Does it have an app yet? I know MG launched the iSmart App but not sure if its available in the UK and for the MG5. After having on a few occasions the BlueLink app on my Ioniq tell me when a public charger has stopped charging a few minutes after I've gone into the services, I'd not want to be without. Also is the Lane Keep Assist one that just pings you from left or right or is it one that autosteers to keep you in the centre of the lane?
Hi, I've had my long range exclusive in white 1 month now, and I'm more than happy I pulled the trigger. It doesn't have the ismart app as this is due on the face lift mg5 due late 2022 in the UK. I didn't want to wait for its release to then find chip shortages were still an issue, etc. I may part exchange to the face-lift in the future as ismart is useful as you've pointed out, plus the other improvements in all the other areas are much needed, imo. Finally, the lane keep assist is great👍, nearly perfect. I've used it for 400 miles on dual carriageways and motorway so far and it has been a feature I now cannot be without. Other higher prices EVs have likely refined it to a 9/10, but I'd give mg pilot 8.5 😀 it's definitely not useless like some cars that ping your around 😉

If it only had a bit more stylish body, maybe different alloys, privacy glass, pan roof, I was given a test drive as part of presentation to my company, and honestly was surprised at how good it was love physical climate control dials, I drive a 330E hybrid 2020 as company car...and whilst I would not swap, but as a second car for our dogs and with petrol at £1.58 a litre it makes sense

"Front wheel modest reserve of traction". That was what I first noticed when test driving it today. But they have such a good leasing deal for private persons I think I get it anyway. Seats are kinda shitty. No leg support. I drive an VW Arteon diesel 240HP and when getting in to my car it was a comfort relief. However it feels like a dinosaur when driving right after an electric car. I was surprised how quick the MG was for being a kinda middle class cheap EV. Its a car. It is not fun. But if you don't need a show off car and need something to take you from a to b with a few longer trips that forces you to charge while still traveling. Well then this is an option for a lot of people. Me included who doesn't drive that much and therefore is not in need for perfect comfort like the Arteon. For me i'd like a smaller car this cheap from MG. I don't like the SUV. That was even more mushy to drive.
Hi Barry, thanks for watching! Estates do generally have a flat boot area. However, the MG5's unique boot doesn't stop it from providing a generous space of 1,456 litres with the seats down. 👍
Perhaps u should have made reference to the fact that over 5 hrs of driving , it averaged 2.8mls / kw......... Somehow I doubt that you had it up over 90mph for 5 hrs.....so that figure is not going to provide over 250 mls @ 60 x 2.8....leaving less than 20 mls to find a working charger gives a usable range 100 miles less.........particularly when the average is shown at just c 26mph..!!! The Zoe can average over well over 5mls/kw at that sort of average speed....Probably approaching twice the efficiency - presumably thats where the extra couple of thousand £ goes? I Really want the MG5 to have 240+ usable range, but it just cant, when reports of c 3mls/kw are on the web reports
Testimonial: I’ve had an MG5 Long Range for over a year now and 200+ miles in motorway is the minimum I get. I drive at 70 m/h on eco but don’t have an eco foot. We went on a family’s trip to France - dodgy charging in infrastructure- and got on really well. We averaged 210 miles on motorways driving at 120 km/h. My wife commutes 70 miles per day on a motorway and we charge at home twice a week. This car is seriously good!
Has any one thought what we are going to do with the millions of fossil fuel cars that will still be on the road after 2030. By the time many of these EV's are affordable second hand the 8 year manufacturer's battery warranty will have expired. The driving range after 8 years will have probably diminished by a third at a guess. What are going to do with the lithium ion batteries? Keep burying them.
They will still sell ICE cars in the America’s, Africa Asia. Just the West are potentially screwing the poorer people until second hand EVs become more main stream.
the nearly 9 year old Leaf i've just sold had 92% remaining battery capacity. That was with no active cooling whatsoever, so newer batteries will perform even better.
What do you mean “what will we do with them” no one stopping you continuing to use your fossil car. And why are you guessing about battery condition? There’s plenty of studies out there telling you the facts
It's an ESTATE car. So, WHY WHY WHY is the Load Area not COMPLETELY 'FLAT' with the rear seats Folded Down ? ... That is the WHOLE POINT of an Estate Car ! ! ! That's a Deal Breaker for me. Sorry MG ... NO SALE. ..
Hello Linux 👋 Thanks for your comment. Estates do often have a flat load area, however, this electric model still offers 1,456 litres with the seats down, as well as a flat rear floor ensuring generous spacious seating in the back.
I have the long range exclusive, and the seats not folding flatters is annoying at most. I'm happy overall, as I can not expect much more at this price for a 250-mile large EV in comparison to what's on the market.
I’m told by an owner that the rear seat squab can be lifted out to allow the seat backs to fold down, which gives a much flatter boot floor. Trouble is this leaves no usable back seating, and there is still a bad lip at the rear. Come on MG , you can redesign this, surely? This would make the car much more acceptable.
I look forward to seeing a review of the late 2022 refresh model. The new one looks SO much better.
We hope to bring you coverage soon! Keep an eye out 👀

My main gripe with it is the boot lip surely it’s an estate so should be flat?

Nope! We reviewed the standard MG5 EV last year. This is the Long Range variant 👍
