This game holds one of me an my father's best memories. I had a caw character that was basically unbeaten an unstoppable. He had the title an my dad challenged me to a tlc match with Batista . I was about to grab the belt when he knocked me off the ladder an my wrestler fell off the ladder an outside the ring on to a table an was basically killed. After a furious amount of button mashing I made it back into the ring but right when I grabbed at the ladder dad had gotten the title. He had beaten me an my wrestler. then just to rub it in my father refused to give me rematch for days an picked on me as much a possible. The last WWE game on GC, the last game released in the US with the remnants of the AKI engine, and agruably the best in those categories. Hundreds of hours I've sunk into this, and it's still fun today
Also the only game with a fatal four way last man standing match (besides wrestling empire). Also, Shout-out to Tunsuki's CAW-a-bunga! This was my childhood in the mid 2000's. Spent so many hours after school playing this legendary game Thanks for doing a video on this man, I really appreciate it!
11:12 Glad you mentioned this. It drives me crazy how no wwe game since this one has had proper hit detection. They claim to be simulations, yet half the time you're throwing punches which clip through wrestlers while they're doing certain moves, or you'll try and put someone through a table and the freakin' table moves. lol A wrestling game with HCTP's freedom, DOR's engine, and SVR's features would be a dream come true for me.
When I think of walk animations in this era I always think of Tazz on Tough Enough when he played one of the video games for the first time with the contestants. He picked himself to play and upon seeing his entrance was like "Why am I walking like I got a rod up my ass?" "The PS2 outsold the Gamecube in North America and Europe." That's putting it mildly.

Though I own the second, never playd much of it, but played the hell out of the first one. During the Raw storyline where you face HHH at the end in an Iron Man match, he would counter EVERYTHING no matter what. The screen always flashes when a counter is done. After so many tries, I got so pissed off, that I turned the game off, disconnected everything from the console, and then chucked my GameCube across the room. I look back on it and laugh as I very calmly disconnected the controller, memory card, A/V cables and power brick, then just throwing the console at the wall in an absolute fit of rage. After calming down, I tried again, and this time I pinned Hunter only a couple of minutes into the match, and then literally just ran outside around the ring for half an hour (in real time). I finally beat him 1-0.
Freakin love this game. Damn shame it doesn’t get talked about more. There is a match in the story mode that I could never beat, because I couldn’t button mash fast enough lol. That fatal four cage match gave me freakin fits. Edit: and the soundtrack is freakin awesome too
The way to beat the match is to choose a finisher your wrestler can perform quickly. Some prefer the RKO or the stunner, I personally choose the modified STO. hit it on each opponent as fast as you can and go to climb out when your spirit meter is super red. Do that and you'll beat it eventually 😁
Glad you finally got around to covering DoR2 I remember playing this almost everyday when it came out in the summer of 05 especially since at the time I didn't have a PS2 so the day of reckoning games were a great alternative definitely the most underrated WWE games series out there.
Man, I decided to boot up my GameCube last year and also managed to use my save data from like, 2007. The GameCube WWE games were so, so good. All the footage we’ve seen of AEW’s upcoming game has me hyped because it looks so similar to DoR in terms of animations and collision.
This game is crazy competitively, for example, one of my friends had a character that had the sweeping clothesline (a clothesline that hits the legs) for a finisher and also as a normal running attack. The thing is, because he has both of them, once he had the special activated you had to guess whether he'd do a normal SC or the finisher SC. you can't counter both at the same time. Absolutely love this game.
I remember playing story mode and getting to the fatal four way steel cage match and remembering how frustrating it was because of the stamina meter by the time you took out the other three guys and then try to climb the cage your meter would be drained making it difficult to win
I was about to write this down about remembering how I used to struggle with that part of the story mode. Ok you just convinced me to hook up the old GameCube and play some Day of Reckoning 2. I really loved the controls and the create a person was well stacked with items. Also the moves and move sets were abundant. It made it easy to create a wrestler.
Before this game came out I remember going on IGN and watching the entrance videos they put out each day and just being super impressed by how good the models all looked.
Maybe a SVR video. Covering all the SVR videos would be interesting. Comparing each one to its predecessor. What got updated, changed, which were the better ones etc.
Still play DoR2 to this day currently on a Wii via Nintendont which makes the whole game butter smooth 60fps even during 4 player Last Man Standing matches. It has aged so well, I'm using a WiiDual and Mclassic hooked up to an 77" OLED G1 and it looks awesome. To play is just incredible even nearly 20 years on, in many ways more fun than the PS2 and N64 wrestling games. Easily the most underrated wrestling game of all time.

Probably my favorite wrestling game of all time.. My friends and I used to have "the Trish challenge" where we would see who could beat the most wrestlers with Trish Stratus.. Also having finishers for every position fleshes out every character and makes them feel less predictable
I was a PlayStation kid, and lucky for that, because of the Smackdown series. But I remember being jealous after seeing some magazine articles showing screenshots from this game.
Still in my top 5 Here Comes the Pain (ps2) Day of Reckoning 2 (NGC) Raw 2 (xbox) most interesting career mode ever Wcw/nWo Revenge (n64) No Mercy/Virtual Pro 2 (n64) Fire Pro 07 on ps2 is one of the best as well
People who haven't gotten past the summerslam cage match think it's the toughest match in the game, just wait until the smackdown after the royal rumble when Kurt Angle shows up for a submissions only/I quit match.
Just wanna let everyone know that A Dark Halo is the name of the band. Songs are "Burn It All" and "Beyond Recall". They just came back from a hiatus and make kick ass music!
Also, I loved the tactics of the submission move; low stamina? go for the rest hold option, etc, etc. I'm unsure why though but the AI could lock submissions in for ages, but mine would break very quickly in comparison, like as part of the mechanic.
This was the only wrestling game that I know of that allowed you to jump off a ladder from inside to outside the ring and land an attack, and even bulldog your opponent face first into a ladder on the ground and bust them open. Not even the modern WWE games did this and there's no reason you shouldnt be able to. Edit: you could even knock your opponent off the ladder out of the ring, a lot of good ladder features 🤔
Underrated GOAT of Western wrestling games and imo far better than HCTP when it comes to gameplay and it even has an absolute BANGER ost including the game's main theme
I remember this game being put down at the time because it “wasn’t Smackdown.” This affected its reputation at the time. I’ve always enjoyed this game, and I’ve recently returned to it through emulation and I forgot just how good this game was. Great video, thank you for it.
Best thing about this game was that it queued up the music to hit immediately at the end of the match. Makes such a difference! Other games of the time had long delays, button presses and even loading screens before the winners music hit! For this, and a load of other reasons, it was clearly made by wrestling fans who appreciated the small details! Great game!

Amazing game. I played the hell out of it. I was great at reversing finishing moves. The best GameCube wrestling game hands down.
Probably my favorite wrestling game of all time.. My friends and I used to have "the Trish challenge" where we would see who could beat the most wrestlers with Trish Stratus.. Also having finishers for every position fleshes out every character and makes them feel less predictable
WWE games had stacked roster back then. Like 3/4 of the roster was Hall of Fame material.
I was a PlayStation kid, and lucky for that, because of the Smackdown series. But I remember being jealous after seeing some magazine articles showing screenshots from this game.
Still in my top 5
Here Comes the Pain (ps2)
Day of Reckoning 2 (NGC)
Raw 2 (xbox) most interesting career mode ever
Wcw/nWo Revenge (n64)
No Mercy/Virtual Pro 2 (n64)
Fire Pro 07 on ps2 is one of the best as well
What about SvR 06?
I love that you included WCW/NWO Revenge, such an underrated game.
Fun fact the Day of Reckoning engine was used for the two Wrestle Kingdom games that came out in Japan.
People who haven't gotten past the summerslam cage match think it's the toughest match in the game, just wait until the smackdown after the royal rumble when Kurt Angle shows up for a submissions only/I quit match.
Ahh that classic arena, the THQ Arena, lol
Another great nostalgia video, I never played this game so it was nice to see
This game looks better than the SVR series on the PS2 tbh. The graphics were mind blowing for its time. And the gameplay still holds up.
Just wanna let everyone know that A Dark Halo is the name of the band. Songs are "Burn It All" and "Beyond Recall". They just came back from a hiatus and make kick ass music!
One if my favorite wrestling games of all time. Loved everything about this and the first one.
Also, I loved the tactics of the submission move; low stamina? go for the rest hold option, etc, etc. I'm unsure why though but the AI could lock submissions in for ages, but mine would break very quickly in comparison, like as part of the mechanic.
I love all the content you make, a let’s play of the Reckoning games would be cool to see since I’ve never gotten to play one.
Loved this game. Closest thing to a revamped no mercy that we had.
Day of Reckoning 2 is the most overlooked wrestling game ever!
Still have this game. This and the old Smackdown vs Raw games. They was so much fun.
the peak of wrestling games
Man I loved the Gamecube. Such an underrated console.
Those A Dark Halo songs were so awesome. Love them.
I remember this game being put down at the time because it “wasn’t Smackdown.” This affected its reputation at the time. Now people are starting to look back at it and appreciate it more, and I’m glad.
I’ve always enjoyed this game, and I’ve recently returned to it through emulation and I forgot just how good this game was. Great video, thank you for it.
Hulk Hogan, The Hurricane and William Regal as playable characters? Sign me up.
Voice+content=amazing channel
Keep up the great content
😁
Legendary soundtrack!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED & STILL PLAY on N64 the WcW/NWO REVENGE game!! LoL I loved that it had the Stables & custom options!!
I literally fired this up on my actual hardware this weekend. Still one of the best wrestling games. Love the submission system.
Great game!
I think I'm actually remembering the FIRST Day of Reckoning, which makes it all the more remarkable!
This game brings back some hard hitting memories. As a kid I spent so much time in this game. That opening of the video with the song from the game gave me immediate goosebumps... I wish I could go back to that time. Spending hours in the create a superstar mode and even more time spent creating entrances. Simpler times 😔
Disappointed there it's a full remix of Burn It All on your patreon! Oh well. I really enjoy your theme remixes and videos, great job.
The 4 multiplayer matches with friends are awesome and super fun. I recommend the last man standing match
Yes absolutely play through the story modes! This is easily one of if not my favorite wrestling games ever! Plus I discovered the band A Dark Halo through the game and have loved their music to this day!
Its been a long time coming this was totally worth the wait
This was my WWE game growing up! I got soooo many hours out of this thing
The graphics on this game are still impressive, I own two copies 😭
Excellent use of A Dark Halo. A shame they didn't make more music. I loved that whole album.
Aww man! Loved this on the cube and it's criminal that it's never in the Convo for greatest ever wrestling game.
YOOOOOO a wrestling bios day of reckoning 1 and 2 let's play series sounds like it would be AWESOME
Upscaled GameCube games hold up so well it's scary
One of the best wrestling games I've ever played
I Loved Day of Reckoning 2 Hopefully it Gets Remastered the mechanics were soo Good
Been waiting for this video since you did DOR1. Thank you.
Such an underrated game imo. I'm so looking foward to you covering the SVR Games
its amazing how the graphics on these older wrestling games hold up
I miss my Gamecube
I loved this game! I popped at the theme song in the beginning
