Bones are Awesome for compost. A little trick to do so you don't have bones in your compost heap is to burn them on a fire pit till they turn to ash. Then add the ash to your compost pile, that way your getting all the potash and calcium into your mix. Another Awesome vid!
Hey Jon & Peggy.. thanks again. Looking forward to the next video. Mr Jon your Ted talk literally changed my life I am forever grateful. I downloaded all of your youtube videos (eng). I listen to it every single day. . it keeps me grounded. I think you should make videos talking about your story + advises.. Thanks Peggy for all the amazing work you put in.
One tip: Egg shells dont break down in compost or soil will take decade if not more....easy way I learnt from korean natural farming is: crush them, then roast them, and mix with vinegar...this will make water soluble calcium that your plants and other microbes can micro life can enjoy.....Amazing inspiring video, thanks for motivating and teaching in such a sincere way (better to use the calcium as a spray when plants are fruiting rather then directly in soil, as too much calcium is not good...but if u have hard clay soil it will help loosen it up permanently)
Really great and informative !! I have my own compost bins : Worm and garden compost types ! I make anything compost and use in my garden !! (Of Course I have Videos on my channel) Great to see your videos !! Thank you for sharing !!
my greatest dream in life is to have a simple way of living away from the city.after watching your video in Tedx talks i start sharing your story to a lot of people and i start creating my own simple way of living. please sharing more video about gardening and planting organics i keep following your video and keep sharing your story to others.
With your compost You can do a compost tea In a bucket put 2 hand full of compost add 1-2 liters of rain water plus sugar and let sit about 10 days After 10 days keep just the tea and 10 ml of compost tea for 1liter water is good to feed the garden....free and organic
I am from India we dry peel of fruits and vegetables more longer then we add rippen yogurt into it and we cover it and kept in shades it takes more time.
Thank you for this video. We love gardening but here in Chicago you only have 3 months. Can someone help me on the following questions ? Is compost the same as the soil needed for the flower plants ? Dry leaves can be grind and used as soil ? Compost can stay ok in the winter time ?
This compost we made in Loveland CO. We have about the same time of growing. Compost is similar or better than the soil for the flower plants . It depend on what you put in the compost if we put more different kind of leaves we will get better compost. Dry or wet leaves can use for compost and it is ok in the winter.
The only thing we cannot compost in our house is plastic bag...garbage truck collects garbage trash in our village once a week, they only collect garbage trash from our house once a month...we compost anything organic, some veggie scraps and peels we put to our worm bin...some go to compost bin...nothing is thrown and go to waste.
I can't use my compost without cooking in fire because insects are lots living. I'm afraid they will harm my plants. Aphids & black ants too are my problems.

The compost should be kept under sunlight or in shade?
Dear sir, could you please post a video on the importance of cow dung in composting and overall farming?
I make a great rich compost without any animal products. It is just plant food scraps, leaves, and a few grass clippings.

Hi Jon. I love your videos, keep making them! Question: what is the purpose of the black pipe with holes in the middle of compost bin?
Breathing for compost. Otherwise it will smell.
Hello Jon...
Good learning.
In India we mix cattle poop and urine too.
The way you compost is so simple. I'm doing bokashi composting. Hv to make bokashi bran + the em. Im going to change to this. Tqsm.
How's it going now? Easier?
Thank you nice.. video sir
ตั้งแต่ดูคลิบพี่โจนมา
ผมฟังภาษาอังกฤษเข้าใจเลย
Hello Khru, do you have any issues with flies?
If we cover the wet part with dry leaves or straw thick enough there is no flies problem.
@@JonJandaiLifeisEasy Thank you 🙏
Do we need to cover it from the rain?
It will be better to cover the compost. If it is too wet it will not decompose and bad smell.
@@JonJandaiLifeisEasy yes, i will. Thank you, Sir
life is easy the true way.
Can you grow your own rice? Is it possible to do in a garden?
Yes, especially the upland type of rice. They need very little water. In South East Asia like Malaysia & Indonesia we call it 'padi huma'.
Can you sprinkle ash?
Is it necessary to put manure?
