TFK does seem like they're a mix of Skillet and Linkin park at time with some of their songs especially with the way the songs are mixed. You should do Born this Way by TFK

I hadn't heard this song in a few years but before you mentioned Linkin Park I was thinking, these verses sound like Bleed It Out by Linkin Park with the guitar and clapping. The only difference is that Mike Shinoda raps in that song and Trevor was basically doing melodic rapping. Trevor's singing voice is great so I definitely agree with you about the chorus. I personally like when he sings and raps, cuz he does both, but I understand it's not your cup of tea. Great reaction as always David!

The clapping and .or snapping. Just irks me.

@@dpwellman Yeah, I think that might be why I hadn't listened to this song in a while

TFK definitely has that mix of rap/ singing elements in most songs. In their older albums they focused a lot on more rock/rap. The verse in this is more spoken word than raping.

I personally really like this song, but it wasn’t until I watched this video that I realized how repetitive it is
Edit: I think the reason I like it is because it evokes my Saturday morning cartoon nostalgia

I like some TFK songs, but I stay away from this entire album. I think I met the same dilemma as you did with the chorus.

Although I am not a huge fan of this band, I think they are worth a listen they have some pretty good songs like Phenomenon and Move. But I agree with you that some of the songs can be very weak sometimes

At one time I listened to these guys, and in general their work ended for me after the release of the 2012 album "The End Is Where We Begin". Next - amen.

Never been the biggest fan of the song for similar reasons as you. While the chorus is good the rapping isn't, and because of that I feel this is one of their weaker songs. Honestly I can't think of another song where they did this style of prechorus rap into singing chorus, so unless I'm mistaken this kind of song is a one-off by them. TFK is a band I listened to growing up and they definitely have better songs than this such as Hand Grenade, Art of Breaking, Welcome to the Masquerade, Slow Bleed, Move, Absolute, Scream, Falls Apart and Everyone Like Me.

I could describe every TFK song the same. Some good hooks, some parts I'd throw in the trash. one of the most frustrating bands I've heard.

First off, generally a fan of TFK. Have seen them in concert several times between 2009 and 2014. The pinnacle was album _Welcome to the Masquerade_ after which they went independent and, as far as I am concerned, the quality declined. I might chalk it up to some artists should not produce their own albums, but I also leave room the real life gets in the way.
As to the song? Same as above. They've been so much better in the past. This feels more like a side or solo project done in the side room studio. Trevor's vocals are about the only nice thing. Everything else feels staid and uninspired. If you think it sounds like "Bleed it Out" , you're not alone. I'd give it a 5.5.
On a side note, I know "Puppet" is upcoming. Please for all that is holy, use the LIVE ( ruclips.net/video/OXVcc_ziXj0/видео.html ) version of that track. So much better live. TFK is VERY much a live band.
EDIT: Thinking about that time period (2013 - 2016 ish) there were many bands that change direction to varying degrees of success (Red (Release the Panic), Icon For Hire (Icon for Hire), Nine Lashes (Ascend), Fireflight (Innova)). I guess all part of the trend of the time. But have you heard Kutless lately? Back to metal, they are. Anyway. . .

I've recently been checking out Kutless. What songs do you recommend?

    • @dpwellman
      @dpwellman Год назад +1

@@kellydarrius So, their most popular tracks as you may be well aware are "Strong Tower" and "What Faith Can Do".
However, recent tracks "End of the Wold" and "Words of Fire" are very much worth a listen. There's supposed to maybe be an album later this year.

I’m a big fan of these guys but this definitely isn’t their best work. If you’re gonna include rap get someone who can actually rap. That was more like just listening to someone do some poetry. Not much rhythm to it. And yes besides the chorus pretty bland on the guitar work. That being said I always like when bands try to branch out and do something different but this just wasn’t it for them. They do put on a great live show though.
If you want a song that will get you back on the TFK train do “Courtesy Call”. Great vocals and guitar work. I think you would enjoy that one
