      You can't see anything at that speed and his hand was off screen while he was describing what he was doing with his wrist.
      So how did you learn how to do it?
      It's like those snowboarding videos that are meant to teach you how to spin. But they say "go like this and do a 360". 😅

    Fantastic to have a person that is clearly a very good player demonstrating a shot with a shuttle, but I take issue with the demonstration you did without a shuttle(the kind of demonstrations most people/coaches do very badly), . Looking at 0:11 you certainly do not want your elbow there.. bad demonstration though many badminton coaches often demonstrate it wrongly like that .. Watch yourself do the shot and your elbow isn't there. You are better off putting yourself in slow motion 'cos like many good players you have no idea what you look like and you can't manually do it in slow motion. Watch the video of yourself actually doing it with a shuttle, put that in slow motion, and see your elbow is pointing more out than you think it is. Whereas in your shuttle-less demonstration your elbow is pointing forwards The demonstration with a shuttle is much better than your demonstration that you did without a shuttle. Most shuttle less demonstrations need to be taken with a pinch of salt in the case of almost all coaches.. Almost all coaches, especially ones that can play really well, have issues like that though so no worries ;-) You communicate well and concisely , and play great.. and it's great that you put the videos out there. And that you show yourself hitting it. If only I could hit it as half as well as you!

    • @Basicfeather
      @Basicfeather  2 года назад +2

      Hi Boliusa! Thanks for the feedback 🙂
      For the demonstration without the shuttle, did we overexaggerate the movement? Yes slightly.
      The reason why we are doing so is from our experience as a coach, overexaggerating at times can help the understanding. Though we would argue, getting that elbow high is essential for this shot, and all other overhead shots.
      As for the timing, that depends on where the player is versus where the shuttle is. Sometimes that would mean you have it right above you, which means your elbow can go "straight up", sometimes it's more on the side, which means your elbow has to point slightly to the side.
      We have not included slow-motion in this video, that is definitely feedback we are implementing to our new videos. That is to come.
      Thanks for the feedback once again, it's great and keep going !! :)

    • @boliusabol822
      @boliusabol822 2 года назад +2

      @@Basicfeather Thanks.. I'm glad you like the idea of the slow mo.. I'd note also.. if you want to exaggerate a movement, it's better to say that that's what you are doing.. and for the shuttle-less demonstration, instead of only demonstrating it exaggerated, to demonstrate it shuttle-less without exaggerating it too.
      Also, indeed the shuttle can be at different contact points. and so then there's commonalities in the mechanics, and differences in the mechanics. And that's a subject in itself which understandably you weren't going into in that video. But best when you are doing a shuttle-less demonstration of how to hit it and showing yourself hitting it, you're demonstrating for the same contact point/same type of shot, that you are showing a video of yourself hitting. (unless stated otherwise).

      Great form, but unfortunately wrong explanation. elbow is always down not up during ready pisition/ preparation phase. Pointing elbow down is crucial to a good starting position. but yes. rest of the stroke should be same as clear or smash except angle of the racket face is not perpendicular, or you slice it at an angle.

    • @Basicfeather

      Yes, when hitting the shuttle you want your left arm close to the body to be able to generate power and momentum in your body. Imagine like pulling something, you’d need that rotation to generate power. Right? ☺️
