    do you think we need to memorize braden scale for nclex?

    • @LevelUpRN
      @LevelUpRN  Год назад +1

      I wouldn't focus on memorizing all of the associated numbers of Braden, but rather generally what the components are and what the cutoff is in terms of what puts you at risk, plus knowing interventions. In general, it's less important to know the nitty gritty scoring of things like Braden, GCS, etc. and more important to know what requires intervention (and what those interventions are). --Meris

    Why don't we massage bony prominences? Thank you for this helpful video!

    • @LevelUpRN
      @LevelUpRN  3 года назад +5

      You're so welcome! Although it actually _used_ to be best practice to consider bony prominences (it was believed that this helped to improve circulation to the area and reduce the risk of skin breakdown) the current best evidence states that there is no demonstrated correlation between massage and prevention of pressure injury, and massage of these areas can actually cause damage to the underlying tissue! This is a bit of an outdated article (2011), but it still has good information on why this is now considered best practice! Hope this helps :) --Meris www.nursingtimes.net/clinical-archive/tissue-viability/does-massage-help-to-prevent-pressure-ulcers-15-08-2011/
