After WrestleMania "The Arcade Game" got some decent reviews, it was decided that a sequel would get made in the same style. Midway, the developers of WrestleMania, would not be involved in the sequel. Instead, Sculptured Software, a development company under the Acclaim umbrella, would get the oppurtunity to develop WWF In Your House.
Fans were eager for a new WWF game in 1996 but it appeared that Acclaim were not ready to deliver a full 3D wrestling title just yet. The PlayStation and Sega Saturn, while primitive, were capable of rendering 3D graphics and this was something that gamers of this time wanted to see. In Your House then, upon release, already looked slightly dated. It shouldn't matter though, a good game doesn't need to look spectacular in order to be playable, something that was already proven with the popular WrestleMania Arcade Game. If In Your House could keep the formula and add updates, it would probably have been well received, but it didn't.
This video from Wrestling Bios takes a look at WWF In Your House from 1996.

Random fact: If you put the Saturn version in a CD player, it's plays all the entrance music from every wrestler. Me and my friends used them for our trampoline wrestling growing up lol. We felt big time.
PC version as well
Lol
Funny story. WWF Warzone had just come out. So for my birthday in 1998, I told my Grandmother (Godbless her soul) that I wanted WWF Warzone. I guess all she heard was "WWF". So on my birthday she gave me a wrapped up square that looked like a playstation game. I was SOOOOOO excited. I thought I was going to open the wrapper and see Stone Cold Steve Austin on the cover....but in reality I opened the wrapper and saw Bret Hart, Vader, and Shawn Michaels diving onto a small house...🤦🏾♂️ I still played it all night tho lol
Awesome and sorry about your grandmother
I have a similar story. I asked for Final Fantasy IX but got VIII instead. I had two copies for like a week lol
Lol the same thing happened to me but with my mom.
Same thing happen to me with my dad ask for war zone got in your house but still enjoy playing it
So I wasn't the only one! 😅
This was really Acclaim giving Midway another slap in the face after also stabbing them in the back over the NBA JAM license.
Am I really the only fan of the Channel Awesome Hunger Games winner here? Hello, you!
I loved this game. I beat it with every wrestler just to see their highlight video at the end. The small rewards we got back then.
i rember playing in your house on my brother's ps 😃😃 it was bigger than the other westlering games smackdown
For 20 plus years, I had no idea of this game's existence, even though I was watching back then! It's release was definitely kept quiet!
WrestleMania the arcade game made my 1995 Christmas the best ever!
The best part of this game, was the options screen with the music selection. For Ultimate Warriors music
Same for me
The powerups were good because it was a callback to the first WWF Wrestlemania game on NES. Each one represented fan support to give the wrestler health and momentum.
You gotta cover wrestlemania 2000 on N64! That game was amazing.
I just played that game the other day testing out my 3 N64s 🤣
If Jeff Jarrett had stayed in the company wwf man I can imagine what Jeff Jarret would have looked like if he was in this game. His weapon would probably be smashing people over the head with guitars LOL
@@christophernicholson20 ON Gawd I can See it Already before my very Eyes
I agree. He should also do videos on The Smackdown game series on PlayStation.

Power Move Pro Wrestling was one of the best games. All it needed was a tag team mode. But, I loved it and played it constantly.
Yes. I remember first seeing it, in a "Gamepro" magazine I had at the time. And when they showed these two jokers, that resembled Hawk and Animal, as well as another joker, that resembled The Great Muta. I was hooked. It didn't quite love up to my expectations to what I thought it would be in that "Gamepro" magazine issue.. but it still was a solid game.
I love Power Move! I still have a copy to this day! 😎🤘 That game was awesome..... especially loved how impactful some of the moves were!
Sunny? Sunny? I have never in my life saw this at all. I’d love to know if she was maybe a secret “tips” person in the vain of reptile from MK1. I’m intrigued
I remember it from 1996, but no one ever talks about it. Either Gamepro or EGM showed a photo of her on that swing thing and said she'd be in the game. They also said you could fight the GHOST OF ANDRE THE GIANT as a secret boss. I'm not joking.
You're a machine dude. Much appreciated. Merry Christmas!!
Easily the best Wrestling channel. You do wonderful work!
Agreed!!!
WWF meets Mortal Kombat
Could have said it any better
Facts😂
All Stars was awesome! A great change to the standard wrestling stuff that was around.
All stars is a really fun game, I wish they made more like that one. but being a 40 year old, I'm oldschool and want a game with only the characters from the 80's and 90's. who knows if ill ever get to see that.
Get legends of wrestlemania for ps3.
This was my first wrestling game when I was little i really liked it this game, WrestleMania Arcade was good too.
Bring me back love the bio's on the games 👍👍💥
Asked my mam for WWF Warzone, Christmas 99. Opened the wrapper and this came out. "They didn't have it, but the guy said this is just as good" 😐
Damn
@Business Straight business Of course he fuckin lied. My initial reaction was, 'Yeah mam, he defo saw you coming!'
Sounds just like something a mom would say 😂
Well, Warzone also was not a good game. Between the two, I’d rather play this one. The best wrestling game to buy in Christmas of 99 were Wrestlemania 2000 or WCW Revenge.
They had bits and pieces of this style in the DLCs for WWE 2K20. Bump in the Night and South Paw and the others. They had custom sets for Taker and 80's night clubs with bands in the background on stage. IIRC.
Me and my mate used to go to his neighbours house and play this for literally hours and hours on end. Winner stays on. Great memories
Given Hall and Nash were still in the company I'm surprised they weren't originally in the game, but maybe they had given their notice by then
They was on the way out before the game was released
The WWF product and presentation was so good back then. I wish we got WWF No Mercy in 1996 but with the presentation and roster that this game had.
Imagine if Sunny made her "Video" in 1997 Kreygasm
This isn't twitch.
Your awesome to listen too. The nostalgia you have is very similar to mine. Appreciate your hard work
Fun fact: The theme to this game was made by Jon Oliva of SavaTage, he did the main vocal on the theme (that was used for the intro to RAW}, he went into the studio and the wrestlers did the backing vocal and he was amused by the fact he, a larger than life rock singer, was in this room with these giant wrestlers and was just awed by these giants.
This guy it's so good.... It got me seeing a wrestling game review... From a game from ages ago. This channel is gold! Keep up my friend!
Surely they’d have captured images of diesel and razor if it was pre WM12 and Jarrett was still there..
Best thing about this game on PS1 was being able to listen to real entrance music
I remember Sunny was suppose to hover over the ring before/during a match and blow a kiss as a distraction. I saw this in a GamePro magazine I still have.
Which issue of Game Pro is this?
Cool, I was wondering how she would fit into this type of game. Sounds like a cool idea, but they probably decided it didn't make enough sense.
@@wonder-games3579 I think it was issue 98 or one leading to it. 98 was its review issue but I recall the article reporting more on the behind the scenes stuff.
Bit of a correction. Wrestlemania Arcade also had the taunt buff, though if I recall correctly it was once per match instead of per round. It was also done slightly differently. You held down block and did a 360 motion.
Still better than 2k20
Lmaoo I agree
The NES games are better than 2K20
@@Elkott we all know the nes version was not great but I completely agree
@@Elkott hell I got this game on my cell phone called Wrestling Revolution, that game is better no glitches, it got Chris Benoit and Owen Hart. Only thing is they don't use their wrestling names cause of copy rights. I'll even say WCW Monday Nitro, WCW Thunder and Legends of Wrestling 1 and 2 are better than 2K20 lol.
Facts lol
old sunny heard shes a spud, can remember renting this out of extra vision back in the day
Memories!
:&D
Imagine being me as a teenager. You want a Playstation, so your parents buy you one, with Porsche Challenge as the pack in game. So you trade in your Megadrive and all the Sonic games for two Playstation games... In Your House and 3D Lemmings.
Noticed the sprites in game of ALL the wrestlers look a LOT worse vs the arcade Wrestlemania sprites. Wonder why they even did this? It was possible to have near that quality on ps1/etc. I guess to speed up loading time?
It's won't be a case that they didn't want to but they couldn't fit it onto the disc or some other technical reason.
Team Rocket HQ I bet mugen players and editors would mashup the game and make new arenas lol
@@deniscore8270 That doesn't make a whole lot of sense when the Sega Saturn was the 2D arcade port powerhouse of that era, using a CD-ROM medium. The Neo-Geo on the other hand still used cartridges, that contributed to its high cost.
As for why In Your House looked so bland and in ways, smudgy, compared to Wrestlemania... Sculptured Software. They ported Wrestlemania Arcade but they already had something to work with: Midway's digitized sprites.
Sadly this is one wrestling game i missed out on! :(
Never too late.
Same here.I was an N64 kid, didn't have a PS1 until the 2000's.
You make the best wrestling videos!!! I love tuning in everyday
memeriors me and the fam used to play this jawn back in the day
Full Metal 1.5, as I call it. All it was good for was playing in a CD player.
Im loving these old school gaming vids your making you must of had a great childhood my friend. Would you ever consdider doing a vid about your wrestling video/DVD and full games collection cos I can imagine it will blow peoples minds. Just a thought mate. I think it would make a great vid. Merry Xmas n all the best for 2020. Your silver You Tube plaque will definately be in the post next year. Its a fkn travisty it hasn't happened already. Keep up your tireless hard work which you are known for pal
I remember renting this for a weekend to play with some friends. After that we just went back to renting random ppvs from years gone by instead
I have fond memories of this. The Ultimate Warrior has always been one of my favorite wrestlers so I'm fond of any of the games that include him.
I remember playing the Superstars and Wrestlefest arcade games a lot when I was a kid, are there any plans to make videos for them?
I also got this as a birthday gift. Seems like nobody here willingly purchased this game lol
Lol
Lol
I brought wwe in your house on the ps1 and it was my first wrestling game on that console i loved playing as the undertaker🤼♀️🇬🇧
I remember renting this game in 1998 and being soooooo disappointed with it.🤦♂️
I rented in 97 and was so disappointed.
I was disappointed also. I thought Stone cold steve Austin, The Rock Mankind and or Kane were going to be in this game
I was bitter, I was expecting more wrestlemania: the arcade game quality and it felt like a generic knock-off
@@gregorylove6841 That's what it definitely felt like
Great Googley Moogley I had this on the saturn because of wrestlemania the arcade game I swapped it by the end of the week
WWF In Your House
WWF Attitude
WWF Warzone
Was epic back in the days
Back then I thought Attitude was da greatest game till No Mercy came out da rest is history
None of those games were very good. WCW had by far the best wrestling games at that point in time with WCW Revenge on the N64.
WrestleMania The Arcade Game is still one of my favorite wrestling/fighting games of all time.
Got this game, I bet I've played about 1 hour of it in 20 years
You ever want to sell it let me know been looking for this for a whileb
Ebay has copies pretty cheap
@@khanthevideogamehunter2946 it's super cheap online or old school game shops. Paid like 5 for mine
I tried to sweet chin music everything on this game!
Izzy I was shapershooter everything On the gaMe
Fun fact: in WWF: In Your House, you can turn the power-ups on and off.
Thanks, that is fun
Bios: "It can't get any worse that it is now."
2K: Hold my Urn
I absolutely loved this game back in the day. It was a good button basher to play with mates on a Friday night.
One of the greatest pay per view extravaganzas(the real event) all time and a personal fav of mine
I remember buying this for my sega Saturn. I played the life outta it. Never had wwf wrestle mania the arcade game for it tho
I did I had lots of fun playing that Wrestlemania game
Did you try playing it in a CD player? :3
Sal Divita from Midway worked on both Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game and WWE All Stars. He was on the Midway team that made TNA Impact and when Midway went out of business THQ bought the studio that made Impact. They also used the submission mini game in one of the Smackdown vs. Raw games. All Stars is on the same engine and refuses many assets from Impact. They Tokyo Dome crowd noise in WWE 2K19 is from the Japan arena in TNA Impact. 616 Entertainment talked about it. I hated all those games. Give me No Mercy or give me nothing.
This was a great game... Even had Owen Hart
This was my first wrestling game
Still have wrestlemania the arcade game! Need this too
Yes you nailed it NBA jam mortal kombat hybrid.
The one question I was looking for during this whole video was Davey boy smith's chin lock combo
go RUclips : are you a good person . The author of this video is Living Waters.
I had this on sega Saturn I have to have it back
Who else remembers their mother telling them that they cant get a game because it was Dos and you had windows 95?!? Was my mother just full of it?
One of my favorite wrestling games of all time I loved this game hours upon hours of fun I think I would even enjoy it today.
If you put up a video entitled "me dancing naked with a pickle watching Repo Man vs Vinnie Vegas" I would still click on and like just because it's wrestling bios 😂😂😂. I don't even play video games but great vid as always. Although when you first showed the logos I thought it was Owen Hart letting out a red death fart! LOL
Lol same. I think that this channel while underrated, it does his research very well not to mention the transitions between parts is quite smooth.
Agreed. Even if it's a subject that I'm very familiar with, I really enjoy and appreciate the work that's gone into these videos. 👍
Why dont you play videogames? You missing out A LOT.
@@promisnwekenta9703 I used to play but after high school I just kind of grew out of it. I like going to arcades from time to time on dates but that's about it. A 40 year old woman playing video games is a rare sight
@@breezy9297 oh, i cant imagine a live without video games in some form, on mobile, vr (it has bright future) or good old computer. But im fairly young so......
Well it seems you have a good taste on videos, looking at your comment.
Played it on the Saturn. Went back to Wrestlelamia the next day lol
Had it mostly for the soundtrack. LoL
No Mercy is da greatest wrestling game of all time hands down next to Smackdown 2!
i played that game so much i swear i did Owen Hart butterfly suplex billions of times,i wish they would make a remake like this game /wrestlemania arcade but with today's wrestlers that would be dope.
Very enjoyable review and I hope you make more !
Had to watch this 1 after seeing your new Wrestlemania video. When I saw Sunny there I thought hmm I bet Vince sent Sunny just to make the boys happy at Acclaim lol
I have this game, i like it more than Wrestlemania the arcade game. More obscure wrestlers in it!
I ran through everybody on this game with the Warrior!
I collect vide game on my channel and I have been wanting to buy in your house but no store ever has it. On the 3 ds wwe all stars is my favorite game. Can you do a video on that as well.
I still remember this was when my friend had a playstation, and I did not. It looked SO Cool compared to our SNES Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game versions, and even tho my friend got the PS1 with that game as well before this one, we thought this one was like, peak and pinnacle performance, because at the time, it really was.
Great review, great upload. It would be cool 😎 if you could possibly do a review of Royal Rumble for Sega Genesis. Absolutely legendary game when I was a child. I consider it a tie in terms of fun factor with WCw vs nwo revenge for its time.
R.i.p ultimate warrior owen hart vader and davy smith British bulldog
After watching this vid, and being a former owner of both In Your House and WM, there’s not at all much difference from either that you explained here. Both were fun as hell for the time and weren’t that far apart from either other
WCW VS THE WORLD that came out around the same time on PS1 was much better m
The taunt system was In the first game also with 50x more damage
OMG I HAD THIS GAME!!!! I remember my friend and I were playing and if you played as Vader, when you climbed the turnbuckle he would like bend over and his rear-end would bounce up and down non stop, and I laughed so hard I peed my pants! My friend and I couldn’t stop laughing!!!
The superstar graphic looks realistic
I actually liked this game I got it for Christmas in 96 along with the PS1 and Tekken 2 I asked for WMTAG but my couldn’t find it but found this instead but hell I didn’t complain I got this Tekken 2 and the PS1 so I was happy AF!!!🤣🤣
Best part of this game was that the music files were available to use. So you could scroll through and use the entrance with your figures.
this and mk trilogy was the main reason i bought a ps1
Best youtuber on the planet
Hand down I agree he rocks
Never really understood why the graphics were so poor for this game
My first wrestling game 💪🏾
I still have IYH and WM the arcade game on ps1 till this day I play them on my PS3 when I dust it off every now and then WrestleMania I play atleast once a year it's one of my favorite games of all time when I got IYH in 96' I thought it was cool I was just happy that it had an updated version of HBK on it cuz when WrestleMania came out he actually looked like IYH Shawn Micheals in real life but he had his 93' attire so when this came out I was happy then like you said the bell rang and the gameplay happen and even then my 12 yr old brain was like damn this ain't the same why does it feel worse😆 I still played it for the roster though but yeah WM arcade was head and shoulders better but hey we didn't have many options so it is what it is 🤷🏾♂️
Oof...so I bought this game a few years ago locally from a retro game store. I have WrestleMania for my Playstation and ALWAYS wanted to play the In Your House game. Anyway I got it home and was IMMEIDIATELY disappointed. I had the game for 2 days before I brought it back. Basically everything you said here was how I felt playing this train wreck. I'll just stick to playing my silent version of WrestleMania The Arcade Game on PS1 with no BGM.
I remember thinking this was similar to Warzone but with a 1996 vibe. I was gonna buy it in 2001 until I did a little research.
My homie and I played this game every single day after school in 1996
I remember in EGM magazine they made a bs claim that the ghost of Andre The Giant was a hidden character in this game
This was one of my favorites when I was a kid
Man I've been saying for the longest time that WWE needs to release a Fun Arcade style game. Been way too long
Was that what Battlegrounds was supposed to be?
@@autobotstarscream765 I'm not familiar with that so I have no idea
Best ps one wrestling game was wwf warzone ( didn't like when no specific storylines happened when got to top of ranking as wwf champion, because it had the same cut scenes as the challenger just different wrestler challenging you for wwf Championship title) or smackdown know your role (didn't like the loading times, took far too look for short cut scenes), but i also enjoyed wwf attitude aswell and loved wwf no mercy for Nintendo 64. Never played WWF in your house and WWF wrestlemania though. I also remember playing a wwf game on sega mega drive which had hulk hogan , ted dibiasie , papa shango , shawn michaels etc can't remember what that was called though.
I remember when I was a kid, asking for the wwf game for PlayStation and I got this. Man was this game terrible. I wanted Attitude, guess I should of been more specific 😂🤣.
I got this game for the PS1....my 1st time playing it was on saturn after I played Wrestmania the Arcade game on Snes Just imagine this game getting a HD Remake for next gen.....i seriously think it would dope as hell
@5:36, when you said returning superstars from past games. Which games do you mean? If it's Wrestle Mania, then that would make only Shawn Michaels, Bret Heart and Undertaker to be the returning wrestlers. Ultimate Warrior, Owen Heart and British Bulldog were not in the previous game.
Arcade game
I love this channel ...Thank You for this video !!!
In your house was fun when i was a kid i played it with my brother and cousins for hours in daily bases.
