produced by the same people, and were usually on back to back, which just made the differences all the more apparent. Never hated it, was just never completely engrossed by it, like TC.
It's funny you should bring up over priced toys from the 80's. I was at my local antique mall yesterday, and they have a whole section of vintage toys from the 80's, and 90's. A friend of mine, and myself were talking about just how insane some of the prices of these older toys are getting. We saw a castle grayskull there that wasn't complete, in rough shape, missing stickers. It did come with the original box, but the box was really banged up. They wanted 400 dollars for it. I commented to my friend that I can see this market imploding one day, because a lot of these toys are being re-released. So why would I pay 400 dollars for this Grayskull when I can just go to toys are us, and buy the new one. Which is almost identical to the old one for 80 dollars. Even crazier than that I saw someone was selling an empty box for a G1 transformer, and they were asking 40 dollars for it. With that said I do totally understand the fun of rediscovering a toy from your childhood, and the nostalgia that comes with it, but there has to be a reasonable price limit. Like you said in the video hundreds of dollars for a silver hawk toy barely anyone had ( a toy I didn't know existed until watching this video) going for hundreds of dollars is crazy. Money that can be spent on a lot of other stuff. Like that new version of Quick Silver that looks really cool. Good video.
before I begin I gotta say I'm still salty they cancelled the thundercats reboot, especially with that episode potentially leading up to a similar silverhawks/tigersharks revival, I enjoyed it a lot! definitely had a good chunk of the figures too, I loved that metallic chrome finish. (I heard it was super prone to flaking though?) heard there was a modern revival in the works though its been a while since I've heard any news but, still crossing my fingers!
I love your Retrospectives and your Videos Micheal, the Latest is Quicksilver The Chrome Commander of The Silver Hawks one of my favorite Cartoon Tv Shows also the Quicksilver Action figure is superb, and all your Retrospectives Videos are all outstanding, and The battle between Both Quicksilver and Monstar are incredible, also I'm looking forward to watching your next two videos later on today, and all your videos are not only superb but very good, also thank you for sharing Micheal keep up the Good work stay safe out there and Nerdmaste.🙂👍🟢✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦
I liked all the random figures in the background
That was fun. My heart nearly stopped when you almost took a knife to that carded figure. For me it brings me back to walking the toy Ile when they seemed to go on forever.
it brings me tears of joy every time i hear the opening beats of the intro, Quicksilver calling for Tally-Hawk, followed by the screech.

Your constant, artful displays adds a lot! I love the style, & the effort put in. All around a great vid.
Thank you. :-)
Your Silver Hawks collection is truly symbolic of all the love that we have for our most favorite 80s cartoons Beautiful.👍
Criminally underrated show. Epic intro music even in an era of epic into music. I still kick myself that my parents sold all my figures. Loved it so much I have a giant tattoo of Monstar on my thigh.
I don’t have many of the Silver Hawk toys either, but I do remember having the stamp. Good times!

Had never heard of Darkhawk so I looked it up. Safe bet Quicksilver was an inspiration.
That Ramen version is gorgeous. You have an amazing collection!

Thanks. More a case if good lighting than them being in perfect condition. 😁

🙏
Great review. Thank you very much!!
Thanks! 😁
Awesome review Mike! Such a beautiful line of toys!😁
Thank you.
I remember watching SilverrHawks
I want chrome hair like Quicksilver.

Thank you. Happy to hear you enjoyed it. That’s quite a coincidence. I wonder if he’s named after Lt. Quick. 😉
@@MichaelMercy I had to look into it, for scientific purposes of course, and the real life version came first.
Cool.
It's a great video! Me and the boys love it! Tally Hawk!!!!
Thank you! Glad you all enjoyed it!
@@MichaelMercy I had Quicksilver and Bluegrass
He did a great job of getting captured or duped in the series
Like I said, the Duke of Silverhawks. 😉

As they say it's personal with Darkbird.
Plus his teammates were about to lose their jobs over it too.
When he brought out the knife to open the box, I gasped. My wife asked what was wrong.
Don't scare me like that Michael.

Same. Silverhawks was sleek and fun, but Thundercats had the heart of a Tolkien story.
This video is elite and amazing! What software do you use to create such a masterpiece?😁
👍🏾

Good video.
I hope posters of box art become a more common thing, like 3DJoes does. Very affordable and takes up less space.
@@MichaelMercy That would be cool if it did.

Ooohh yeahhh!
Marvel's quicksilver?
