I've got the SteelDive "Captain Willard" in blue. It is one if my favorite watches as well. I always worry that watches will be too small. I love the Captain Willard style.
They are great watches. I think they might be the best homaged watch. Even better than the submariner homages.
Well between your mention of the tactical Frog H5 in another video, which led me to this video & 2 years of wearing a Steel Dive version every day at work & home, I decided to purchase an H5, ... Thanks!
Oh. BTW I'm a water/sewer utilities (distribution/collection) worker in a W Texas small city that has an antiquated water/sewer system requiring frequent repairs, my 'Captain Willard' Steel Dive has amazed me by surviving me and my work 🙂appreciate what you do, great job!
That is fantastic. The steeldive is a fantastic affordable watch. But I think you will appreciate the quality of the H5

Great review! I’m with you with the reality of being able to afford an original Seiko. I just bought a pre-owned Heimdallr Sharkey Captain Willard for $63.00. It looks brand new. The only area I can see that’s different is the raised PIP. I’ve heard great things about this homage.
There are some great homage options of the Willard out there.
@@WATCHingJames Very much so. Another difference is Heimdallr has sapphire crystal that’s AR-coated.
I wear my willard now and again on leather straps and love it ..... Good call :D
They are a great watch to have in the collection and I particularly like the TF version.
the hands are better than my steeldive but the lack of fully lumed bezel is a let down considering the price difference, the strap is the same and gets better with use ,thanks for posting

Great review! This looks a lot nice than the Steeldive version actually. I'd love to see a full comparison, but I think we can already see that this is worth the extra

It might suit you for a future review, when/if you're interested in a titanium 200m diver. The Tudor Pelagos FXD itself is a beautiful tool watch, so a TF homage would be a great watch for a future review.

The hands set and the crystal on this watch really push up the value proposition.
It still really impresses me. It is really well made and just amazing.
Just catching this video now. Totally agree, it looks great on that strap. Excellent review as always! Amazingly in the few weeks since you made this video, you are still the only buyer! I think the price is still putting people off particularly as there are good alternatives for less.
I think their are other option that might be as good but I can say with my experience with this watch it is fantastic.

Would be cool to see this compared against a san martin and heimdallr as they are both a little more expensive. But this is really solid value for money. Good find mate.

Beautiful dial, lovely finish with bevelled edge and stunning bragging rights lume.
Some bezel action, I agree. Thinking now of selling my Steeldive and getting this.

I agree with you. That's one great looking watch with the larger hr/min hands! I have owned the Heimdallr with the applied shark logo for over 4 months now and love it. The C3 lume is very good on mine and lasts thru out the night. The second hand on my watch just ends as a blunt triangle without the needle tip. I was looking to buy another Cpt Willard watch and you, Sir, have pointed me in the right direction. Could you please include some lume shots of the Tactical Frog?

Definitely worth considering
It’s nice, but I don’t see any difference between this and the Addiesdive/Steeldive Willard other than the wider hands and the dial markings. The actual watch looks exactly the same, which I would bet it was.
The Seiko model number on the dial doesn’t bother me since they didn’t print Seiko on it too, which I’m sure they would if they could somehow get away with it.
I have not had the opportunity to have hands on experience with then other brands but there is a distinct possibility that they may all be very similar.

That would not surprise me too much. It’s great for us. Just choose the logo you like best.
