Wow this sounds awesome.
Almost the same setup as you but with ezdrummer. Id doesn't get better than this. This is the top of digital drumming. It's awesome!
Im hoping to get this kit in a few months - been using SD3 for years but never had a good kit... I cant wait :)
You'll be knocked off your feet 🙌
second question: i think in the original Roland VAD504 pictures the module is attached to the hihat stand. Why did you use a separate stand for your setup for the module? was it not stable on the hihat?
Since I haven't received any clamps for attaching the module to the hihat stand, I opted for mounting it on a separate cymbal stand, since in my room configuration, such setup works best for me. Don't have experiences of it being mounted on a hihat stand.
nice! do I see correctly that you are using your ride as a sort of crash too? what cymbal did you select? sounds good!
Hiya 🖖 I use the digital ride from the VAD504 kit the same I use my acoustic ride cymbal - occasionally I crash on it. However, the sound from the ride pad you hear in this video is completely and only ride devoted samples from Superior Drummer. Since the ride is a 3-zone pad, by default it's set to play the tip, the bell, and the edge samples. The edge produces the sound of "crashing" on the ride pad.
third and last question: what kick pedal are you using and how do you experience the noise/sound coming from the roland VAD504 kick drum? (thinking about my neighbours haha)
I use a Pearl Powershifter Eliminator double pedal (chain driven). I've always liked the trillion options it offers for customized playing feel. Regarding the noise of the kick drum pad, I would say that it's tolerable, it would be similar to a bass drum pedal hitting any soft rubber cushion. Actually, the biggest annoyance for my neighbours comes from the Pearl Throne Thumper attached to my drum throne: if it's set to a higher volume, the machine vibrates quite a lot, and the feel and sound of the vibrations carry quite a bit: my wife hears it quite loud two floors below me. But the feel of the throne thumper ("replacing" the non-existant vibration from the pads, thus emulating the acoustic drum playing feel) is something which really enriches my whole experience with the kit, and I would recommend it to anyone (especially since the Throne Thumper amplifier has a built in volume control, where you can easily turn it down and still feel it in your throne/butt 😁).
Do u need to update superior drummer with the new Roland kits so it picks up all the new digital snare hh and Ride
If you install Superior Drummer 3, it's already prepared for all Roland module models, including TD-27 and TD-50 with new digital pads (snare, hihat, ride).
Was it easy getting the digital pads set up? Are they plugged into the pc or the module?
Hi, Isaac. Yes, setting up the kit was pretty straightforward. I had an e-kit before this one, so I was familiar with the basics of the technology. The TD27 module is connected with the PC via a USB cable. Also, my PC is connected with an external soundcard for latency reduction.
If roland just would team up with toontrack..
Oh yeah. To me, it's simply incomprehensive how it is that VST manufacturers are a separate "entity" from e-drum manufacturers in general. Employees from companies such as Toontrack or XLN Audio should be the divisions of Yamaha, Roland, Alesis, and such. How is it that folks from the e-drum industry don't hear what all of their users hear in their samples.
nice idea but the video gave me motion sickness! :)
What soundcard did you use??
I use a PreSonus AudioBox 44VSL. It's been discontinued for some time now. Serves a purpose tho
