Majulah Singapura | Onward Singapore - Anthem of the City Council of Singapore

“Majulah Singapura” (English: “Onward Singapore”) was the former anthem for the City Council of Singapore. It was both composed and lyricised by Zubir Said in 1958. It was used briefly from 1958 to 1959.
Commissioned by the Deputy Mayor of the City Council, it took less than a year for Zubir Said to compose the song, citing the Malay proverb “Di mana bumi dipijak, di situ langit dijunjung” (English: “You should hold up the sky of the land where you live”). Upon completion, on 6 September 1958, it was first performed live by the Singapore Chamber Orchestra during the reopening celebrations of the Victoria Theatre. A year later, it was rearranged to be made as Singapore’s new national symbol alongside the flag and coat of arms following self-governance.

"மஜுலா சிங்கபுரா" என்பது சிங்கப்பூர் நகர சபையின் முன்னாள் கீதம். இது 1958 இல் ஜூபிர் சைட் என்பவரால் இயற்றப்பட்டது மற்றும் பாடல் எழுதப்பட்டது. இது 1958 முதல் 1959 வரை சுருக்கமாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டது.
சிட்டி கவுன்சிலின் துணை மேயரால் நியமிக்கப்பட்டு, "டி மன பூமி டிபிஜாக், டி சிட்டு லங்கிட் டிஜுன்ஜங்" என்ற மலாய் பழமொழியை மேற்கோள் காட்டி, ஜூபிர் சைட் பாடலை இயற்றுவதற்கு ஒரு வருடத்திற்கும் குறைவான நேரமே எடுத்தது. முடிந்ததும், 6 செப்டம்பர் 1958 அன்று, விக்டோரியா தியேட்டரின் மறு திறப்பு கொண்டாட்டத்தின் போது சிங்கப்பூர் சேம்பர் ஆர்கெஸ்ட்ராவால் முதன்முதலில் நேரடியாக நிகழ்த்தப்பட்டது. ஒரு வருடம் கழித்து, சுயராஜ்யத்தைத் தொடர்ந்து கொடி மற்றும் சின்னத்துடன் சிங்கப்பூரின் புதிய தேசிய சின்னமாக மாற்றப்பட்டது.

“Majulah Singapura” merupakan lagu rasmi Majlis Bandaraya Singapura (City Council of Singapore. Lagu ini digubah sepenuhnya oleh Zubir Said pada tahun 1958. Lagu ini digunakan pada masa yang singkat dari tahun 1958 hingga 1959.
Diamanahkan oleh Timbalan Datuk Bandar, Zubir Said telah mengambil masa kurang setahun untuk menggubah lagu ini dengan berasaskan pepatah Melayu “Di mana bumi dipijak, di situ langit dijunjung” . Setelah siap, pada 6 September 1958, lagu ini dipersembahkan buat pertama kali oleh Singapore Chamber Orchestra semasa sambutan pembukaan semula Victoria Theatre. Setahun kemudian, lagu ini disusun semula untuk dijadikan salah satu daripada simbol kebangsaan Singapura beserta bendera dan jata selepas diberikan pemerintahan sendiri.
