    When I was a boy, I had to dispatch a rabbit with it. I was playing golf and it sort of flopped out from the grass onto the tee off. Poor thing must have been in agony, makes you wonder what sort of people released such a disease.

      I know mate, makes me so sad when I see them about

    Interesting.... I really wonder about the authorities that release such a thing, the suffering the animal endures as opposed to a quick dispatch.

    I learned about this being used in Australia to control their feral rabbits!
    I don't eat rabbit really, not sure about it being nutritious. I think its EXCELLENTLY nutritious for dogs and even cats though!
    If kept under control, great farm aninal for feeding other aninals and making THE BEST manure ever.

      This is the thing, why should we humans introduce man made diseases into the animal populations when we can hunt and eat these animals to keep their numbers under control!

    i have heard from a us citizen who was a passenger while i was yet a taxi driver, "if it has dots on the liver, don't eat it" but, most of the bacteria become harmless once the meat is cooked
    1:00 it maybe still good as bait for fishing

    What about rabbits with mange, I've shot a couple over the years that had mange and they where NOT eaten but can you?

    • @Kerr.Rawden
      @Kerr.Rawden  3 года назад +2

      Mange can be transferable to humans (think scabies), so I personally wouldn't 🙂

      @@Kerr.Rawden thanks. I thought it wouldn't be very good for us, its better just to put them out of their misery.

    i i wish all we can have a free land

    • @ForageGardener
      @ForageGardener 3 года назад +2

      Maybe you can? Theres a lot of unused and abandoned land.
      Most jurisdictions and nations have rules about how to use them.
      What part of the world are you in?

    • @ForageGardener
      @ForageGardener 3 года назад +3

      Also its never free it requires work and study and you have to go work and upgrade the land

    In an emergency yes. Not that I have personally or want to. Enough heat beats anything that will do you harm from a mangy rabbit right? Cut of the dodgy bits..Cook up to I would say 90 degrees Celsius in center of meat. That's a decent amount above restaurant health and safety proper reheating meat temp to serve. can just overcook a bit also if taste isn't a priority. Use a temp probe if possible or just probe with a knife and hold it in for 10 or so seconds and feel if it's piping hot, when its difficult to touch the end of the knife knife for longer than 3-4 seconds immediately afterwards. I have a temp probe that is quite rugged I chuck in my camping kit.
    Never eat the organs of a sick animal in any situation. Not worth it ever.
