A couple weeks ago my wife and I did Spruce Flat Falls, Indian Flat Falls, Baskin Creek Fall, Avent Cabin, Walker Sisters Cabin, The Jump Off and several river walks. Perfect Fall color.
We did all the falls and did them very early to beat the crowd, it worked out pretty well and the time of year is key, we go every year, and we go the second week in May, we will head out May 6th in 2024. Great video.
That's awesome. Do you have a favorite waterfall hike in the Smokies? You are right, time of the year, day of the week and time of day can all help for sure. Thank you for commenting.
Excellent Information Scott! I love hiking in the GSMNP and have hiked quite a few trails out there. I found that going in the 'off season' and during less pleasant weather helps cut down the crowds :) nothing like a good hike in the rain!
Thank you! You are absolutely right. Rainy hikes and winter hikes will help mitigate any crowds. Also early morning hikes (which is when I love to go) help as well! 👍
Just got back from the Smokies and did Ramsey Cascades and Grotto Falls. I've visited plenty, so I did many that you mentioned. I find the slightly longer trails get rid of the crowds. Another one I found that isn't crowded is Baskin Creek Falls.
@@thegratefulhiker I'd have to say my favorite is Indian Flat Falls. It's not a busy trail and a nice walk along the stream with other falls. I also like the seclusion at the final falls.
Great suggestions! During your intro, I was saying to myself, "Middle Prong is perfect for this list." I also recommend Old Sugarlands Trail to the CCC camp, Porters Creek, Schoolhouse Gap, and Baskins Creek (once you're off the loop road).
Wish I had seen this before we went! We just got back from our Smoky Mountain vacation. We did Abrams Falls, Laurel Falls and Alum Cave Bluff. All beautiful but so crowded. We actually feel in love with Townsend while exploring so next trip we will be sure to check out your recommendations ❤. Thank you 😊
Hope you had a great time, Stephanie. I love Townsend as well. Here's another video I recently made. It's a more in depth look at the Middle Prong Trail (which is the first trail I mentioned in the 5 hikes to avoid crowds video). ruclips.net/video/YYH5Bo6Lgmc/видео.html You'll love it!
@@thegratefulhiker thank you!! Next time we go back we will be sure to look this one up. We loved our trip and can’t wait to go back. It is just so beautiful there ❤️
@@thegratefulhiker It is a nice hike, but be aware the last part of the trail down to the falls is a rock climb and the return hike is almost all uphill.
Thank you! Never heard of these trails and will have to check them out. Just got back from the Twentymile loop up to shuckstack, then gregory bald and back into Twentymile. Have you done this loop before? Now following 794!
122 million people watch RUclips each day. I have less than 1000 subscribers. I think we good, deborah, don't you? LOL 😂😂😂😂 I checked Middle Prong Trail on Sunday and guess what? Hardly anyone there. 😜😜😜😜

Top job mate. Good vision great colours and I'd def want to check out some of those hikes if I lived a bit closer . All the best #vrafam
Thank you so much, Tim! The Smoky Mountains are a great place to hike. Whereabouts are you?
@@thegratefulhiker hey mate, I live in Adelaide Australia. A short hike from the Smoky mountains! Lol
Great job. I have been hiking in smokies since early 70s. Actually not really hard to get away from people.

Thank you for all of those other suggestions, David. Yes, I love the Middle Prong so much!
I will be visiting and hiking the GSMNP in 2 weeks and really looking forward to it!
That's great! Will you be doing any hiking?
@@thegratefulhiker I plan to do some short hikes around Gatlinburg.

i love hiking and best experience like to see a waterfalls
I agree. I plan on doing more waterfall hikes in 2023!
We did Baskins Creek Falls from the bottom last week. We didn’t see anyone else for the entire hike. Spruce Flats is one of our favorites as well.
I haven't done Baskins Creek Falls yet. Always nice to have the trail to yourself. Thank you for commenting.

I just hiked to Grotto Falls 5/5/24 and took my sister in law and my 79 year old mother in law for there first hike. Went early to avoid the crowds
I have done alum cave, rainbow falls and laurel fall, clingmans dome
Awesome! Do you have a favorite, Christina?
VERY helpfu.😊
Charlies Bunyan was packed
I'll bet! That's a popular hike. How did you like it? What time of day did you go?
Coming there in April how do a schedule a guided tour please
We have done Laurel twice around 2:00pm and it was not anywhere near as busy as that picture.
That's great for you.
I went up alum cave to Leconte, it was pretty crowded. Coming down I took bullhead, not a soul.
I mean really thanks a lot for telling all RUclips people

Try Upper Meigs Falls, very beautiful and not crowded.
Thank you for that recommendation. I love that part of the Park!
Any gold in those streams?
I haven't looked yet. Some trout in there.
You are pronouncing Tremont incorrectly. A shame that the locals can't have some places that they can enjoy, without troves of tourist.
You're right, it's pronounced "Tree-mont." Thank you for the correction.
Locals only brah! 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good luck with that. 14 million visitors to the Smokies each year, brah. 😂
@@thegratefulhiker Yeah I know dude, I'm from there.
You do realize you now told everyone where to go to make it crowded
It's OK. I have less than 1000 subscribers. I think we good. 😂
