I’ve been in the D7E electric drive and that thing was relentless.

Letourneau has been building electric drives for a really long time...i started my operator career running electric drive log stackers back in the 80s and the machine i started with was built in the 60s.

Makes sense. That's how locomotives get the torque to pull massive trains.

What is up wit the blade mount. It looks like it has two c-frames mounted one on top of the other. I would love to see how this works.

Yeah I’m not sure why they went to that. I know they had some issues with the ball/socket style wearing prematurely on the older ones. Maybe they are trying to remedy that issue. I’ll ask around see if anyone knows for sure.

@@theIronmerchantThey bulked up the C -Frame that way, to increase the strength of the blade and removed the hardnose mounted lifted cylinders. Which shifted the cylinders to be mounted to the outer frame, like a D6N or D5N etc.

I’m sure they will work, the seven electric has struggled but some of that is because of going away from the high drive.
High drive rules in my opinion. Easier track cleaning and final drives up out of the muck.

These models have a great body design. But the cabs are no good. The seat mounted controls rattle a lot. The window glass traps dirt between the panels and scratches the glass really bad over time. The side glass is really too tall in my opinion. The cab doors are really thin and don't seal well if washing with a water truck cleaning it. Body is good but the cab is cheapish.

Agreed cat definitely got cheap on the next gen dozer cabs.

D6R, 6R Series II, and D6T are much better dozers. 08' model D6T I got brand new had dual steering pumps and had lots of power turning. These XE's I'm not a fan of. Especially this new cab. I've operated the new D7 as well. It has a nice body design matching the D8T but those cabs are trash. Don't feel solid like the former Cat cab platforms.
