WCW vs The World was given to me as a christmas gift when I was younger, being the total wrestling nerd that I was. Other gifts I got that Christmas morning were WWF In Your House and Power Move Pro Wrestling, but for some reason I was drawn to the WCW title more than the others.
Years later and I now have a deeper appreciation for the excellent and star filled roster. Of course, the names have been changed to avoid licensing issues, but WCW vs The World features wrestlers from other promotions such as NJPW, FMW, Pancrase and much more. What we have here is a game that flies under the radar as a dream match machine. Megastars of wrestling such as The Great Muta, Stan Hansen, Bruiser Brody and Tiger Mask are all featured here, including WCW legends such as Ric Flair, Sting, The Steiner Brothers and Hulk Hogan.
This video takes a look at the extensive roster featured in WCW vs The World, the very first AKI wrestling game, and my own nostalgic recollections of playing this title when I was younger.

First wrestling game i owned. Loved it
I had a lot of fun with this game growing up. It feels like the "forgotten" THQ wrestling game since they improved up on this tenfold by World Tour, Revenge, and the WWF games.
Got this game when it first came out. Was in the Air Force then couldn't tell you how many hours a bunch of us in our building spent playing this game. We had tournaments galore.

This game changed my life as a kid. The first true wrestling game. The Aki engine allows so much freedom and creativity to put on amazing wrestling matches.
My cousin and I use to play the hell out of this and when he would go to work, I'll take his copy and start playing it on my own. Very underrated wrestling game as it was the beginning of awesome gameplay mechanics that brought over to the N64 games such as WCW vs. NWO, WCW/NWO Revenge, and with the WWF games. WCW/NWO Revenge is my favorite wrestling game of all time but this one had an incredible roster. Still a great wrestling game too.

Being a kid with a Playstation and Warzone and then having a friend with an N64 get World Tour and Revenge was a sad and common feeling.
I felt this game was ahead of its time back when it released...the animations were really good also.

I got this for Christmas one year when I was 14. Loved it! Played it the entire Christmas and new year season. Great memories. Makes me feel old now.
As a kid back then, that game was my life! I bought a PS1 just for this game and to me it was incredible to have that many wrestlers in one game (I was used to having 12 wrestlers on the snes lol). A true classic! ✌👍

W C W REVENGE is the best wrestling game ever
This was the first WCW game I ever bought. I still remember buying it on Christmas Eve at an electronics store in mid-Ireland when I was 11. I enjoyed it. Most of the wrestlers were alien to me because we really only got WWF on our TV screens until TNT brought WCW to our screens when Cartoon Network finished on a Friday evening. Going on memory here but I think Nitro was shown 2 weeks behind the USA for some reason. I was surprised when you mentioned Ken Shamrock was in this game as I don't remember that at all.

This game and Power Move were the first 2 games I had for my Ps1.Played both for hours, I remember doing league tourneys with my friend. Great memories
You should make a video about the "MDickie"-wrestling games. Those were great.
