    WALNUT Update: while the 1st flight with Walnut was promising (despite the gusty wind), on a hot day Walnut performed poor (the one with dual motor warbird). Many errors in the video file, gyro data way off and stopped recording after 15mins (on a 25mins flight).
    So I will try 2.7k mode next (less heat?)

    Thanks for the ride Mario... it's still cold, wet and rainy here in mid-winter so it was nice to see someone enjoying the warm summer weather.

      From a song that I discovered these days: "if I can't find hope in the winter, I don't deserve the spring" (seasonal depression from pink laundry)
      I will try to send as much summer vibes over to you in the next videos ;) we will have an FPV meeting coming Friday.

    And I agree with you about the Peanut - all my recent stuff is shot on either that, or the SMO 4K - great cameras!

    Can’t believe you just get to fly in that beautiful environment. I lived in Cali for some time which is also as pretty as Austria but everything there is off limits. Either private property or a state park.

      Thanks that helps me appreciate the scenery more ;) this year it looks especially green everywhere because we had a lot of rain in the early summer. Flowers everywhere. Us looks good from many videos, I guess you just have way more space inbetween the nice looking parts of the country. Large dimensions, larg cars, supermarkets, X-Large everything...

    Awesome footage, resourceful use of opposite terrain! I use much the same mode switch setup, and it's very wise to keep autonomous modes away from switch A. It's more prone to get inadvertently flipped during landing or radio handling than switch B is.

    👍👍👍 Great video, Mario! Im also now using my speedybe 405 on my new wing! So far so good! Also Im a big fan of these audio files, coz although Im trying to setup every single plane the same way ( i mean switches on my radio) , its not always possible, especially when using different software, like INAV and Ardupilot. So having voices its sooooo helpful

      End of this month I sahould get the atomrc penguin. Nice little wing.

    Amazing flying and footage, Mario! 😃
    Thanks a bunch for all the tips!
    I'm about to build my first airplane... I should've started already, but I had a pretty bad cold and pain in my chest because of the cough... 😬
    But all fine now and I'm going to start today. 😊
    Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

      Thanks Mario. Good to hear you are recovering, and even nicer to hear about you building your first plane. Not as easy to launch as a copter, but you will manage it. If you plan on using inav, consider autolaunch! Good luck!

      @Rcschim Not yet... I'm going to build the Axon, from Experimental Airlines... You know? And I'm going to build it just with a FrSky receiver I have around for now. It's going to be a good trainer, I hope. 😬

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  Год назад +1

      @@MCsCreations ah - that looks like a very easy to fly plane. keep it simple then - no FC, just RX and fly - good times!
      Good idea also to build it yourself.
      Way back in time I built a scratchbuild foam monster the "AP Solution" a Tucan style nosed high wing trainer (with ele and Rudder only) in a pusher config.
      Back in 2009 it was designed to carry a large camera. Check my Tucan solution video from that era ;)
      I still have it in my hangar - but I guess it would disintegrate in the air if I wanted to fly it now ;)

    I built a Dolphin with a speedybee F405 wing FC, 4 flights later, I lost video DJI , (black screen) hit RTH ...nothing , no crossfire link , so its lost, not blaming the FC , but will be sticking with Matek from now on.

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  Год назад +1

      That's bummer. Sounds like you totally lost power. Must have been the fc or it's bec right? Easiest explanation would be a loose main power lead solder issue....

    • @tubermick

      that's what I'm thinking, I'm very particular with my solder joints, so the FC BEC?

    Hello, after buying the Walnut a few month ago (and asking you many questions after your review) I just found a second hand Peanut for 160€... How does it compare ? The Walnut goes up to 4K/60fps but it is a bit too bulky/heavy on my glider, so until now I sticked with the good old Runcam 2 4K without any kind of stabilisation, and it works OK for me.
    Here is an example: ruclips.net/video/vmCWsAT50Wo/видео.html
    (the video is uploaded raw, with no music whasoever, just for myself and friends, forgive me for that...)
    To me the Walnut seems half-baked as the battery life is not great, the charging time on the other hand is looooooong, and the stabilisation is so-so... and also it is bloody hot while recording for a few minutes !
    In the end I realized 2.7K/1440p and 50fps is already good enough, and a good stabilisation (like gopro 10 or higher) is nice...
    Is the Walnut @4K really a big step up from the Peanut @2.7K, in your opinion ?

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  Год назад

      Hi, you see I tested different cams on the arwing. Walnut looks like a good option, but on the 2nd flight (bit warmer) it overheated, stopped after 15mins (25mins flight) and also I had some nasty skipped frames, gyrodata was poor...
      Peanut on the other hand (really a Insta360 Go2) is very solid. Not good batterylife (20min?) but you can power it from main flightbat (like you can the walnut).
      Quality is good enough for most scenarios.
      Huge bump in quality is Gopro11 mini (which I got as an amazon deal). it's heavy tho. works kinda well on the ARwing (you've guessed it - I built another mount for that :)
      Just flew it today again.
      But if you watch my fixedwing videos from the last 12 months or so - you see a lot of them filmed with the peanut since it just works! and stabilization with insta360 studio is also good!

    • @florianperrin8424
      @florianperrin8424 Год назад

      @@Rcschim Thanks for your extensive reply ! Yes, I saw that as one could foresee, the Walnut didn't handle very well the hot air temperatures... Heat dissipation on the back of the cam does not seem to be really efficient. And the batterylife on my Walnut has never been great, maybe 30 mins...
      But once fully charged ,the go2 seems to drain little power (according to Josua Bardwell's testing)
      I have Hero10 as a regular Action Cam, so I can guess that the quality of 11 mini is even better, with a few features removed from the Hero11 std like photo...
      As I fly mostly planes/gliders below 250gr (as much as I can), 50grs is a maximum for me...
      and yes I saw lots of your Peanut videos, and I found it great despite the limitation in resolution and framerate ;-)
      When I'll stop crashing every now and then, I'll maybe switch to larger gliders, then the peanut could be a very good option for filming from the wingtip/winglets !
      The only drawback is the way the case is designed, not really aerodynamic, neither easy to fix on a wing without adding considerable weight...
