There's still a chance Rex could make it. Sure, they unveiled XC2 around January, 2017. So it's possible that they could have gotten the concept art for Rex in 2016. On top of that, Greninja appeared in Smash 4. Apparently, they added Greninja back when he was just concept art, since the game was still being made. So... it's possible. But... Elma would be alright. Worst case scenario... Rex winds up as an Echo fighter.

So basically the Archsage Nopon is breaking the 4th wall when saying "everyone" wanted this to happen. Nicely done Monolith. Also the fact that you fight Elma and her boss fight is very interesting. Though I think she has moves that you missed. Like Ghost Factory where she makes copies of herself. And you have to beat the clones as well.
I was actually surprised that she never used Ghost Factory in this run. She almost always used it against me after I took about a third of her health. Cost me more than one attempt with the sudden damage hike.
Late in the conversation, but she's going toe-to-toe with three other pretty powerful people, including the Aegis Driver, without any special powers like that of her own and if Cross can take down tyrants alone, Elma probably can too. Which suggests that BLADE's are pretty powerful. Guess Mimeosomes (which is the form she's using) are a really, really good piece of tech.
@lozm4835 I mean Elma is considered the best skell pilot in lore besides the MC. and even then it's close. I wouldn't be surprised if she could beat rex with both pyra and Mythra by herself

The weird thing is, I was kind of salty at first when they announced Xenoblade 2, but at this point, I would actually rather they do some adjustments to 'X' if they port it to Switch. Because, it does have SOME issues here and there, but I did sink over 160+ hours into 'X'. And I've officially eclipsed that in 2. So, they're both great games, in their own right.

I honestly had more trouble with Elma than any other monster or antagonist in the Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2 series. I remembered it took me quite a lot of tries to the point where I had to quit for a bit because I was frustrated from losing too often 😂
For obvious reasons they can't bring Cross since he/she is a customized character and silent protagonist. And lets be real here. Had the Archsage brought Cross over, Rex and co would have never won lol. No doubt Cross would be rocking Ether longsword with Twin sub machine guns for that infinite overdrive ghost walker.

It would be nice if chips caused Elma’s katanas to change into other versions from X. I would love to see her wield Candid and Credible’s swords and guns here! (They’d match the world aesthetically, too.)

In spite of it all, I can't help but think the best part of seeing all these cutscenes and conversations is watching Poppi constantly try and fly. Seriously, look back at some the cutscences and background event, and you will see Poppi constantly move her arms up and down like she is trying to fly or something.

She's also done additional voices for a number of animated films, and doesn't do much anime these days. She hasn't disappeared, she's just part of the Union SAG/AFTRA now, and that's kind of a noteworthy factor into why she couldn't return as KOS-MOS in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
