@@ElinorMahoney Because it's a rare occurrence of an interaction between Rory and the Doctor that isn't centered about Amy. It's honestly a shame, Rory is one of my favorite companion but he has so few moments with the Doctor that aren't them talking about Amy.

I’ve realised Rory, as a character, really complimented the doctor.
The Doctor needs people that will call them on their bullshit. For 9 that was Rose . For 10 that was Donna (and Rose a bit but I honestly think she let 10 get away with things that she would have called 9 out for). And for 11 that was Rory.

@@turbulent_error9302 not for the 9th Doctor. Mickey and 9 didn't really have many moments, and I don't think 9 thought highly enough of him to listen to him until the end of WW III and Boomtown. I can see Mickey being that a bit for 10 but he didn't really travel with them that long so he didn't have many opportunities.
Don't get me wrong, I adore Mickey. I just think he, like Martha, was better without the Doctor than with him.

I may be wrong, but Thirteen was the one calling her companions out instead of them (well, Graham may have called her out sometimes), Thirteen called out Ryan in Villa Diodati for allowing Percy Shelley to die, and called out Graham for seeking vengeance against Tzim-Sha for Grace to remind him he's better than him.
I may be wrong about Thirteen, but i think im right.

Honestly, Rory is so underrated. He's a normal bloke compared to most of the companions, and then goes on to be one of the most badass. He dies 10 times, He gets erased from existence, becomes plastic, he waits 2000 years for the woman he loves and manages to keep his sanity intact, he plays an active role in rebooting the universe, and on top of all that he puts up with Amy.
Not bad for a bloke from Leadworth.
Rory was one of the few to really call out the Doctor...several times, Even in vampires of Venice, he was very clear the Dr was dangerous.
I suppose it was like Mickey with Rose. The Doctor brought them on before for Amy, for Rose. They were growing too attached to the TARDIS life and him - he brought something aboard to keep them grounded to home life, as it were. He wouldn't have originally chosen them, but they grew on him. They could see who and what the Doctor is, rather than the rose-tinted version that most of his companions see.

The Ponds were the best companions. Even more so since they were The Doctor's in-laws. They acted exactly like Family. The mother in-law that found him slightly more attracting then she should of and the father-law that was just always fed up with The Doctor's BS but somehow loved him anyways.
