When I read about *Joseph Lofthouse* breeding self-trellising tomatoes, I knew that plant breeding was the solution to all problems. And everything I do revolves around growing without irrigation, so drought resistance is one of the major things I'm breeding for.
This is beautiful to witness. I'm amazed at how abundant your tomato plants were without any water...even the drier ones had plenty of fruit! Very important indeed...
Good Day sir Jon, Im Art from the Philippines I hope that you also make a Video about FISH thats great in sustainable living😊 Thank you for your all your Work! Im INSPIRED by your Videos and starting to apply some of your Technique,
That’s a very interesting experiment, it would be good to save the seeds like you said for next year to try again and see what happens 🙏 they are making it illegal to save seeds in some countries. I hope this doesn’t happen in Thailand. I will save seeds no matter what they say!
Thank You for this video. Your topsoil liooks very ashy... I'm curious what the soil is like beneathe.... What variety of tomato seed did you start with? It is obviously a cherry; which would help it to be more drought tolerant, and, were the seeds some you'd cultivated the year before; or are they available on the market? I am floored that your country is now becoming dry; when it was always known for plush, moist areas... That's what is happening because of all our tree loss from the fires world wide.... and, over growth of Human Habitation, into what use to be wilderness....God Bless you, Jon Jandai.
The soil here is like pure fine sand . The soil beneath about 1 meter is the same sand. I sew about 5 varieties of tomato together but only 1 of them grew up.
@@JonJandaiLifeisEasy You are so busy to be so kind to answer so quickly... Thank You. Jon; is it possible to do a soil analysis where you toms grew? I believe white sand is saltier, isn't it? Or, perhaps that area is an old volcanic bed.... which would make it a very good area for demanding tomatoes; and alike. I am also dilligently looking for ways to lessen the need for water irrigation... I know this issue will be more and more prevelant in the very near future... to the whole world... So, what you are doing and sharing is so very important.
Plants free of water deficit events more efficiently absorb available plant nutrients enabling plants to achieve their maximum genetic potential. SWRT membranes installed below plant root systems retain water where it falls, providing continuous delivery of drought-free periods up to 3 times longer than intensely irrigated control sands without root zone water retention membranes (Guber et al, 2016).
Question: Based on your video by title soil, you suggest to mulch the top part of the soil. So why you dont use same technique to develop soil in this video?
There is actually a way to make it certain that adequate rain falls no I'm not actually joking do you want to know what you need to do to make sure it never rains too little or too much?
You should keep seeds from the best four or five plants at least. You need genetic diversity. Harvesting from only one will weaken the strain over generations. That one plant could have had a water or nutrient pocket underneath it. Never save seeds from only one plant.
"They work for profit we work for life" what an amazing way to explain so much with just a few words. Great video!

We should each preserve our own seeds that way the plants are more suitable to each soil
All I can say is Wow, knowledge is powerful. Thank you

Thnx
Very nice thank you sir 🙏
Nice 🙂🙂
They work for profit, we work for lives.
Beautifull! What is the time of tomatoes? I will try to replicate some tipe here in my climate
In tropical the best time is the end of rainy season but in cold climate is after snow season.
@@JonJandaiLifeisEasy Thanks Jon! ;)

These area is very hard to find something for mulching and it is big land.
How did you plant these, it looks like to just threw them on to the dirt
Yes that was what I did.
@@JonJandaiLifeisEasy Thank you! I just watched your video about planting for the dry season. It helped me understand too.
How do you know that the healthy tomato plant didn't just get lucky to grow over a tappable water source underground?
because the whole area is the same .It was dry evenly.
There is actually a way to make it certain that adequate rain falls no I'm not actually joking do you want to know what you need to do to make sure it never rains too little or too much?
Baba(like grand father) ,we have land but we buy vegetable , we are depend On market for vegetable
doing it the right way
Long live jhon.....
How can I buy some of those seeds from you
We need more time to develop these kind but we never sell seeds . We give for free if you are in Thailand. wwwpunpunthailand.org.
Look in the description for book
I want to buy your tomato seeds if it is possible online delivery
Sorry we did not delivery overseas mainly we delivery for free in Thailand .
These 🍅 seeds were engineered that’s why they’re resisting the dry weather!
Won't you sell me some seeds,about 15 ?

Thanks for the advice.
