Small correction. Im jewish. I joined YPG in early 2017. I was in Raqqa city when we liberated it from ISIS near the end of 2017. There were zero kosher places to eat, and zero rabbis to oversee kosher slaughter... so I relied on Halal (in the name of pikauch nefesh) and hevals who allowed me to do the slaughter of a number of goats, to the best of my ability. Muslims ABSOLUTELY recite a blessing before slaughtering an animal. It isnt as strict of a blessing, and there are multiple variants of said blessing... but the slaughter must be made, vocally, in the name of Hashem (well... made in the name of the G-d of Avraham Avinu). But any animal killed without envoking the name of Hashem is not halal.

When my grandparents arrived in Europe a long time ago, halal meat was not available so they used to go to the closest big city to buy kosher meat instead. They also were happy to speak Arabic with Jewish people from North Africa as they were from North Africa as well, and some of them were from the same city. My grandfather actually grew up in the same house as Jewish people and the Muslim and Jewish women used to cook together as they shared the kitchen. They nursed their children together and my grandfather has been breastfed by a Jewish neighbour. I've been told that during Shabbat, it was the Muslim women who turned the lights or the fire on for them if they needed it and as it is forbidden to do it during Shabbat.

" So, if food has been specifically blessed or consecrated in the name of a deity or figure other than Allah it would typically not be considered Halal (permissible) for a Muslim to consume. Curious how Jews and Muslims would respond to this question: While the Abrahamic religions all have their different belief systems and are thus categorized as individual religions, do we not all believe in the same God? We use different names in different languages but all referring to the same deity, supposedly. So if an animal is slaughtered “in the name of God”, this is therefore applicable to the other religions as well? Or does Islam believe that their Allah is not the same entity as the Judeo-Christian God?

Not all kosher is halal, it might have wine in it, white wine vinger, rice wine vinger or maybe the Rabbi cut corners, so we usually do not eat kosher as many muslims do not eat all food said to be halal because some halal slaughter houses under pressure from govts may stun their meat or cut corners so we are careful verify it, individual case by case matter and also any restaurant that halal that sells alcohol, your meant not to eat from, as if they can be relaxed about alcohol which is a major sin then they can be relaxed about halal requirements... Here is a hadith showing the Prophet (pbub) consumed vinegar so therefore it is halal to consume: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2052 The stunning with meat thing is because striking an animal over the head means it is not permissible to eat and they stun the animals using something called a captive bolt gun which rams a metal bar or "bolt" into their brain. The other method of stunning is electricity which causes pain and abused animals are not halal to eat. I understand your thinking that because it is intended to prevent suffering and it is ok but that is just a lie told by meat producers they really do it because it is quicker and easier they dont really care about the animals suffering using a bolt gun will just mash the prefontal cortex of the brain and stop the animal struggling it will still feel the pain. This is inaccurate. Halaal means the animal was treated with mercy, not abused or handled roughly, slaughtered while invoking praise and thanks to God.

Halal meat has 2 conditions: one that the jugular vein is cut so the animal feels no pain, and two that the name of Allah is invoked before slaughtering, as no food is eaten without the blessings of Allah. Muslims will eat kosher for two reasons. Jews are considered amongst 'ahlal kittab' meaning 'people of the book' and it has been permitted. They dont necessary eat from christians because many eat pork which is haram. Pork is also not eaten by jews so this is why muslims respect kosher meat. They know it will not be contaminated.

As a Muslim, i want to make it clear that he is wrong when he says that we dont make blessings before slaughter, that is FALSE! we actually DO Make blessings before slaughter such as slaughtering in the name of God and saying the greatness of God (ALLAH). Otherwise if you purposely refuse to say those before slaughtering, therefore the meat wouldn't be halal (permissible). It will be considered HARAM ( NOT permissible). So we actually do make blessings upon slaughtering animals and making sure the knives are EXTREMELY SHARPE making sure its done nice and Quick in order to avoid long pain, harm or torture to the animal upon slaughter.

The first year i was in Europe, i had to settle for kosher meat until i found a moroccan butcher. In France ir Germany, i do look for kosher sign at the supermarket as sometimes these places do not target halal-food eaters for their personal reason.

So, I said instead -just to make it easier for me and him as well-, as long as it's Kosher. He was very surprised and asked me if I was jewish :D. I did not know that. When I was young I saw a cow being roughly lowered and shoved into a machine of steel and there was nothing Jewish or Kosher in what I saw. this is quite incorrect. there are many reasons why jews cant eat halal meat and a blessing isnt one of them at all, thats just further perpetuating a common trope about kashrus. kashrus does not depend on a rabbi making a blessing. kosher means the animal needs to be ‘shechted’(ritually slaughtered) by a shomer shabbos jew. also halal allows camel meat where as kosher does not and at a halal restaurant there would be concerns of cross contamination. regardless the beef wont be kosher because muslims do not shecht the animal in the neck, they butcher from the back of neck and even if they did shecht it has to be done by a shomer shabbos jew regardless.

There is no such thing as Abrahamic religions. We Muslims dont believe in such a thing. Abraham was def not a Jew nor was he a Christian he was a submitter (Muslim) to God and a monotheist. Assuming you were talking about meat only, some Islamic sects allow Kosher meat (perhaps the majority), but in my sect we are only allowed to eat Halal meat if it's slaughtered by Muslims.

Halal also has different meat that is halal, like camel, which is not kosher. Halal meat does not check the organs, or strip veins, or soak the meat to drain the bloo kosher is not one step only By saying a prayer. That is a small part of the mishkiach's job. Even the cooking counts towards kosher.

Im jewish. I joined YPG in early 2017. I was in Raqqa city when we liberated it from ISIS near the end of 2017. There were zero kosher places to eat, and zero rabbis to oversee kosher slaughter... so I relied on Halal (in the name of pikauch nefesh) and hevals who allowed me to do the slaughter of a number of goats, to the best of my ability.
Muslims ABSOLUTELY recite a blessing before slaughtering an animal. It isnt as strict of a blessing, and there are multiple variants of said blessing... but the slaughter must be made, vocally, in the name of Hashem (well... made in the name of the G-d of Avraham Avinu).
But any animal killed without envoking the name of Hashem is not halal.

When my grandparents arrived in Europe a long time ago, halal meat was not available so they used to go to the closest big city to buy kosher meat instead. They also were happy to speak Arabic with Jewish people from North Africa as they were from North Africa as well, and some of them were from the same city.
My grandfather actually grew up in the same house as Jewish people and the Muslim and Jewish women used to cook together as they shared the kitchen. They nursed their children together and my grandfather has been breastfed by a Jewish neighbour.
I've been told that during Shabbat, it was the Muslim women who turned the lights or the fire on for them if they needed it and as it is forbidden to do it during Shabbat.

1. Muslims do bless/pray as well before the slaughter:
The butcher invokes the name of God before the cut by saying "Bismillah" (In the name of Allah) and then "Allahu Akbar" (God is the greatest). This blessing is an essential part of the Halal slaughtering process.
2. According to Islamic dietary laws, Muslims are generally prohibited from consuming food that has been consecrated in the name of anyone other than Allah. This is based on the Quranic verse (6:121) that says: "Do not eat of what is not slaughtered in Allah’s Name. For that would certainly be ˹an act of˺ disobedience. "
So, if food has been specifically blessed or consecrated in the name of a deity or figure other than Allah it would typically not be considered Halal (permissible) for a Muslim to consume.

Curious how Jews and Muslims would respond to this question: While the Abrahamic religions all have their different belief systems and are thus categorized as individual religions, do we not all believe in the same God? We use different names in different languages but all referring to the same deity, supposedly. The stunning with meat thing is because striking an animal over the head means it is not permissible to eat and they stun the animals using something called a captive bolt gun which rams a metal bar or "bolt" into their brain. The other method of stunning is electricity which causes pain and abused animals are not halal to eat.

Jews are considered amongst 'ahlal kittab' meaning 'people of the book' and it has been permitted. They dont necessary eat from christians because many eat pork which is haram. Pork is also not eaten by jews so this is why muslims respect kosher meat. They know it will not be contaminated.

this is quite incorrect. there are many reasons why jews cant eat halal meat and a blessing isnt one of them at all, thats just further perpetuating a common trope about kashrus. kashrus does not depend on a rabbi making a blessing. kosher means the animal needs to be ‘shechted’(ritually slaughtered) by a shomer shabbos jew. also halal allows camel meat where as kosher does not and at a halal restaurant there would be concerns of cross contamination. regardless the beef wont be kosher because muslims do not shecht the animal in the neck, they butcher from the back of neck and even if they did shecht it has to be done by a shomer shabbos jew regardless.

i dont know about muslims eating the kosher meals, because the halal meals doesnt just mean 'avoid pig meat' and things like that, islam also teaches an islamic way to slaughter an animal, which is (im unsure of my answer), you hold the animal, you close their eyes to not let them see the knife, you direct you and your animal towards the qibla, you say bismillah, allahu akbar, then behead the animal... etc

Halal also has different meat that is halal, like camel, which is not kosher.
Halal meat does not check the organs, or strip veins, or soak the meat to drain the bloo kosher is not one step only

That’s not true. We are only allowed to eat meat from animals that are healthy. So do their organs. The Qur'an states that we may only eat of the good things and these are permissible for us. This statement implies that a sick animal is not halal and thus unfit for consumption. So it is mandatory that the animal is checked for diseases before it can be classified as halal. In addition, the animal must be bled before it is halal.
Hi rachel.we check the animal if they got a disease is not kosher .it goes to our blood sistem. Also God hashem order no milk mix with meat .🙏🌹
