Did you know that Mannfred is one of the only characters to survive fighting Gotrek & Felix? Though it was narrow as he got his arm chopped off and fell into a river "Lion King" style.

I used to dislike Mannfred. After reading the Von Carstein trilogy, I have more respect for him.
Great video, best yet. Definetly the character I look forward to playing the most out of the whole warhammer world (2nd only to nagash if they ever release him). But you summed mannfred up perfectly, great job.

Vlad is my favourite character in the whole series. This guy though... I don't like him, and this comes from someone who likes the cunning backstabbing type.

Everyone always passes over how the Lady of the Lake is a manipulation by the Elves, I would love to hear more about this.

The Grail Knights of Bretonnia used to recieve their power from the "Lady of the Lake" / Lillith the elven god - she used them as a buffer and wall basically for her elven children so they can have more protection.
She planned on making a afterlife for these grail knights and her own elves, but it got destroyed by a "Black Knight" who found out her deception and was PISSED so that bretonnias end time villian as well as a shit ton of undead

The running theme with these stories from GW seems to be years worth of accumulated, well thought out and interesting lore, battles and scheming, then these End Times segments start and the lore seems to immediately devolve into some kind of wild, low quality fanfic.

Mannfred was pretty cool until he impaled Balthasar. I mean he's evil that's obvious; but he's intelligent too! What does he have to gain if the world ends? That action was out of character.
Yip...dat was FUCKED up...but Nagash should easly replace Gelt.
It was out of spite. Mannfred realized that if Chaos won, he'd be stuck forever as their slave, if the Incarnates won, he'd be stuck as Nagash's slave. Bear in mind, the Chaos Gods didn't want to destroy the world, they wanted to rule it, blowing it up was Archaon's way of telling them 'screw you'. So Mannfred chose to die his own man than live as Chaos or Nagash's pet.
@@WadcaWymiaru Nagash was already helping Teclis with managing the 6 other Winds, Gelt was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
He was petty so it actually fit his character. Plus he was like if these guys win, nagash is going to make me his bitch. If chaos wins then I'm there bitch but if archeon who was going to end the world wins then the other two choices don't apply so he choose that and went out on his own terms.

This guy is exactly the same ass in the game like he us in the lore, I've made some kind of pact with him, we were the best of friends and as soon as I was cornered by two chaos armies he just declared war on me, so now I had to deal with the ever chosen, the lord if change and von carstein, luckily I raped all three armies and then got my goblin shaman to finish Manfred in a duel, quite a humiliating way to go and then I renamed the shaman to "killer of Manfred von carstein", so that the rest of the world knows to who Manfred died and then I proceeded to eradicate all the life in the game

So if Mannfred is ultimately killed by being incinerated by Tyrion’s Sunfang, how does he come back in Age of Sigmar?
Nahash made him, Neferatta, and two other vampires too be his Mortarchs - one of these four became the first Ghoul King of the FEC.
So probably just resurrection, but idk we are fully told how they return.

People side with Chaos because that's how the story was written, and also...because Chaos. There's this odd trope especially in fantasy where the ultimate evil wants everything to end, not even to remake it, just so there's nothing. I've always wondered what individuals or entities that think that way would actually do once they were all that was left, because if they wanted to stay all alone all they would have had to do is stay in whatever void they came from.
@@Greshgore well like you said... its chaos, these warriors are so high with power and devout following mainly due to the chaos powers.
Also they had a greeeat time after the End Times - Archaeon lead his chaos bands across different realms and destroyed all of them - the realms of Age Of Sigmar are his current attempt at conquest

Hey man. I am happy for your Videos. It has been ages ago since you uploaded this one, but still some Feedback. It is hard to find some full lore Videos (1h+ at least) and the Videos you made are dull. I like listening to them while playing any warhammer games even though I don't need to pay attention to any warhammer games anymore, I am not remembering what you explained 5 mins ago.

Did you read the books or just watched this video. The video skims over some stuff but I'm fairly confident that the books have a conclusion.

Great video. So even though a vampire is stronger, and more agile than a human. Mannfred also has his magical armour. Karl Franz is still a better figher? Guess I'll watch your Karl Franz remastered video.
Well, being stronger and faster doesn't inherintly make someone a better fighter. For example, if Franz and Mannfred were to trade unnarmed blows with each other with no magical items to aid them, I'm possitive Mannfred would beat the Emperor to a bloody pulp by virtue of his supernatural strength and speed, and his endless stamina (comes with the whole undead thing). However, in a contest of arms, things change: Mannfred likes to rely on spells so he never actually seeks close-combat (unless he is absolutely sure he wins instantly) and the Emperor wields powerful magical items that put Mannfred's Sword of Unholy Power to shame. Also I think Mannfred wouldn't even bother training his combat skills. His specialty lies in magic and scheming, not in strength of arms.
Where does all this lore come from?

He can save the world and instead intentionally doesn’t and causes the end of the world just to die himself, or be tormented by chaos?
I feel like the author maybe just didn’t want a good ending and was like vampire bad guy he do bad thing
If chaos or the forces of order won than he would lose. He wanted to go out on his terms so he chose to help archeon by letting the lord of the end times destroy the world.
Keep this in mind that the chaos gods did not want to blow up the world, that was purely archeon who was playing them to help him achieve that goal. Mannfred realized that it was better for him if the world ended that way he wouldn't have to deal with nagash if the forces of order won or be a slave to chaos if they won. Plus his character was petty and selfish so it makes sense to me

If you haven't found them yet, Wikipedia or The Black Library (GW's book section) will have them all
Mannfred von Carstein is back in Age of Sigmar though. He's a captive being tortured by followers of Khorne and gets rescued and guides the Stormcasts of Sigmar to find Nagash or something. Look for Age of Sigmar audio drama, Prisoner of the Black Sun.

Steffan Green the main disadvantage with grimgore is he cannot fly, or ride a creature that can fly, this might not seem to matter until you remember that the wood elves have flying archer lords/ladies.

Though Sylvania seems an uninspired form of Transylvania, when I first encountered it in TW Warhammer, I actually expected it to be an elven territory, cause the name reminded me of Silvan Elves.

People like to say the end times was poorly written and the actions of some characters don't make sense and granted some of it is true but I think mannfred essential being so bitter and petty that he essential caused the forces of good to lose fits his character. He was a scheming petty coward from the start to the end
